First floor bright and airy apartment in a small six-condo building. Entrance into a spacious combined living/dining area leading onto balcony with recliner chairs. Tiles and parquet flooring. Large fully-fitted kitchen with laundry. Main double bedroom with large sliding door wardrobe and drawers. This bedroom also has a private balcony and en-suite bathroom consisting of overhead bath shower, W.C, bidet and wash-hand basin. 2nd Bedroom consists of two single beds, wardrobe and drawers. There is another 1/2 bathroom with WC, wash-hand basin and also a free-standing cubicle housing the massage shower. Linen cupboard in hallway. Garage space for a rental car is provided, if required, which obviates the necessity of outside street parking. TV; DVD and Video player (with small library) provided.

Nearest Ferry: HARBOUR at 3 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: FUNCHAL PROMENADE at 3 Kilometres

The apartment is just 50 metres above the BOTANICAL GARDENS and BIRD PARK with access by CABLECAR to the village of MONTE (known for it's magnificent GARDENS, CHURCH and TRADITIONAL TOBOGGAN RIDE which is still in existence). One is presented with spectacular panoramic views of the City and Harbour - particularly towards evening - with just a 10 minute (3 km) bus ride into Funchal. For hikers and walkers the local bus (directly outside the building) will transport you to the LEVADA WALKS leading to MONTE, the Tea House and CAMACHA. Also, in close proximity, a shopping centre provides the amenities of a mini-supermarket; chemist; bakery; hairdresser; general store; dry-cleaners; fruitery; florist and cafes. The apartment does have a garage parking space for a car rental although this is not a necessity as the bus service is an excellent, reliable and economical mode of transport. The Motorway is just 1 km distance and the Airport is a 20 minute drive to the apartment (20 km).

Additional information about rental rates

  • A Reservation Deposit of 30% of the rental rate is kindly required in order to secure your accommodation. The remaining balance is due four (4) weeks before arrival. However, if your booking is made within the four week period prior to your arrival, then the full and complete rental rate for the duration of your stay will apply and is non-refundable.
    Deposits will only be reimbursed PROVIDED CANCELLATION IS MADE IN WRITING TWO (2) MONTHS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.
    We do not charge a fee for Damages or Breakage (e.g. glasses and plates etc.) but respectfully request that the items be replaced and this would be greatly appreciated. There is a refundable deposit for keys and garage automatic door controller.
    The weekly Rental Rate of E350 covers two (2) people with a supplement of E25 per additional person (up to 4 people). This Rate is applicable for ALL SEASONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDING CARNIVAL/FLOWER/WINE FESTIVALS as well as XMAS AND NEW YEAR.

FESTIVALS: Our next festival here in Funchal is the Christmas illuminations which are turned on round about the 6th December and continue for about a month. Every street, lane and building - as far as the eye can see - is decorated. Ofcourse this culminates in a magnificent fireworks display to welcome in the New Year. The view from the apartment is absolutely spectacular and you feel as if you can reach out and touch them. Do not miss out on Funchal at this time of the year as it will be forever remembered.

Our apartment was exactly as described, with incredible panoramic views of Funchal's city and harbour. At night the view is like Fairyland, with hundreds of lights twinkling from the properties dotted all over the spectacular hillsides to the north of the city.

Sandy the owner has lived in the apartment below for many years and was readily on hand to attend to our accommodation needs and queries. As a bonus to visitors, Sandy can act as a tour guide and has a vast knowledge of Madeira, its cuisine, key shopping and tourist hot spots, and value-for-money organised tours and dining out recommendations.

The bus stop just 2 mins away enabled us to travel for less than 1 euro both to the centre of Funchal and to the famous levada walks. The equally famous Botanical Gardens are a few minutes walking distance.

Particular attractions for us were the mountain scenery, the sea-front and harbour, the proliferate flowers everywhere, the 2 cable car rides, one of them 5 mins walk from the apartment, the quality of clothes particularly in children's stores, drinking tap water with no ill-effects, and the warm evenings.

The location of the apartment, with reliable public transport facilities so nearby, and Sandy 'on tap', made everything so convenient and easy for us.

We would thoroughly recommend a stay in Sandy's apartment on this beautiful island, known as the Garden of the Atlantic.
