This condo is located within walking distance to excellent, Zagat/Michelin rated restaurants located nearby on Chestnut Street (about a 5 minute walk). There are also a number of very hip and cool nightclubs located within walking distance up on Chestnut Street as well as Starbuck's Coffee, bakeries, and great shopping. Union Street is about a 15 minute walk away. The Marina Safeway is a pleasant 5 minute walk away. Crissy Fields beach is one half a block away and features breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge along the promenade. (This is a view that is truly beautiful!). Also within walking distance is The Palace of the Fine Arts and Pier 39.
I was born and raised in San Francisco and attended U.C. Berkeley. I live in the Silicon Valley with my family and this condo is our city home. We do not use it all the time and enjoy making it available to fellow travelers.
As a San Francisco native I know the city very well. My family and I decided to buy this condo in the Marina District because we believe the Marina is one of the most beautiful and lively districts in all of San Francisco. We bought this condo as our city home and we live in Silicon Valley, about one hour from S.F. Some of the reasons we bought in this area: you can walk to the beach and enjoy amazing Crissy Fields, excellent restaurants and bars are a 5-minute walk away on Chestnut Street, Safeway is just a 10-minute walk away. There are great biking paths as well as a movie theater, Apple store, spas and hair salons within minutes from our doorway. Even though all these amenities are nearby, the neighborhood is very quiet and family-friendly.
The condo is charming with hardwood floors and a small sun porch at the rear. You can watch ships and sailboats as they sail on the bay from the front window in the living room-truly beautiful! It is genuine San Francisco living at it's finest. Plus, on foggy evenings, you can hear the gentle sound of the fog horns on the Bay.
The condo is in the Marina just one half a block away from the beach and all of the America's Cup Sail Boat racing events. The Marina District is one of the most upscale and desirable neighborhoods in the City! You can easily walk to all the America's Cup activities and the America's Cup Village. I attended the Regattas (pre-races) and the Village has a huge viewing screen which shows the racing Sail Boats from a bird's eye view and from on board the actual racing boats. Crissy Fields Beach is absolutely beautiful and includes a promenade which runs along the beach with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, bike paths, picnic areas with BBQ's, lunch and coffee spots and pier fishing. You can also walk to the Palace of the Fine Arts (about a 10 minute walk), and the Exploratorium. Trendy Union Street is a 15 minute walk away and has world-class shopping, restaurants, bars and personal services. Pier 39 is also within walking distance- about a 25 minute walk. You can rent bicycles and enjoy a scenic bike ride. Just head to the Marina Green, about 1 minute from the front door, and enjoy safe and wide bike lanes with no traffic to deal with. You can bike into the Crissy Field National Park (The largest natural city park in the U.S.) and ride along the beach right to the Golden Gate Bridge. Bicycles are on one side of the Golden Gate Bridge and pedestrains are on the other for safety and enjoyment. Walking or riding your bike across the Golden Gate Bridge is an absolute must do experience! One of my favorite day trips is to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and ride into Sausalito. Have lunch in Sausalito which is a beautiful city full of great restarunts and art galleries. Then catch an afternoon ferry from Sausalito back over to San Francisco. You just park your bikes right on the ferry and enjoy a mini-cruise on the San Francisco Bay.
