The property was purchased by our grandparents in the 1950's as a retreat from his medical practice in Seattle. They built a 'Tea House' style cabin on the property (available separately for rent). At the time, our grandfather was the only doctor on the Island, and he ended up with many patients on the Island waiting to see 'Doc' when they arrived for their weekend get-aways. Our entire family (now 5 generations) have enjoyed the cabin and property since 1960. In 1999, our parents decided to retire to the Island, and custom-designed this Lindal Cedar home. Our parents lived on Lopez and enjoyed their home for years.
Thank you for visiting our listing, and I hope you and your family will enjoy as much as our family has!!
Virginia Ferrari purchased this house in 2000
This property is abundent with seafood, boasts peaceful waterfront views of the bay and of Mount Baker.
The views from this property are breathtaking.
The house was perfect for our family reunion, a gathering of six. The open floor plan on the main floor was accommodating for chatting around the fire, several cooks in the kitchen and meals overlooking the water. Sleeping spaces were nicely scattered for privacy with abundant bathroom facilities. All was immaculate and well equipped. The property was spectacular with views looking through the madrones to the shoreline.
For us the timing in beginning of Oct, might have been better relative to weather. It was comfortable but fog kept our days overcast until mid-afternoon.
We had such an amazing weekend! We stayed Friday night to Sunday. The view from the cabin was beautiful and we loved walking along the beach in the early mornign with our dog. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure was excellent and we grilled out/ ate in the adirondack chairs facing the bay. The property manager Virginia was so responsive to questions I had before and during our stay. She was also flexible about our checkout time since the unit wasn't reserved for Sunday night. An amazing weekend of hiking, biking, puzzling and relaxing! We will definitely be back!
Spacious, gorgeous views, clean, and comfortable. What a beautiful home in an amazing location! The fire pit provided such fun family time!
My children, grandchildren, my partner and I all gathered for a wonderful San Juan vacation. Since all of us are spread out all over the country, it was just lovely to come together in such a beautiful setting. The house is very comfortable and clean. It's a safe place for children, with so much for them to discover on the beach. The house is spacious and allows for quiet places for naps, etc. We enjoyed clamming, kayaking, biking and a nightly campfire. We also were lucky to see J and L pod at Limekiln! The cabin on this property is also quite nice and worked especially well for us, as we two older adults were able to escape the morning "kid energy" as we enjoyed coffee in our own little place. There is a musty smell in the cabin that might be troublesome for those with allergies. We so much appreciated being able to have my son's well behaved dog with us -- thank you for allowing pets! Our only suggestions for the house are that a larger crib be available. The one left out for us was too small for our 2 year old grandson. Also, an additional recycling bin would be helpful. Overall, the property is exactly as described --- beautiful and comfortable!
Our Lopez stay was wonderful, actually perfect. We had such a good time, the accommodations were beyond all expectations. . Loved how each of us could have our own space. Clamming was really fun, though one night some varmint got into our clams and trash. Location was ideal for cycling, we enjoyed all the little hikes to beach coves that we could add to our rides. Really, just enjoyed everything about the island and the VRBO we chose. And we were most pleasantly surprised that the grocery prices at the market were same as here, and loved Holly B's bakery.
Beautiful view of Mud Bay. House is enormous. Lots of living room space on two levels, but only three bedrooms, plus a half-walled, semi-private room that sleeps one. Has wireless, but we had to hunt for the router to find the access code (it's on the lower floor). The oven wasn't working while we were there, but we managed with stovetop and microwave. Kudos to the owner for all the large cooking pots! Dining room chairs are comfy, but sit low to the table and we had to push the table out to make enough room to walk around it. My dad enjoyed the horseshoe pit. :-)
