SIMPLY PARADISE ~ EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATIONS, 2 STREETS TO THE OCEAN

Keaau Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 ACRE PROPERTY ~ 1 BR-1 BATH / SLEEPS 4-5

Aloha and welcome to Simply Paradise - Hale Honu on Sunny Kaloli Point. Our cozy cottage is on a peaceful forest retreat along rugged volcanic coastline, on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just 20 minutes south of Hilo International Airport. Located in Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision, our home is in a safe, friendly, local neighborhood where you can walk, bike and enjoy the ocean scenery, you can even fish off the ocean cliffs nearby. Excellent for the whole family or perfect for a romantic getaway.

Hale Honu is an immaculate cottage with fully equipped kitchen, full bath with tub & shower, one bedroom with a double bed that has a NEW Serta, firm, quality mattress. Flat screen TV, comfortable double futon couch in living area and large lanai with hammock.

We feature 100% cotton linens and cotton bath and beach towels, bath, laundry and dish products. Both are immaculate with fully equipped kitchens and and cozy Tri-fold mattresses for extra sleeping comfort.

Guests will enjoy the sweet trade winds; being surrounded by orchids, ferns and native trees; listening to the sound of waves and venture a 5 minute walk to the ocean cliffs and view magnificent sun and moon rises out of the Pacific. Take a 4 1/2 mile hike to Shipman's/Ha'ena Beach.

During your stay take a 30 minute scenic drive up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at 4000 ft., the summit of the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. You can learn about our unique shield volcanoes and see how our islands are being created at the Jaggar Museum and Visitor Center. View ancient and active lava flows depending on activity and weather conditions. Some nights you can see the Kilauea lava 'glow' from the back lanai.

Tour the rim of the caldera at the summit and hike into a pit crater, then stroll through a 300 year old native rain forest and experience a lava tube. For the hungry hiker there are cafes, restaurants and a winery, all at Volcano Village, a charming community just outside of the park.

Take another day to discover old Hawaii. Visit Kalapana village, plant a coconut on Hawaii's newest Black Sand Beach created by lava flows in the 90's. Don't miss FREE Live Hawaiian Music outdoors here every Wed. and Fri. night and enjoy local treats at the farmers market and food stands, featuring a variety including vegan and vegetarian fare. On the way there, you'll pass the historical Star Of The Sea painted church. Down the coast you may be able to see a plume of steam rising where lava is flowing into the ocean!

Leisurely continue north along the coastline, there are many parks and breathtaking scenery. Experience exciting Zip Line Aventures North of Hilo, 5 total on the Big Island. You can often see the green sea turtles along the shore. At Pohoiki Bay you might catch some of the best surfers on the island. Fishermen launch their boats from the ramp here. Next you'll come to Ahalanui State Park. This is a must! Stay awhile, take off your shoes and relax in the warm waters.

This pond is heated by volcanic thermal vents. It is an ancient place of healing created and used for generations by Hawaiians. Once refreshed head towards Pahoa and take time to walk through Lava Tree State Park with it's fascinating tree molds and tranquil paths. Last stop is historic Pahoa town, a colorful community where you can dine or take out fresh fish, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Mexican or Thai cuisine.

Include charming, eclectic Hilo Town in your itinerary. Second largest community in Hawaii. Explore Hilo's unique history on bay front at the Pacific Tsunami Museum. Down the street you will be among friendly people as you wander through the stands of the Hilo Farmers Market. Sample Hawaiian food, fresh, hot tamales and Filipino desserts! You can purchase fresh fish, tropical flowers, organic produce and exotic seasonal fruits to enjoy. You will find yourself in lush botanical gardens, waterfalls and the largest Japanese Garden in the USA. Enjoy snorkeling at Richardson's Beach, Hilo's own black sand beach. Spot dolphins, whales and swim with turtles. Then come home to your own private retreat where you can rest up for your next island adventure!

I invite you to come and enjoy paradise!

About U`ilani

I am originally from Iowa and Leland is a Native of Hawaii, Army-Retired. We fell in love with the life style and beauty of the Big Island. Our wonderful Ohana, Ui'lani and Stan will enjoy assisting you. We hope that you will enjoy our Aloha and our home,

Mahalo, Elizabeth and Leland

U`ilani purchased this cottage in 2011

Why U`ilani chose Keaau

We chose beautiful Kaloli Point area because it's rural, safe, and friendly. Towns are easily accessible, but still has that small 'coastal community feel'.

What makes this cottage unique

It's always lush and green here! We are right in the middle of the best parts of the the Windward side of the Island. Beautiful Hilo to the North and tropical Kalapana to the South. There is so much history here in the 'Aina (land).

Wonderful Hideaway

  • 5 of 5
We stayed her for 5 nights and enjoyed the place and the neighborhood immensely. Sunrises at the ocean are spectacular and something we rarely see living in California where the sun sets in the ocean. The birds, plants, wild guava right outside the door were all treats. We had a powerful rainstorm one night that was very exciting. Being close to the ocean and far from tourists was a real treat!

Owner's Response: Aloha,
Much Mahalo for your Wonderful review. Yes the sun does seem like its sitting on the Ocean when it starts to set. I sure hope you got to enjoy the guava. I too enjoy the sounds of the birds, and the beautiful plants that surrounds the cottage. Thank you for booking my cottage again in December....

Great Cottage

  • 5 of 5
This was a very clean and very nice cottage that we stayed at. We were hardly at the cottage as we drove around a lot and spent a good deal amount of time on the Kona side. But the cottage was nice to get back to at night. The sounds of nature and the area were really nice and peaceful. The only thing I could say that is somewhat negative is that the cottage didn't have a toaster. Overall, great experience

Owner's Response: Aloha & Much Mahalo for your Wonderful review, My apologies for not having the toaster put back into the cottage. While cleaning I notice a slice on the toaster cord and removed the toaster for safety reasons. I purchased a new one and forgot it in the trunk. Sorry about that (It's back in the cottage now). I am happy to hear that you found the cottage very clean & enjoyed the sounds of nature and its peacefulness. Thank you again for your Wonderful review...Take care and ALOHA.

Lovely spot and lovely house

  • 5 of 5
The windows let in the sunrise; the ocean surf beats against the rocks. Enjoy a warm beverage and watch and listen. It is gorgeous.
I stayed here for two weeks, working remotely on mostly good Internet some days and enjoying the area on the other. How great to sit at that kitchen table working on my laptop with a cup of tea and fresh Hawaiian breezes rolling in. Hard to imagine a nicer spot! Well equipped kitchen, clean and inviting house, orchids growing all around. A perfect place to enjoy HPP.

It's All True!

It's All True!

This is a beautiful cottage that lives up to its reputation. Immaculate, trade winds, beautiful surroundings, pounding surf. The beach house is extremely well equipped. I love the darkness and quiet at night, as well as the soft breezes flowing in through this very well ventilated house. It can be warm when you first arrive, but turning on the overhead fan and opening the windows cools it down immediately. Even though there are other houses near by, the place feels very private, as one does not really see the other houses due to the abundant ohia trees and beautiful foliage. This house will be my first choice when I return…if it's available. Book early…it is in high demand!

Idyllic Haven

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was as described on the website and an ideal base for our 3-day car tour of some of the best locations on the Big Island of Hawaii. Its isolation from "town" facilities proved to be more of a blessing than a disadvantage; quiet starry moonlit nights enhanced by the soothing sounds of the birds and frogs communicating,

My wife and I were delighted with "Simply Paradise". What a lovely garden setting. And the facilities were great; U'ilani and Stan have thought of everything that goes to make it a home away from home.

We wish we could have stayed longer.
