We live 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto in the country. This apt has been our urban escape for years and we love it. It's bright, happy and located in our favorite part of Toronto.
We have recently renovated the 3rd floor apt (previously used for long-term rentals) and have moved upstairs.
We come down to the city approximately every 1-2 weeks. We have used VRBO ourselves and hope to provide guests a comfortable, stress free experience with easy availability to us at all times.
Dan or Tessa purchased this apartment in 2006
We love the tranquility of living, isolated, on a farm. However, intermittently, it's interesting and fun to immerse ourselves in an urban environment and our property is what we consider a perfect location to do so. We've traveled extensively and although each location is unique, Queen st w. Toronto is our favorite, due primarily to the multi-ethnic aspect of the place and proximity to various interesting venues.
This apartment had everything we could have wanted for a great long weekend in TO. The Queen West location was a short walk to tons of fantastic restaurants and the best shopping in the city - not to mention awesome bakeries, Trinity-Bellwoods Park, etc. The apartment itself was spotless and so comfortable to come home to after a day of walking and an evening out. Dan and Tessa were very responsive and great to deal with. This is now the only place we want to stay when we're in Toronto.
My daughter and I had an amazing time and this is one of the best areas in Toronto to stay at. The apartment is located very central with easy streetcar transportation and independent stores and restaurants galore. We had all the basic amenities that we needed and a great "home base" for re-charging. Dan and Tessa are in easily reachable and great to deal with. I look forward to booking it again on a future trip to Toronto.
This is our second time staying at the condo and we love it. We come for 2 weeks for work each year and although we are mostly at work we find this an ideal location to come home to each night. The kitchen is set up so that we can make all our meals there and there is a fantastic little grocery store one block away with good veggies and essentials open till 9pm every day. The condo is comfy and very funky. There is a loft in the bedroom where our kids can sleep and it is very quiet despite it being on Queen St. The bathroom is very small and there is no bath but these are small inconveniences given all the pluses of the place. The condo is very close to a park for running and a pool for a morning swim. The owners are always contactable and have been very helpful when we had a problem.
The condo is located on the second floor, above a very nice persian restaurant. The condo is roomier than the pictures show. The streetcar 501 (one of the major lines) stops one block away, and you can purchase day card or token for the streetcar at the 7-Eleven store close by. It's very safe day and night because of the many stores, restaurants, and bars lining Queen Street West. Walking to city centre is a bit far. You might want to consider taking the streetcar. Parking is horrible! If you could, don't drive. We finally found a parking spot after half hour of searching, and left our car there till the end of our trip.
Although located in the middle of a lively urban area, the condo itself is almost free from street noise, nor did we hear anything from the restaurant below. There was a construction going on next door, though, and it was kinda loud at times (sometimes very early in the morning). Fortunately we were underway most of the time, and when we came back in the evening, they had stopped working for the day. It's not a problem for us. It's simply a part of urban life.
The condo owner Tessa welcomed us warmly and made great recommendation about restaurants and sightseeing. The security deposit was refunded promptly. There are several fancy looking coffee/espresso makers in the condo that we didn't know how to operate because we are not coffee drinkers, but I'm sure some people would appreciate them greatly. I liked the water cooker because I like to drink tea. We loved the decoration and the art works in the condo. The bed is very comfortable. The bath is a bit small but sufficient. There's no elevator, you need to carry your luggage up a narrow stairway.
All in all it was a great stay!
Just got back from fabulous Toronto and what a treat to stay on Queen West Street. Perfectly situated for shopping and eating! Dan and Tessa put together a great list of places to eat and helpful notes. Loved having the kitchen available to make breakfast and for late afternoon appetizers. We opened the windows and enjoyed listening to the activity on the street below. Bedding was very nice with modern shower and washer/dryer. Folks walk everywhere and after the first day, we were in our walking groove. If you get a chance to have a conversation with Dan and Tessa, you'll enjoy their company! Lovely, lovely couple and lovely apartment! Thanks again for the SUD bread ya'll.
My husband and I visited Toronto for a week in Sept., and we really enjoyed our stay in this apt. It was close to everything we needed (great restaurants, fantastic shopping). The apt is even nicer than the pictures suggest. It was clean, and stocked with plenty of towels, sheets, etc. The area we were in felt safe and comfortable as well. If ever we return to Toronto, I will check to see if this apt is available first.
West Queen West is an artistic, multi-ethnic, funky area - recently voted by Vogue as the 'second coolest neighbourhood in the world'! On our doorstep you will find a multitude of restaurants, art galleries, theaters, hip hotels, indie boutique shopping and great people watching. TIFF bell lightbox, Roy Thompson Hall and beautiful Trinity Bellwoods park are blocks away and Lake Ontario is a 15 min walk.
