The small town of Maiori, famous for having one of the largest and most beautiful beaches of the coast of Amalfi, is of ancient origin. It was called Reginna Maior by the ancient Romans. Its history is bound to that of Amalfi, which is only 4 km (2.5 miles) away. The church of Santa Maria del Mare dominates the village with its beautiful dome decorated with majolica. Many historical buildings stand around the place, including the ancient defense towers, the most famous of which is the Torre Normanna, built in the IX century.
The weather is temperate all year round. The sky and the sea are bright and crystal clear, and the air is filled with the perfume of the area's famous lemon trees. You will be able to stroll along the gorgeous promenade along the sea and shop for ceramics, lemon liquor, lemon cakes, fashions and other products crafted by local artisans. You will taste delicious pizzas and fish in the characteristic restaurants along the seaside.
