Overview

Asheville Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

A perfect location for exploring downtown Asheville! This beautiful two bedroom apartment is located in the upstairs of a huge home built in 1920. The upstairs location and the surrounding trees are the reason our guests have named it the Tree House. A charming, roomy studio is the centerpiece of this attractive space.

If you like walking, you can get to the civic center for a show in about 10 minutes, or walk downtown in about 12 to 15 minutes. There are three state-of-the-art grocery stores within about a five minute walk. Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter and Greenlife Grocery are all just up the block. The Montford neighborhood just across Broadway has some gorgeous homes and a nice park, and the Visitor's Center is within easy walking distance. You could even stroll over to UNC Asheville if you feel so inclined, it's right down the street.

The studio has a large window at the end so you have lots of light. One guest stayed about a month and used it as a yoga and massage room. There is a futon sofa in the studio that can be opened out to a full size futon bed. An open floor plan leads to the kitchen, so you can enjoy your family and friends while you cook. We recently updated the kitchen floor from vinyl tile to laminate and it makes a huge difference.

The front bedroom faces Chestnut Street and you can see some of downtown Asheville from the window. It's a good sized room with hardwood floors, and an old fireplace (it's out of service but still adds character). There is a nice dresser and a closet so you will have plenty of storage for your clothes. It is very cheery and bright. There's a super comfortable queen size bed that has been described by one guest as "the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in".

The middle bedroom is a bit smaller. and features a brand new (April 2015) bed. There is a dresser and a closet in this bedroom as well, and the window overlooks the side yard, the downstairs porch and Fulton Street down below.

The bathroom is spacious and well lit by a large window and two light fixtures. It has a tub with tiled in shower and a shower curtain.

Please note that this is an old house, and it's located on a fairly busy street. There is no off-street parking, so during busy times you may have a bit of a walk. There are a lot of steps to navigate. The downstairs residents keep a well appointed and very clean chicken pen in the side yard. The home has been restored in the old style, and improvements are ongoing. Most of our guest find it charming, but it is not for everyone so please consider these facors before you rent. We want our guests to be happy and have a great experience, so if you have questions or concerns please feel free to email or call.

IMPORTANT: This is an upstairs apartment, and the caretakers live downstairs. They are available to answer questions, address your concerns, and help make your stay more enjoyable. They have three young children, so please no loud noise late at night.

We specialize in property management services for short term rentals. We can also help you get started in vacation rentals so please feel free to contact us. Visit our web site at PeteKey dot com for more information.

If you are looking to make Asheville your home, this is a perfect home base for house hunting. We are a good resource if that's your plan, as we know the area and the market. So please let us know and we will help you any way we can.

Thanks and enjoy your stay in Asheville!

Cute, funky neighborhood. easy walking distance to grocery and downtown. Clean. Adequate, not luxurious. Spotty internet. A few spring ants. No hangers. Lots of steps. Generally satisfied. Like being back in college. I would stay here again.

Reviewer Comments:

We booked six days during what turned out to be an historically cold weather event during February of 2015. The heating system (Pete, the owner, indicated was new and that he had just spent $8,000 to upgrade it), but the system ran constantly and was was unable to adequately heat the space. It was 19 degrees outside and had dropped to 62 degrees inside and would not go higher. We had to leave after two nights because the forecast was for minus eight degrees the next day. . Pete, the owner agreed with my wife to refund 50%, but ultimately refunded only 25%. 2 nights out of 6..you do the math. The exterior stairways leading up to the house used to have hand rails; they have been removed. This is a REAL problem in inclement weather. Bring baking utensils and kitchen knives of your own if you plan to do your own cooking, the kitchen is not fully provisioned. The toilet backs up. Be prepared to exercise the plunger provided. Previous reviews indicate the beds are not comfortable. In our opinion that is only partially true...we slept on the bed in the large bedroom and it was acceptable. The large bedroom is on the main street but is quiet at night. The mattress in the other bedroom was not usable in our opinion-unless you like like to sink into your sleeping surface. WiFi login info provided in the confirmation email is inaccurate. The information on the refrigerate is correct...use that. Overall, we would not recommend renting this apartment.

Owner's Response: We feel this review is misleading and not entirely honest. This guest left without notice and called us a week later, demanding a 50% refund. We agreed to look into the issue and provide a refund. It turns out that they set the heating system to "emergency heat" which provides only minimal heat. A phone call could have resolved this. We had no opportunity to help them or to make their dates available to other guests. Although they were not entitled to any refund, we gave them some money back. The kitchen is well stocked and includes a fine collection of sharp knives. We have replaced the bed in the middle bedroom. We regret that the weather was cold during their stay and understand that they did not want to be here, but that is not something we can control. This review seems to be more about their frustration with the circumstances than the quality of the unit or the service we provided.

This apt was perfect for our Christmas visit to Asheville. Very roomy and outfitted nicely. The neighborhood is perfect for walking and running. Can't express enough how impressed we are with Pete Key calling and texting us information we needed for our stay. We will definitely rent from Pete Key Properties again and likely will rent this apt again.

Notes:
This beautiful Asheville vacation rental is in the heart of it all, just minutes from downtown. It is in a historic district in an area where many homes are being restored to their former glory. This particular home is one of the largest and most beautiful in the neighborhood, and really stands out as an example of fine 1920s architecture.
