The Super Bowl is over. Congratulations Seattle. Easter is coming up. If you would like an Easter Egg Hunt for your kids, just ask in your request. (see Review below, (WONDERFUL VACATION - Stephanie) Come enjoy the comforts of your own home, sprinkled with a Baja's Charm. Plan a Spring trip on our fabulous beach. The Ocean setting of the house sports a surf view for three quarters of a mile to the south end of the beach. We are exactly in the middle. There is an additional 3/4 of a mile of beach to the North that offers even more privacy.
Our San Diego architect took maximum advantage of the ocean setting, lining both upstairs and downstairs with 4X8 foot panes of glass. As a result, the Sunsets are both picturesque as well as a beautiful way to conclude your day. Winter and Spring are the best!
The house sleeps can sleep up to 10, but is ideal for 6 adults and two children. In the upstairs bedrooms, we have two comfortable, recently upgraded Kings. The downstairs, on the other hand, has a double, a double futon couch and a double fold-out sofa bed. The futon and sofa bed are ideal for the kids.
La Mission is a small, gated, patrolled beach community with good restaurants close by. It is dotted with small markets, taco stands, Red Cross and a Police Station.
As you step off the patio into the soft sand, look both ways. There is a mile and a half of enjoyment in front of you. We prefer the walk to the North. It is like being on your own private island.
During the NFL football season, we offer the Sunday NFL ticket package. This allows you to watch all 8 games, while just pushing the remote to have the audio for each game. Of course, you can always, just turn to the RED Zone channel' and catch every score from every game. The other TV can be tuned to a separate NFL game; however, if the wife's prefer they can have their own separate channels. (after football, of course)
If you are a volleyball enthusiast, like I was, there is a court just to the right on the beach. Nets are found under the stairs. Just bring your ball!
On the other hand, if you are a surfer, we have a goofy footed break right out front. World renowned K-38 is just North of us while Salasipuedes and San Miguel are to the South.
This has been our weekend home away from home for some time now. Living in San Diego, it is just a 45 minute drive down the toll road to the house. Watching the dolphins feed just before a magnificent sunset, with you favorite beverage in hand, you forget about work week that you just finished. By listening to the crashing waves as they lull you to sleep, you return to the States invigorated, refreshed and ready for a new week..
If you are looking for lots of people, loud music, and younger bars - Rosarito (20 minutes North) will be more suited to your taste. Ensenada (25 minutes south), on the other hand, offers a large, crowded city atmosphere with a fabulous fish market, reasonable fish tacos and lots of shopping. Please, visit both nearby cities and see why we chose our quaint little spot on the beach in between them.
We have a number of restaurants within a mile. La Fonda, The Light House, Cieto Lindo, Maganas, and the La Mision Hotel
Also, if you prefer a pleasant wine and cheese tasting tour, Guadalupe Valley is a scenic 25 mile drive through the hills to the south. For more intimate details of the various tastings, check with Dick.
As mentioned above, if you like football or soccer, you don't have to miss any of your NFL games. The family can enjoy the beach while you keep track of your favorite team. You can watch two or eight games at the same time.
To this day our resident Historian, Charlie Wild, 86 years young, tells us about the days before the toll road, electricity and the telephone. He says, 'Those were the good 'ol days'.
Of course, we have to imagine how we could have lived without Direct TV, the wireless internet, Gas BBQs, and our Satellite dish.
LA FONDA Restaurant and Spa is one mile North. For their Sunday Brunch, You had better be hungry. The bloody Mary's I believe are included.
