Cleaning / towels and linen::
Cleaning is at change overs only, unless otherwise requested. The owners have always found it awkward having holiday homes they have stayed at cleaned during their stays, hence this decision, but always flexible to people's needs. Basic cleaning cloths and products are of course provided. Towels, sheets and quilt covers changed weekly or as prearranged.
Sightseeing::
Your first stop should be the town's wonderful Tourist Information Centre followed by the open top guide bus that can be jumped on regularly (subject to time of year), visiting Anne Hathaway's Cottage (parental home of Shakespeare's wife), Mary Arden's House (his mother) and of course his Birthplace. After this excitement a nice bag of fish and chips from numerous places is highly recommended. A bit of exercise could then be needed by hiring a bike or rowing boat in the town, or for the less active a nice boat trip! A beautiful walk is a must along the River Avon to Shakespeare's grave in the Holy Trinity Church. This is also where Simon, the owner of the apartment was christened and his parents married, but no plaques exist! Tourist leaflets for local attractions are within the fully equipped office area of the apartment. Out of town visit Warwick, Regency Royal Leamington Spa as well as more lovely Cotswold towns/villages. Stratford/Warwick horse racing days are also a great day out.
Christmas::
From the beginning of December to the first week of January the town is wonderful, the lights and trees are some of the finest found anywhere, an incredible sight. These together with the Christmas markets, late night shopping and festive events, and the occasional carol singer makes it a magical experience. New Year is also a colourful affair, where Morris Dancers (traditional English folk dancing going back to the 15th Century) can be found with their sticks and handkerchiefs at the Alveston Manor Hotel, a short walk from the apartment. They can also be found performing at some Cotswold towns/villages.
Golf:
The town is blessed in having 2 wonderful golf courses nearby at Stratford Golf Club and The Menzies Welcome Golf Club & Spa. For most other sports/fitness the Leisure Centre Is only a stroll away.
