Thank you for an amazing week, Craig! Jake and I felt right at home. Hope to be back in the near future :)
This was a great location for our visit to southern California to see friends; close proximity to the foothill towns of LaCresenta, Pasadena, La Canada and 5 minutes from the freeway. The garden patio was a delightful spot for morning coffee and a glass of wine in the evening. It was quiet and peaceful. The unit is modestly decorated, clean, and we really lacked for nothing. The bathroom was a bit tight though. Craig is very easygoing and accessible. I would definitely return and would recommend it as a place to stay while visiting the area.
This was the first visit to the Los Angeles area for my wife and I. It was just the two of us with a rental car and the purpose of our visit was to sight-see. The owner, Craig, is extremely communicative. After I made the VRBO inquiry he called me and shared all kinds of information about not only his home but also the L.A. area in general with a focus on tips for first timers. The house location in Glendale is centrally located to many popular tourist spots. Yes you'll need a rental car but there aren't many places in L.A. where you don't. Craig has a parking spot off the street you can use. The neighborhood is quiet. The accommodations were wonderful. Clean, comfortable, quiet. His yard/garden is amazing. You'll hear a serene babbling brook from your room coming from his backyard pond and small waterfall. We were quite busy exploring L.A. so we didn't stay in the room for much longer than to sleep every night but if you want to hang out at the house he has a comfortable sitting area in the garden with a fantastic view of the city.
Living in the country, its hard for me to relax while on vacation in the city. With the incredible thought and energy that they have placed in their yard, it makes you not want to leave. If there as ever been a reason to soften your water, it is definitely after taking a shower here and realizing how soft your skin is, like being treated to a spa without knowing it. Bring binoculars for the incredible view and bird watching. My girls and I walked to the store in the morning for fresh milk and fruit, how awesome is that? :) There won't be any availability this summer as we will be back to frequently ;)
My husband and I lived here for a month. We came out to visit our son and his friends, share son's birthday, make a big turkey dinner, and spend some time enjoying the left coast. Craig made us feel welcome from the moment we parked the car. The interior of the apartment is California Bungelo style with wooden walls and parquet floor. We were immediately right at home. But the main attraction here is the outdoor space! Perched on a Glendale hillside, with lovely city and mountain views, you'll enjoy the garden seating for reading, entertaining, and dining. Craig has created a waterfall, surrounded by beautiful plants and natural details that attract lovely birds and monarch butterflies! A pretty idyllic retreat. If your idea of a retreat is the Ritz Carleton, honestly this is not for you. But if you're looking for peace and comfort in the midst of LA bustle, book a stay here. I know we will return.
Clean, well appointed, somewhat modest feel (but we only slept there). It was memorable to take one's morning coffee by the natural spring and have the hummingbirds flittering about in the flowers. We had clear days and could also view the morning sunrise on the mountains from the same spot. It's a mere few blocks away from the main arteries but that was enough to make you feel as if you were in a mountain retreat. Craig, the owner lives above. He was friendly, accommodating, interesting, but not intrusive. We had no difficulty seeing all the sites we wished in LA. We definitely recommend it.
