2 Bedroom apartment to sleep 4; 2 bathrooms; area 90 sq. m

First floor bright and airy apartment in a small six-condo building. Entrance into a spacious combined living/dining area leading onto balcony with recliner chairs. Tiles and parquet flooring. Large fully-fitted kitchen with laundry. Main double bedroom with large sliding door wardrobe and drawers. This bedroom also has a private balcony and en-suite bathroom consisting of overhead bath shower, W.C, bidet and wash-hand basin. 2nd Bedroom consists of two single beds, wardrobe and drawers. There is another 1/2 bathroom with WC, wash-hand basin and also a free-standing cubicle housing the massage shower. Linen cupboard in hallway.

There is outside street parking for a car rental if necessary. CABLE TV (40 Channels-All languages) DVD/CD and VIDEO PLAYER (with library) provided. WI-FI available in apartment and at most shopping malls, cafes and Funchal Cathedral area.

FESTIVALS: MADEIRA hosts CARNIVAL WEEK during the month of FEBRUARY/MARCH, but differs annually The GRAND PARADE is held on a SATURDAY and the Fun Parade is on the following Tuesday. So if you feel inclined to donn a Wig or

Moustache you are cordially invited to join in the fun with the locals. Singing, Music and Dancing along the streets of the City with small stalls offering the traditional food of the Island.

APRIL/MAY, is FLOWER FESTIVAL TIME. Admire the beautiful Carpet of Flowers along the main Avenue leading up to the Cathedral as well as the Display Marquee of prize orchids and other exotic blooms. The culmination of the Festival is the GRAND PARADE of FLOATS festooned with thousands and thousands of flowers. This festival is not to be missed, but please inquire early as it is one of the most popular. The dates change annually.

FLOWERS AND GARDENS: It is not for nothing that Madeira is known as 'THE FLOATING GARDEN'. All the gardens ARE AT THEIR BEST DURING THE MONTHS OF MAY AND JUNE continuing right through the Summer months. An added BONUS takes place in the form of the ATLANTIC FESTIVAL during the month of JUNE. EVERY SATURDAY evening there is a spectacular Fireworks Display. Although it is hosted by Madeira, three other countries will also be competing for the winning title. During the course of Atlantic Week local 'wandering minstrels' will be entertaining guests with their music and songs. This is a wonderful time just to sit at one of the street-side cafes, sip a glass of wine, listen to the 'troubadors' and watch the World go by.

WINE FESTIVAL.: The ANNUAL WINE HARVEST is celebrated in the Centre of FUNCHAL during the month of SEPTEMBER. Small stalls along the main avenues offer MADEIRA wine tasting and local traditional food. Performances of FOLKLORE singing and dancing take place on stages erected for the occasion. Altogether a delightful time to mingle with the local Madeiran people and enjoy the festivities.

The next festival here in Funchal is the CHRISTMAS ILLUMINATIONS which are turned on round about the 6th DECEMBER and continue for about a month. Every street, lane and building - as far as the eye can see - is decorated. Ofcourse this culminates in a magnificent fireworks display to WELCOME IN THE NEW YEAR. The view from the apartment is absolutely spectacular and you feel as if you can reach out and touch the fireworks. Do not miss out on Funchal at this time of the year as it will be forever remembered.

The apartment is just 50 metres above the BOTANICAL GARDENS and BIRD PARK with access by CABLECAR to the village of MONTE (known for it's magnificent GARDENS, CHURCH and TRADITIONAL TOBOGGAN RIDE which is still in existence). One is presented with spectacular panoramic views of the City and Harbour - particularly towards evening - with just a 10 minute (3 km) bus ride into Funchal. For hikers and walkers the local bus (directly outside the building) will transport you to the LEVADA WALKS leading to MONTE, the Tea House and CAMACHA. Also, in close proximity, a shopping centre provides the amenities of a mini-supermarket; chemist; bakery; hairdresser; general store; dry-cleaners; fruitery; florist and cafes. The apartment does have street parking space for a car rental although this is not a necessity as the bus service is an excellent, reliable and economical mode of transport. The Motorway is just 1 km distance and the Airport is a 20 minute drive to the apartment (20 km).

Golf: Madeira has two Golf Course facilities........Palheiro Golf Course is situate high above the City of Funchal in close proximity to the Botanic Gardens, commanding a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Santo da Serra Golf Club (18 hole) is approximately a 30 minute drive from the City and is known for hosting the annual Madeiran Open towards the end of MARCH.

  • A Reservation Deposit of 30% of the rental rate is kindly required in order to secure your accommodation. The remaining balance is due four (4) weeks before arrival. However, if your booking is made within the four week period prior to your arrival, then the full and complete rental rate for the duration of your stay will apply and is non-refundable.

    Deposits will only be reimbursed PROVIDED CANCELLATION IS MADE IN WRITING TWO (2) MONTHS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.

    We do not charge a fee for Damages or Breakage (e.g. glasses, plates and appliances etc.) but respectfully request that the items be replaced/repaired and this would be greatly appreciated.

    The weekly Rental Rate of E385 covers two (2) people with a supplement of E6 per night per additional person (up to 4 people). This Rate is applicable for ALL SEASONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDING CARNIVAL; FLOWER; WINE FESTIVALS as well as XMAS AND NEW YEAR.

MADEIRA HOLIDAY FOR SUSI, PHILIP AND SOFIA

We decided to visit Madeira because of the warm weather that the Island experiences. The apartment was exactly like the photos on the Home Away site with a spectacular view of the harbour and City. It was a lot larger than we expected and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The apartment faced South so we were all able to sun-bathe on the balconies from morning to the latter part of the afternoon. The evenings were very mild and we enjoyed the beautiful sun-sets. We did not have to rent a car and took Sandy's advice and used the local bus because the service was excellent and the busses were always on time. We love historical sites and enjoyed walking through the Old Town past the small church and on to the Fort. There are many restaurants in this area and we ate there regularly. Sandy is very knowledgeable about the Island and gave us lots of advice about trips, levada walks and gardens. We will definitely return to the Island because there was so much to see and do and we only had one week.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Beautiful Apt. Jardim Botanico

The Apartment Jardim botanico lies up the Mountain to Curral Romeiros. Don't let yourself be tricked by the distance of 3.5 km down to the city ... it's actually DOWN and you will be walking - or rather: climbing down steeply - around 1.5 hours to get there. We didn't find getting a rental car advisable as well. Those serpentines, narrow roads full of parked cars and seamed by street levadas aren't exactly relaxing for flatland drivers of any nation. (Especially with an oncoming bus who seems to need the full streed width.)
So, we took full advantage of the city busses (bus stop just around the corner) and found them comfortable (if sometimes a tad scary due to some bus drivers' openly demonstrated skills down around the corners) and well-priced as well as reliably on time.
The cable car to Monte and Funchal's Botanical gardens are only a few feet away, and the bus line up to Curral Romeiros takes you to the starting point of two levada walks.

Fotos and description of the apartment are fully accurate. The view from the living room balcony over Funchal and down to the harbour is spectacular. If the weather allows, having breakfast in the morning sun on the balcony is a dreamy way of beginning your day. All rooms are ample spaced and very comfortably furnished. Wireless LAN access was possible.

The best selling point to us was, single-handledly, our lovely landlady Sandy. She took a lot of time telling us about the island, explaining tours and destinations for a day trip as well as how-to-get-there without a car. She organized minibus tours for us (with a pick-up point directly at our apartment, not down in the city), as well as a fixed price taxi service from and back to the airport. And twice, she took us to the supermarket to fill up on basic (and heavy) food stuffs. Thank you so much, Sandy!

So, here's a heartfelt recommendation to any new visitors of Madeira, who like to be out of the noise and brouhaha of the city, but still close enough to see and enjoy it's beautiful sides.

This apartment was exactly as described in advert, spacious and clean. There was everything you could possibly need for a pleasant stay

It was not walkable into town, but there was a bus stop virtually outside, and service was cheap and actually on time. Only about ten minutes.

Sandy was very helpful and took us to supermarket, and loaded our bus cards, and took time to explain the workings of madiera.

We did not see much of our lovely balconies because of the weather, but would be lovely in the summer, beautiful view.

If you book this apartment, you will not be disappointed

Schöner Weihnachtsurlaub

Wir waren in Sandys Ferienwohnung vom 15.12.2012 bis 25.12.2012 zu Gast
und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
Schon die Kontaktaufnahme und die Abwicklung im Vorfeld ließen einen
guten Urlaub erwarten. Dank Sandy´s Wegbeschreibung per Mail haben wir die Wohnung sofort gefunden.
Bei der Ankunft fanden wir alles wie beschrieben vor, bestens vorbereitet, sehr gepflegt und sauber. Sandy erklärte uns alles, fuhr mit uns zum ersten Einkauf und bei einem Kaffee im Anschluss erhielten wir schon viele Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt.
Die Wohnung bietet einen phantastischen Blick über Funchal.
Wir hatten einen Mietwagen, aber auch ohne diesen ist die Wohnung gut per Bus zu erreichen.
Der Botanische Garten liegt vor der Haustür und sogar eine der Levada-Touren kann man nach wenigen Busstationen von dort starten.
Reiseführer kann man übrigens zu Hause lassen. Sandy hat sehr umfangreiche und liebevoll zusammengestellte Infomappen in der Ferienwohnung. Eine wenige Tage zuvor eröffnete Straße in den Bergen mit grandioser Aussicht war dort schon vermerkt!
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt! Sandy ist eine warmherzige und liebevolle Gastgeberin.
Gerne würden wir bei ihr noch mal Urlaub machen.

My daughter and I stayed in this apartment during October 2012.
Although we have stayed on the island previously, we used the apartment for an unexpected stay. We found the apartment to be exactly as described and looked just like the photos. It was larger than we expected and very well equipped with everything functional. Because I had to complete extra computer work I was very pleased that there was wifi at no extra charge. I have stayed in hotels before and have always been charged an hourly fee. We also had a large choice of dvds and videos to watch,
The view from the balcony is exceptional particularly watching the magnificent sunsets in the evening. Transport was no problem because the local bus is very regular. Sandy was very helpful with any and all questions that we had and I can thoroughly recommend this apartment.

Durante o mês de Outubro 2012 fiquei juntamente com a minha filha. Já visitamos a Madeira varias vezes, e esta visita foi inesperada. O apartamento foi tudo aquilo que nós esperamos e muito mais, espaçoso e bem equipado com tudo a funcionar exactamente como nas fotos. Apesar de estar de ferias tive vários projectos que foi necessário utilizar o wifi e fiquei mais que satisfeita sabendo que tinha lá no apartamento wi-fi completamente livre sem custo nenhum. Já fiquei em vários Hoteis e isto é sempre um custo adicional. Tinhamos também uma excelente escolha de dvds e video. As vistas de a nossa varanda eram espectaculares principalmente o por do sol.
