We stayed for four nights over Thanksgiving weekend and could not be more pleased. The cottage interior is more charming and comfortable than the photos indicate. It was cold outside so we couldn't use the amazing deck overlooking the lake, but the cottage interior is bathed in the most beautiful light, so that you feel a real connection with the outdoors. It has a good heating system so we stayed toasty even with outside temps below freezing. The property owners have a home on the property and were onsite but respected our privacy. We were especially happy to find a property that not only welcomes, but embraces dogs. There was even a little basket of dog toys tucked in the corner. Having said that, the cottage was immaculate and would be fine even if you are not a dog owner. In it's current setup, it is ideal for a couple. The galley kitchen is small but we found everything we needed to do a Thanksgiving dinner for two. Many thanks!
Words cannot begin to express the joy of staying at this cottage. I wanted to find a place to get-away with my dog and relax after a very intense, stressful time.
What I found was an incredible cottage embraced by majestic trees, wild flowers, amazing amounts of butterflies, fragrant gardens, and water lilies floating in the lake that starts right at the property and reaches across to touch another breathtaking shoreline. For me, the hammock swinging beneath a stately old tree became the source of my daily fix - to wind down, relax, and relish in the absolute serenity that greets you the minute you arrive. Similarly, the wooden dock either makes you contemplate life or want to jump in the lake to swim and play (my dog’s choice.)
Large windows line the entire back and sides of the cottage with sky lights overhead giving the cottage a cheery, bright, open, airy feeling. The cottage deck is another great place to relax or contemplate life - and always the perfect place to enjoy your meals. The property and cottage are very pretty, well maintained and had extra touches everywhere to make our stay easy, wonderful and happy.
Elizabeth and Lee are the terrific owners of this little cottage. Prior to going and once I was there, they had answers for any question that arose. While I was there, they were available for anything I needed and somehow knew when it was a friendly chat or just some down time.
I look forward to returning again and again, and strongly recommend this location as a perfect get-away.
We were looking for a place close enough but also far enough and this was it! Beautifully scenic, really accommodating hosts, and great set up inside the cottage. We went hiking one day, grilled at night on a portable grill we brought with us, found a walmart to buy some necessities that we forgot, and sat on the deck on the lake and watched the sunset. We definitely look forward to going back.
My girlfriend and I visited with our dog and had an awesome weekend. About 90 minutes from NYC, but might as well be a different planet: unbelievably relaxing, quiet, and calm. The guest-house/cottage is just as advertised - cozy and super comfortable - and the property is amazing: right on the lake, great for swimming, boating, or just laying out. Elizabeth was super helpful and accommodating, and we had a blast. Will be back for sure.
