Spectacular sea and mountain views makes this property unique. The house, a renovated 19th century farmhouse, was our guest house and lies within our 11.000m2 property, surrounded by vines and fruit trees on 5 lower lying terraces. Although totally separated from our own house and garden by mature trees and its own garden, living next door ensures quick solutions to any possible queries/problems. The way the house is orientated guarantees both shelter and sunshine right throughout the year. The house is perfectly equipped for both summer and winter use (we even supply firewood) and has all all those little details that will make you feel totally at home, such as hairdryer, guide books, films on DVD, books to read, games, broadband connection, etc. There are plenty of terraces for al fresco dining and the private swimming pool allows you to enjoy your holiday late into the night.

The property adjoins the tranquil and exclusive urbanizations of Rancho de la Luz and Alqueria and lies a couple of kilometres below the popular and picturesque village of Mijas with its varied range of restaurants, bars and shops. It is 7 kilometers from the town of Fuengirola and its beaches, 30 from the city of Málaga and 23 from Marbella. It is ideally located to visit Sevilla (2 1/2 hours by car), Granada and Cordoba (both 1 1/2 hours by car). Within 3 hours you can be in Morocco (car and hovercraft) and Gibraltar (1 1/2 hours by car). We have several golf courses within minutes drive from the villa: for example Alhaurin Golf and Mijas Golf are both only 15 minutes drive away. The international airport of Málaga is 20 minutes away by car. Good sand beaches are 15 minutes away and so are shopping centres with cinemas offering films in English. Several aquaparks, popular with children, are close by as are marinas.

  • Just off a small corridor from the living-room there is a bedroom with a queen size bed. This bedroom has a built-in safe for the safe-keeping of valuables. The window to this bedroom faces west and overlooks the garden and terrace. The passage then leads to the main bathroom. There is another door leading from the bathroom to a small sitting-room/extra bedroom (3rd bedroom) with the original fireplace in a corner. This room contains twin beds, which lie one on top of the other when not in use. There is a separate French-door to the garden from this room, so it is an ideal room for children to rush in and out without disturbing the rest of the house! From this sitting/bedroom there is a spiral wrought iron staircase up to a tower with another bedroom. This upstairs bedroom contains twin beds which can be fixed together to make one large bed. There is a small half bathroom with toilet and sink on this level. This bedroom has air-conditioning. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans

Notes: The property offers all the facilities you need to unwind and get away from it all. The private pool on its own terrace offers sunbeds, sun umbrellas, and even a box full of toys for the swimming pool - popular with children. We provide beach towels. The long west-facing covered terrace is ideal for a BBQ and al fresco dining. We try to make sure that you have everything you need to make you feel comfortable and at home from the moment you step into the house. Apart from the list above we also leave a small supply of tea, coffee, wine, washing-up liquid, dishwasher soap, toilet paper, kitchen paper and all those other little things that you might need when stepping into a house for the first time. You do not need to bring maps or guide books as we supply those. We will also lend you a laptop (PC) if you forget yours. And if you bring your iPod we have speakers so that you can enjoy your music. EXCURSIONS:- Los Abuelos is a perfect base to visit the rest of Andalucia and even Africa! The nearest city is Málaga (½ hour drive) Picasso’s birth place and an important port in the 19th century. Marbella (½ hour drive) still retains the quaintness and charm of the old Andalucian town it used to be. Further on lies Gibraltar, memories of Nelson and ancient sea battles visible. For those who want to visit the more authentic and historical part of Spain there are three beautiful cities within two or three hours’ drive from Los Abuelos. Granada with its unique Alhambra Palace; Cordoba boasts a Catholic cathedral within the walls of an amazing mosque and Sevilla, not to be missed, especially as it is the capital of Andalucia and has all the hustle and bustle of a modern city. On the outskirts of Sevilla lies Italica, an ancient Roman city where the Roman emperor Trajano was born. For a closer visit to an inland Spanish town try Ronda.

LIFE AT 'LOS ABUELOS':- A 15 minute walk uphill to the village of Mijas to buy your newspaper and then sit at a bar to enjoy a well-earned cup of coffee or beer. Perhaps a stroll to the village museum or wander through the quaint white-washed streets full of delightful shops and atmosphere. The children may enjoy a ride on a donkey too. Stock up with local fresh products in the market place and stroll downhill back home. Time for a swim, tennis and sunbathing. A siesta in the comfortable sunbed lulled to sleep by the hum of the cicadas and the occasional cow bell. But the best are the long summer evenings, sitting out on the south-west facing terrace watching the sun going down and seeing the activity in the nearby farms. Then at night time the spectacular views are all you need to entertain you as a cruise ship sails by in the distance and the lights sparkle from the town of Fuengirola. Oh, and a glass of wine will not go amiss!

We have been to Los Abuelos for the last 5 years it is quite simply an idyllic place to spend a holiday. The views are stunning, the accommodation is excellent and the hospitality of Amanda & Juan is second to none.
It is also a good base for touring the area and in my case golfing. The village of Mijas has some very good restauraunts and the local bar by the square that leads to the bull ring is friendly and somewhere to watch the world go by.

A little bit of paradise

Los Abuelos is our little bit of paradise and the thought of our next visit keeps us going through the gloomy winter months. The views are truly stunning, and the villa is extremely clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Amanda and Juan are charming and the perfect hosts. The ideal location if you want to tour southern Spain, with lots of local attractions and amenities for all ages. There are also some excellent restaurants locally. For us, this is a wonderful relaxing holiday.

The perfect getaway

We have been coming back to Los Abuelos for a few years now. The view, the area, the swimming pool and the villa itself make it the perfect place to relax, away from the stresses of the world. Juan & Amanda are the perfect hosts, welcoming, friendly and if needed, ready with advice and help. If you want somewhere to "chill out" or a base to tour this beautiful area of Spain, then Los Abuelos is the place to be.

Wir waren im August 2009 bereits das 2.Mal mit unseren drei Kindern in dieser traumhaft schönen Villa von Amanda und Juan, einem überaus liebenswerten und hilfsbereiten Gastgeberpaar. Die Lage ist ideal auch für den Familienurlaub. Das Meer ist nur wenige Kilometer entfernt und super mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Parkplätze am Strandbereich sind auch kein Problem. Egal ob Einkaufen, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Freizeitattrak-tionen oder Essen gehen am Abend, alles prima anzufahren und auch für Kinder attraktiv. Die Villa ist ein absolutes Schmuckstück, gemütlich eingerichtet mit allem, was man braucht, ruhig gelegen und super sauber. Von der Terrasse hat man einen traumhaften Blick aufs Meer und auf die Umgebung von Mijas. Für unsere Kids war der Pool das Highlight schlechthin, egal ob tagsüber bei Sonnenschein oder im Dunkeln mit Poolbeleuchtung. Es hat an nichts gefehlt. An dieser Stelle ein Riesenlob an Amanda und Juan und ein herzliches Dankeschön für bislang zwei wunderschöne, überaus erholsame Urlaube. Wir werden sicherlich nicht zum letzten Mal in Los Abuelos gewesen sein.
