Charming 1 BR 1 Bath with terraced garden
Charming 1913 Victorian retreat with secluded entrance and private garden just steps from beautiful downtown Sausalito...
Enter from the street through a long canopy of roses to your arbored terrace entrance. The terracotta flagstone patio is surrounded by ferns, hydrangeas, fuchsia and roses. Enjoy a cup of coffee, glass of wine or romantic dinner on the teak wood patio furniture. Take in the silence and a good book on the arbor swing. There is also a gas barbecue and charcoal grill.
The terrace opens onto a Pied a Terre with vintage French doors. Feel as if you are in the South of France as you enter and are greeted with warm French stone floors and a charming sitting room adorned with antiques and tastefully upholstered furniture.
Proceed into an bright kitchen featuring a vintage Wedgewood stove and antique English farm table and chairs. Whether cooking a feast or warming local bread you will have everything you need in this gourmet kitchen, including high end cookware, china, and utensils.
The clear leaded glass door and window lets natural light into the cozy bedroom featuring a Victorian double bed, French dresser and glass faced cabinets. There is also a wall mounted TV and DVD player for your enjoyment.
Walk through the small changing room with closet and drawers to a well, naturally lit bathroom, with glass enclosed tub/shower and pedestal sink.
This Pied a Terre is ideal for romantic getaways, business people looking for more than a simple hotel room and would also be a great home base to take in the America’s Cup or other sightseeing trips.
Your Hostess will greet you upon arrival and is available to help you arrange sightseeing or wine country tours, make reservations or even pre-stock the kitchen for a small extra charge. There is also free WiFi for those who just can't live without it.
My husband and I enjoyed our 3 night stay at this Pied a Terre. The location was outstanding. We walked to restaurants for delicious dinners at Scoma's, Salito's, and Osteria Davino. The shops were a very short walk from where we were staying and so was the marina. The area felt very safe and people we met were quite friendly. Visited the Walt Disney Museum at the Presidio. That was quite a treat also.Didn't get to meet Carolyn, unfortunately, but loved the bread and milk she left for us. Bed was a little small, but courtyard was picturesque and amenities were great.
We so enjoyed being in your home. The decor was relaxed and tasteful and the warm Bread on the table ,butter and milk in the fridge very welcoming! I was sorry not to have a longer chat with you Carolyn! What a charming place to stay?

We spent 3 wonderful weeks, my wife and I in this lovely apartment Sausalito. The setting is very pleasant quiet, close to the city center. The kitchen is fully equipped and allows for delicious recipes. housing is very comfortable. We will come back in 2015. We have invited our children and grandchildren in this natural paradise. Thank you to Carolyn for their hospitality and kindness.
Wow. What a wonderful place! My husband and I spent several nights in this beautiful cottage in Sausalito... Perfect location, short walk to the water and the town shops. Perfect location to the ferry to travel over water to San Fran. Perfect location to walk to the many great restaurants both on the water and blocks from the cottage. Then there was the cottage itself. The garden has become my second favorite 'Platio' of all times. The beautifully decorated cottage was so charming and had such beautiful things that I discovered a new beautiful item every time I looked. Of curse Carolyn was so charming herself and helpful with local suggestions. The fresh bread and fresh milk was also perfect! All I say is...Perfect. We will be back, I promise!
David & I stayed here for a total of 10 nights in early October this year & were extremely delighted with our stay at this charming apartment.
It is so quiet here, extremely clean & cozy with a beautiful garden to relax in at the end of the day or for morning coffee! In fact our first day or so we just recovered from our long trip sitting in the garden.
As the weather was hot & sunny every day we had breakfast at the very least out there every day.
The kitchen is the best equipped in a rental I have ever come across!amazing collection of sharp knives, Bodum coffee makers, pepper mills, & top quality cookware to name a few.
A welcome gift of sourdough bread, butter, milk & cream were stocked in the kitchen when we arrived. Much appreciated as we arrived exhausted after 12 hrs of flying!
Driver's market, 2 short blocks away to pick up groceries some ready made items for lunch or even dinner at home. They stock great wines as well.
Many good restaurants, deli's all within easy walking distance as well as coffee shops & bakery.
We had a fantastic meal at Scoma's one evening which is a must for Seafood. Do make reservations & request a table overlooking the water!
We rented bikes from Sausilito Bike rentals a block away to bike across Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman's wharf. & we took the ferry back. A definite must do! Great quality bikes by the way.
Carolyn was so very helpful prior to & during our stay in making this a stress free holiday in the Bay area. She had great suggestions, maps, guides, ferry schedules right there for us to browse through to make the most of our time here
On our arrival, we used Marin Airporter to get to Sausilito. A taxi is usually available at the drop off spot to take you to the apt. but wasn't when we arrived, so we got off at the next stop.
We used Marin Door to Door for our transportation back to the airport which was so much more convenient for the same price if you include the taxi fare from the bus stop.
It is definitely a place we would come back to & can't recommend it highly enough!!
This is my second year staying at this charming Sausalito doll house. It is the perfect safe, lovely retreat for a single person or couple --close to downtown Sausalito, the water, even a movie theater. But it is quiet and secluded. I love the antique furnishings, the large and flower filled patio, both of which create a great outdoor experience . I even used the grill with friends this year. The owner is available and eager to please her guests. This is a rare find for one of loveliest towns on the planet.

Within walking distance to the Sausalito waterfront, with great city and yacht race views. This is an ideal place to access Americas Cup proceedings. There is also the Sausalito Art Festival held each year over labor day weekend. Year round shopping, movies, bars and restaurants are just steps away. There is also a heliport nearby. I can help you arrange seaplane or helicopter tours over the bay.
