The Old Factory Getaway is a private riverfront retreat nestled in the scenic hills of Southwestern Arkansas along the banks of the Little Missouri River. It Sleeps 8 people with two full baths. Great Trout Fishing. The cabin is located a few miles from historic Murfreesboro, Arkansas, Crater of Diamonds State Park and Lake Greeson.
Found at the end of Old Factory Site Road (just a few minutes drive from downtown Murfreesboro, Lake Greeson and Crater of Diamonds State Park), the Henley family offers a secluded cabin on the banks of the Little Missouri River.
Judy Henley purchased this cabin in 2011
The cabin sits high on a rocky bank with a large shaded deck facing the water and dense woods. On the deck, you will find a BBQ grill, table for four, hammock and porch swing to relax in while the river flows below. Inside is room to sleep eight, upstairs and down, with a separate bedroom downstairs, pull-out sleeper sofa and two baths. A full kitchen with ceramic counter-tops, refrigerator, JennAir stove, microwave and coffee maker. You'll also find satellite and three flat screen televisions.
The 'Old Factory Site' refers to a water driven mill that was located just upstream from the cabin in the mid 1800's. There was once a community, then known as Royston, at the site. The huge timber grid of the mill's 160+ year old foundation can still be seen in the river (a short walk away).
My family and I decided to visit the Crater of Diamonds state park and I found this place by a lucky happenstance. It's completely out of the way and a little difficult to find without directions, but when you get there, you will be amazed at how beautiful the place is. There is a balcony overlooking the river which is (mostly) easily accessible. The balcony has a grill (charcoal, if I recall correctly), a hammock and seating. The balcony continues around to the front of the cabin with more seating. Upstairs there are three beds, downstairs is the main bedroom and the couch in the living room has a fold away bed. It has a nice kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, sink and lots of cabinet space. The living room has plenty of seating for everyone. We went prospecting for diamonds at the Crater of Diamonds state park, but I think this place was the true gem of the trip. We went in May of 2013, but the calendar won't let me go that far back.
