One bedroom furnished apartment in the best location in all of Portland

This apartment has it all! It is located in a historic victorian house, yet entirely brand new with stainless appliances and marble throughout. Less than a block from NW 23rd shops and restaurants. Just three blocks to the Street Car (local mass transit) which allows easy access to all of Portland. Staying here, you will probably never have to use a car to get around downtown. Privately gated (only for this apartment) and personal outdoor patio area. Pet friendly and with two dogs parks within a 7 minute walk. Apartment also has its own laundry room. This truly has one of the best walking scores in all of Portland. Some of the best restaurants and shops are just a block away.

If you have been to Portland before, and you have spent time in the Northwest neighborhood, then you don't need any further reference, but if you haven't, then you are in for a treat. This apartment is located in one of the oldest and most authentic parts of town, the Alphabet District. This is a basement apartment in the 'Ella Rand' house, which is a Queen Anne Victorian once owned by Henry Louis Pittock. The only downside is that although there are windows in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, there really isn't much to see. If you want the view, please stay on the 20th floor at the Hyatt!

Basement apartment

Definitely a basement apartment - limited outdoor light. It has a double bed not a queen bed. Strange layout with bathroom by the front door and tiny kitchen. Best thing about this apartment is the location. Easy to get around.

Great Apt!

Not bad! Very close to shops and easy to get to.

The only cons were that it was not the cleanest apt (probably due to being pet friendly) but it didn't matter much to me. Did wake up really stuffed up from the dog hair.

The owner left out some soap and body wash and a toothbrush and toothpaste which was a nice touch in case we forgot it.

Not the quietest place either as there are 6 other units in an old building. Because it's not really meant to be an apt building, you can hear lots of noises. It was hard to fall asleep because of that. But for a quick visit, in a pinch, it worked.

Has a big couch you can sleep two on and a full size bed for another person. Kitchen was nice- stocked with coffee and a big fridge.

Enjoyed visiting the shops, just a block over. I'd stay here again for sure.

I informed the cleaning crew that you had to deal with pet hair left over from the previous guests and they will make sure to not let it happen again.

As for the house upstairs, it is only a single tenant house with three people living there. I asked them about the noise that weekend and they apologized because they had family stay with them so there was much more activity than normal.

Finally, the bed has been upgraded to a queen. I hope this helps. Thank you for the feedback!

Wonderful Pet-friendly Retreat

Jacek's basement apartment in NW Portland is our new favorite place to stay in Portland. I am a former Portlander, and we have frequently visited the city over the years. NW 23rd Avenue is a favorite hangout for us, but staying in an apartment in the neighborhood allowed us the opportunity to find new delightful places to be in the vicinity. Wallace Park's off-leash area is a short walk from the apartment, and we went there every morning.
Only two things made it less than perfect for us: the bed was only a double, and the windows only look out at narrow walkways around the house. There was also no cable television, but Jacek left a big video library in the apartment which we enjoyed, and anyway, we didn't want to waste our vacation watching TV anyway. Our dogs appreciated the comfortable space of the apartment and the neighborhood, which has lots of canines and other critters. We felt like it was a "home away from home" for us and look forward to returning.

We stayed in this suite for 3 nights and had a great time. It was nicely furnished and clean upon arrival. The location is perfect; 1 block from 23rd Avenue and lots of great shops and restaurants. I would definitely come back and stay again.

Great location, apartment ok

Firstly ,this is in a fantastic location, a short walk to shops and great restaurants in a scenic area. However when we arrived in Portland it was raining hard. Upon entering the apartment (which is in the basement) the place was flooded. We mopped up the hallway, kitchen and dining room with spare towels however the carpet was completely soaked that the water pooled over the top of my feet. We tried to call Jacek however he was overseas at the time. We then tried to call the housekeeper who didnt answer so we then tried the property managers, who also didn't answer. No one returned our calls the 3 days we were there. Jacek replied via email and said he would get his plumber out, again no one came.
Other than that, the place was quite large, the kitchen was well equipped and the location was great. The bed was pretty small and uncomfortable, not good for 2 people and the place felt a bit dirty but that could have been the flooding. I probably wouldn't stay here again but would stay in the area.

I am terribly sorry about your stay. It seemed to be a perfect storm of all sorts. I was on a vacation in Europe, which limited my ability to take care of any problems. Secondly, my property manager (who takes care of things when I am gone) wasn't available and no longer works for me.

There was a record amount of rainfall that week and a wall became over saturated. I did call a plumber, but he arrived after the guest left and told me what happened. I had the wall sealed to prevent anything like this to happen again and had all the carpets steam-cleaned.

The bed has also been upgraded to a queen. Sorry about the inconvenience.
