SIMPLY PARADISE ~ EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATIONS, 2 STREETS TO THE OCEAN

Keaau Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 ACRE PROPERTY ~ 1 BR-1 BATH / SLEEPS 4-5

Aloha and welcome to Simply Paradise - Hale Honu on Sunny Kaloli Point. Our cozy cottage is on a peaceful forest retreat along rugged volcanic coastline, on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just 20 minutes south of Hilo International Airport. Located in Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision, our home is in a safe, friendly, local neighborhood where you can walk, bike and enjoy the ocean scenery, you can even fish off the ocean cliffs nearby. Excellent for the whole family or perfect for a romantic getaway.

Hale Honu is an immaculate cottage with fully equipped kitchen, full bath with tub & shower, one bedroom with a double bed that has a NEW Serta, firm, quality mattress. Flat screen TV, comfortable double futon couch in living area and large lanai with hammock.

We feature 100% cotton linens and cotton bath and beach towels, bath, laundry and dish products. Both are immaculate with fully equipped kitchens and and cozy Tri-fold mattresses for extra sleeping comfort.

Guests will enjoy the sweet trade winds; being surrounded by orchids, ferns and native trees; listening to the sound of waves and venture a 5 minute walk to the ocean cliffs and view magnificent sun and moon rises out of the Pacific. Take a 4 1/2 mile hike to Shipman's/Ha'ena Beach.

During your stay take a 30 minute scenic drive up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at 4000 ft., the summit of the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. You can learn about our unique shield volcanoes and see how our islands are being created at the Jaggar Museum and Visitor Center. View ancient and active lava flows depending on activity and weather conditions. Some nights you can see the Kilauea lava 'glow' from the back lanai.

Tour the rim of the caldera at the summit and hike into a pit crater, then stroll through a 300 year old native rain forest and experience a lava tube. For the hungry hiker there are cafes, restaurants and a winery, all at Volcano Village, a charming community just outside of the park.

Take another day to discover old Hawaii. Visit Kalapana village, plant a coconut on Hawaii's newest Black Sand Beach created by lava flows in the 90's. Don't miss FREE Live Hawaiian Music outdoors here every Wed. and Fri. night and enjoy local treats at the farmers market and food stands, featuring a variety including vegan and vegetarian fare. On the way there, you'll pass the historical Star Of The Sea painted church. Down the coast you may be able to see a plume of steam rising where lava is flowing into the ocean!

Leisurely continue north along the coastline, there are many parks and breathtaking scenery. Experience exciting Zip Line Aventures North of Hilo, 5 total on the Big Island. You can often see the green sea turtles along the shore. At Pohoiki Bay you might catch some of the best surfers on the island. Fishermen launch their boats from the ramp here. Next you'll come to Ahalanui State Park. This is a must! Stay awhile, take off your shoes and relax in the warm waters.

This pond is heated by volcanic thermal vents. It is an ancient place of healing created and used for generations by Hawaiians. Once refreshed head towards Pahoa and take time to walk through Lava Tree State Park with it's fascinating tree molds and tranquil paths. Last stop is historic Pahoa town, a colorful community where you can dine or take out fresh fish, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Mexican or Thai cuisine.

Include charming, eclectic Hilo Town in your itinerary. Second largest community in Hawaii. Explore Hilo's unique history on bay front at the Pacific Tsunami Museum. Down the street you will be among friendly people as you wander through the stands of the Hilo Farmers Market. Sample Hawaiian food, fresh, hot tamales and Filipino desserts! You can purchase fresh fish, tropical flowers, organic produce and exotic seasonal fruits to enjoy. You will find yourself in lush botanical gardens, waterfalls and the largest Japanese Garden in the USA. Enjoy snorkeling at Richardson's Beach, Hilo's own black sand beach. Spot dolphins, whales and swim with turtles. Then come home to your own private retreat where you can rest up for your next island adventure!

I invite you to come and enjoy paradise!

I am originally from Iowa and Leland is a Native of Hawaii, Army-Retired. We fell in love with the life style and beauty of the Big Island. Our wonderful Ohana, Ui'lani and Stan will enjoy assisting you. We hope that you will enjoy our Aloha and our home,

Mahalo, Elizabeth and Leland

U`ilani purchased this cottage in 2011

We chose beautiful Kaloli Point area because it's rural, safe, and friendly. Towns are easily accessible, but still has that small 'coastal community feel'.

It's always lush and green here! We are right in the middle of the best parts of the the Windward side of the Island. Beautiful Hilo to the North and tropical Kalapana to the South. There is so much history here in the 'Aina (land).

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing "Simply Paradise - Hale Honu #432164 as your place to stay during your Big Island vacation.

I stopped by the cottage on your first morning being here, wanting to meet you both and to wish you folks a happy anniversary during your stay, but you had left already I am assuming to start your Big Island Vacation.

I hope you enjoyed the papayas I dropped off, but more so hoped the memories you both created on such a special occassion (Your Anniversary) was fullfilled.

I am so glad the quietness and the feeling of being in the tree house was a hit for you both.

Thank you again for choosing "Simply Paradise - Hale Honu #432164) as your place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here for one week during our one month stay on the Big Island. We chose this property based on the reviews and we were very happy with our choice. The location was perfect for exploring either north or south along the coast. We enjoyed the quick nightly trips to the ocean overlook nearby where we watched whales and the birds (Black Noddys). The reservations were easy to make, emails were always returned promptly and we were warmly greeted upon our arrival.
Owner's Response: Aloha,
We are happy you chose our place "Simply Paradise" based on our reviews, and much happier knowing you were happy making that choice once you reached and spent sometime at "Simply Paradise....Thank you.

We appreciate that you found our cottage to be in the perfect location when site seeing the North or South coastline.

And the ocean overlook that is just minutes away from the cottage, which you took advantage of for your nightly getaways, just to watch the whales, birds (Black Noddys) and the breath taking panoramic view of the ocean and rugged cliffs.

Thank you both for sharing your "Simply Paradise" experience with all that looks at my reviews.

And for your wonderful statements as to how your reservations had been handled from begining to end.

My note to you both:

I would like to thank you both for your warm Aloha when I first met you.....Thank you (Mahalo).

Take care (Malama Pono), Until we meet again. (A Hui Hou),

Aloha (Goodbye)........Nanette Manager.

This little cottage is perfect for one or two people..It's bright and sunny, even when it rains there is a lot of light. Everything written here is gospel. The location is good for going to waterfalls, Kilauea, and black sand beaches.Hilo is nearby and the little town Kea'au has everything you need for supplies. Try some of the huge assortment of poke at Foodland. It's ono. U'ilani should be the poster girl for Aloha. She's da best

the name could not have been more appropriate...I fell in love w/the place even before I walked into the house ..the surrounding, the lushness, the fresh air and all the birds ... the description is exactly what they say and more...it was clean, well maintained, and all the amenities you could ask for..I woke up w/the singing of the birds...and I would wait for the sun to come up...many nights I just sat looking out the window at the moon...this place is so close to so many wonderful places to explore...I felt at home here..the spirit of Aloha was truly exemplified by Ui'lani and Stan...I highly recommend Simply Paradise to anyone who is looking for adventure, relaxation, the list can go on and on, but why not come and see for yourself.....Mahalo Nui, Ui'lani and Stan hope to see you next year....Much Aloha
