I was born and raised in Victoria and moved to the Comox Valley in 1994. I recently retired from the RCMP as a 911 Operator & Police Dispatcher. Prior to that I was a ski instructor on Mt Washington Alpine Resort. Speaking other languages has been a lifelong goal of mine and I've always loved meeting people from both Canada and abroad. Whenever I have traveled, locals have always treated me wonderfully and welcomed me into their lives. This inspired me to 'pay it forward'. It seemed only natural to have my own vacation rental so I could meet and help other vacationers enjoy their holiday in the Comox Valley.

The Roost, part of The Perch on Birch, is located on one of my favourite lanes in Comox. With the Comox Golf Course located at the end of the road leading to a lovely foot path and the many fauna that make Birch Ave their home, this location is somewhat of a haven. I have always made a point of passing by this property on my walks since 2003, each time thinking it would make a great rental property. When the property came up for sale in 2011, I did not hesitate to purchase it. After much hard work, my dream of converting two of the units into beautiful vacation rentals has been realized. The gardens are now looking beautiful as I continue to transform this once neglected property into a lovely Comox gem.
Although Comox Vallley is not a large city, it boasts some of the finest restaurants offering many delicious cuisines. Having several of these restaurants in walking distance makes for a wonderful outing while staying at The Roost at The Perch on Birch.
The Comox Airforce Base is used by the famous Snowbirds every April. Some of their incredible patterns can be viewed right from the rental property. This is the perfect place to stay during Vancouver Island Music Festival held every July as you are steps away from the bus stop and a few minutes drive to the shuttle bus parking lot.
The annual Filberg Festival and Comox Nautical Days held every August long weekend (BC Day) are just a few blocks away. This makes it ideal for guests to enjoy the festivities in a carefree manner with hassle-free parking.
My wife and I stayed here while exploring the Comox Valley for a weekend. The location is very central and there are several sights within walking distance including the grocery store and a few cafes and restaurants.
The accomodation was really beautiful and very clean. We were completely comfortable here and would recommend this to anyone wanting to sty in Comox. The little touches like fresh flowers and a little welcome basket made us feel at home. There is also a nice yard to relax in with a early morning coffee or afternoon beverage.

All necessities plus many extras have been thought of and added to make a stay very! comfortable. Super clean with the bonus of a washer / dryer. Comox has beautiful scenery, a great many tasty eateries, tennis courts and a very good grocery store all within pleasant walking distance. Check out scenery @ Goose Spit & Holmes Point (just 2 of many! places if you have a car), eats @ Benino Gelato and Rocky Mountain Cafe (downtown) and Atlas Cafe in Courtney. What a paradise with a lovely hostess. Thanks ever so much!
This 1 bedroom unit is perfect on so many levels. The location is so close to shopping, restaurants, hiking trails and all the action that goes on near the marina. The pictures and listing details are extremely accurate and in addition the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful about things to do in the area. She is friendly and easy to talk to.
I would recommend this accommodation any of my friends or any couple wanting to stay in a place with all the comforts of a home away from home.
Karen made sure the little extras were there, comfy housecoats, even slippers! She has the kitchen very well stocked with garbage bags, napkins, ziplock bags and saran wrap. When you are cooking in a new kitchen, those little things make it much easier. The bed had crisp, comfortable linens. Really handy to have a washer/dryer in the suite (better machines than we have at home!) She had a binder with recommendations of what to do in the area, including multiple printed copies of maps for the walking trails.....nice touch, we used one. The binder spelled out the 'rules' with contact numbers in case of trouble in the suite. We could barely hear any activity in the other suite, very good sound proofing. Location great, walked to the grocery store every day.
A nice 1 bedroom apt with everything I ever needed. Lovely decorated to make you feel right at home. Would come back any time. Owner was helpful and easy to talk with. We loved the Comox Road with great coffee, homemade goodies to enjoy. Went to the wharf to buy fresh fish to make a delicious supper at the apt. We loved the Atlas Cafe, Ships Ahoy Fish & Chips Takeout. Such a comfortable town to explore including Goose Spit.
This is the first time we have used the VRBO site. The accommodation in Comox was excellent. Our unit had a large bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and a very nice living room area. There was a washer/dryer, ironing board in a closet area. The place was spotless with new furniture and nicely decorated. Very close to the airport and downtown.
Karen, the owner, was wonderful. Very attentive to our needs.
We will stay there again.
Just 3 blocks from the Filberg Lodge open year round to view the botanical gardens and location of annual Filberg Festival. The Farmer's Market held Saturdays is a must see. Purchase fresh seafood right from the fishing boats at the marina. Pickup your fresh produce from nearby Seiffert's vegetable farm. Enjoy walking the sandbars at nearby beaches. Drive to Mt Washington to hike alpine meadows in the summer and snow sports in the winter.
