This condo is located in the Marina district of San Francisco. It is ½ a block away from the Marina and beach. It has a view of Alcatraz from the living room and is on the second floor of a quiet, 3-unit building which is fully secured. It has hardwood floors throughout and a fully stocked kitchen. You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Palace of the Fine Arts, Crissy Fields, Golden Gate Bridge, Chestnut Street, Union Street and much more. The location is the best in San Francisco!

The sunny kitchen has a breakfast eating area, a gas stove & oven, refrigerator and microwave. The kitchen also has a small sun porch located at the rear of the condo which leads downstairs to an outside patio area and a no-charge washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen supplies including a coffee maker and tea kettle.

The spacious living room has an HDTV high-definition flat screen 48' TV, hardwood floors and amazing views of Alcatraz Island. Directly off the living room is a small half bedroom with a twin bed and a window. The condo has free, high-speed wireless internet cable access.

The bathroom includes a glass-enclosed shower over a full soaking bathtub.

Free washer and dryer is located downstairs and accessed through rear sun porch off the kitchen.

The master bedroom has a new California King bed, which is very comfortable and a large walk-in closet. The bed linens are all high-quality, 100% combed Egyptian Cotton with 600 thread count. Two sets of french doors lead from the bedroom to the living room as well as from the bedroom to the central hall way. The half bedroom is just off the living room and has a twin bed which sleeps 1 and is very comfortable.

This condo is located within walking distance to excellent, Zagat/Michelin rated restaurants located nearby on Chestnut Street (about a 5 minute walk). There are also a number of very hip and cool nightclubs located within walking distance up on Chestnut Street as well as Starbuck's Coffee, bakeries, and great shopping. About John

I was born and raised in San Francisco and attended U.C. Berkeley. I live in the Silicon Valley with my family and this condo is our city home. We do not use it all the time and enjoy making it available to fellow travelers.

John purchased this condo in 1999

Why John chose Marina District

As a San Francisco native I know the city very well. My family and I decided to buy this condo in the Marina District because we believe the Marina is one of the most beautiful and lively districts in all of San Francisco. We bought this condo as our city home and we live in Silicon Valley, about one hour from S.F. Some of the reasons we bought in this area: you can walk to the beach and enjoy amazing Crissy Fields, excellent restaurants and bars are a 5-minute walk away on Chestnut Street, Safeway is just a 10-minute walk away. There are great biking paths as well as a movie theater, Apple store, spas and hair salons within minutes from our doorway. Even though all these amenities are nearby, the neighborhood is very quiet and family-friendly.

What makes this condo unique

The condo is charming with hardwood floors and a small sun porch at the rear. You can watch ships and sailboats as they sail on the bay from the front window in the living room-truly beautiful! It is genuine San Francisco living at it's finest. Plus, on foggy evenings, you can hear the gentle sound of the fog horns on the Bay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed here for a few months and the condo is absolutely great! It is very charming and quiet-plus it's in one of the best parts of the City for sure. The beds are comfortable and the entire condo is very clean and well cared for. The kitchen is sunny and very cheerful to wake up to. Also, the high-def TV was a nice bonus. I'm coming back! Wish I could live here full-time. Beth and John are very helpful and friendly too.

Owner met us at the front door upon arrival and gave us a tour and all the codes. We stayed for about a week. We were pleasantly surprised that the views of Alcatraz Island out of the front window and other photos of the unit were exactly as shown in the VRBO ad. Unit is large enough for 2 people and one child. Bed is a true King size and comfortable. Kitchen is small but has the necessities and full size refrigerator and stove. Location is excellent, only a block away from the SF boat harbor and streets of lovely homes. The shoreline is busy with people biking, walking and jogging along the parkway, with a full view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Restaurants, coffee shops and shopping are only are only 2 blocks away and a full service Safeway Market is 1/2 mile. Closed parking in the attached garage was also a plus as the empty spaces on the street fill up fast. Security deposit was returned within a day. We will stay again on our next visit.

Apologies for just getting to write a review now, but we moved states when we got back from our travels. Our family of 3 had a fantastic time. Staying in the Marina District was great for us - plenty of restaurants on Chestnut Street and enjoyed walking everywhere, from the Bridge to Fisherman's Wharf. The apartment was very clean, quiet and comfortable with great views from the bay window. I would highly recommend this apartment and would happily stay there again.

Awesome place in SF

  • 5 of 5

We have been to SF several times and stayed in hotels but this place was the best place that we have stayed. The view of the bay, the comfortable and clean place and the quiet nice neighborhood make this place special. We also loved the proximity to the Chestnut Street area and local restaurants. John was a great host with great recommendations. Great trip - thanks - we will be back.

Loved it!

This location is perfect if you want to be in the Marina District. The view from the bay window makes this unit very unique and special. There are two movie theaters, many restaurants and shops nearby on Chestnut Street. The unit is very clean and the bed, very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back again!

Fantastic Holiday Location

  • 5 of 5

This was such a fabulous location for our first time in San Francisco. The accommodation was perfect, tastefully set up and very comfortable with all the facilities needed for an enjoyable stay. Great views on the harbour and Alcatraz. So close to wonderful shops and restaurants on Chestnut street, the marina, Fisherman's wharf and the Golden Gate bridge. We felt very safe and the neighbourhood itself was very lovely. John was such a help with any questions that we had and we felt at ease that he was always contactable if needed. I would highly recommend this holiday accommodation to anyone travelling to San Francisco, we had such a fabulous holiday staying here. We will be back again!!!

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

This condo is in a great location for any active person. It was awesome to be able to take a run along the bay and ride bikes across the Golden Gate bridge so easily. This spot is away from the busy city area and was relaxing. We enjoyed eating and going out on Chestnut street. Blackwood was a great suggestion from the owners and had a delicious meal there. The condo was a great size for 2 people and 4 would easily enjoy it too. It has it's own character and we enjoyed getting to know how things worked on the street. We used the buses and Uber to get around, Uber was the quickest and easiest, but the buses in San Fran are reliable too.

The condo is in the Marina just one half a block away from the beach and all of the America's Cup Sail Boat racing events. The Marina District is one of the most upscale and desirable neighborhoods in the City! You can easily walk to all the America's Cup activities and the America's Cup Village. I attended the Regattas (pre-races) and the Village has a huge viewing screen which shows the racing Sail Boats from a bird's eye view and from on board the actual racing boats. Crissy Fields Beach is absolutely beautiful and includes a promenade which runs along the beach with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, bike paths, picnic areas with BBQ's, lunch and coffee spots and pier fishing. You can also walk to the Palace of the Fine Arts (about a 10 minute walk), and the Exploratorium. Trendy Union Street is a 15 minute walk away and has world-class shopping, restaurants, bars and personal services. Pier 39 is also within walking distance- about a 25 minute walk. You can rent bicycles and enjoy a scenic bike ride. Just head to the Marina Green, about 1 minute from the front door, and enjoy safe and wide bike lanes with no traffic to deal with. You can bike into the Crissy Field National Park (The largest natural city park in the U.S.) and ride along the beach right to the Golden Gate Bridge. Bicycles are on one side of the Golden Gate Bridge and pedestrains are on the other for safety and enjoyment. Walking or riding your bike across the Golden Gate Bridge is an absolute must do experience! One of my favorite day trips is to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and ride into Sausalito. Have lunch in Sausalito which is a beautiful city full of great restarunts and art galleries. Then catch an afternoon ferry from Sausalito back over to San Francisco. You just park your bikes right on the ferry and enjoy a mini-cruise on the San Francisco Bay.
