Our home sits on almost 100 acres. Hike, snow shoe or ski out the back door. The hill in the back is great for sledding! The original stone outdoor fireplace is a favorite place to gather. The star gazing is awesome due to the lack of any light pollution.
We stayed at the Severance with another family as we had ski racers competing at Gore. The house was cozy and had plenty of room for everyone. The kids especially loved relaxing in the hot tub when we would return from the slopes. They also loved the sledding hill behind the house. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessary cookware and serving pieces. We will definitely come back next time!!
I stayed at the severance with my children, two sisters and their children. Perfect place! The house is so beautiful. Great combination of old rustic charm and modern comforts. We all agreed that we could have stayed there all winter in front of the huge hearth in the living room. Aside from skiing, the kids went sledding right out the back door and I strapped on snowshoes (of which there were five pairs at the house! ) and set out right from the house for an hour long walk through the woods.
Hot tub, wi-fi, ski slope five minutes away, whirlpool bath, nice kitchen, clean, well appointed and roomy. We will definitely be back! (Oh, and did I mention how sweet and helpful the owner, Marta, was?- Just lovely. )
We had a fantastic ski trip while staying at Severance House. Marta was an absolute pleasure to work with, and the house is amazing. A perfect combination of historic detail, warm comfort, convenient location, and exceptional value. We very much look forward to coming back soon!
This is our fifth time renting the Severance House and we have enjoyed it more each time. As the grand kids grow older they can't wait to visit the "ski house". The addition of WiFi allowed them to Face Time with there friends back in Staten Island and brag about all the things they did that day.
The owners are extremely hospitable and continue to make every effort to provide EVERY THING to make our stay most enjoyable. Loved the hot tube! Great addition. Can't wait to come back next year.
The Severance House was perfect. The house is large, comfortable, and has several modern amenities while still preserving a charming, rustic feel. The fireplace in the living room is huge and there was more than enough wood to keep a fire going all weekend. The large kitchen kitchen was also a big plus for us. There were plenty of pots, pans, and other kitchen essentials provided. And of course, I have to mention the hot tub...it was awesome! There's nothing like a nice soak after a long day on the slopes! Speaking of which, the proximity of the house to Gore Mountain was amazing. It was a quick and easy 5-10 minute drive, as the house is more or less located right off of Gore's access road.
I'd also like to mention that Marta was a pleasure to deal with. She was quick to answer any questions I had and was extremely thorough in her responses. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway!
This lovely home has it all. Farmhouse charm; cozy and comfortable with all the space you need. Renovated enough for modern comfort, but maintained all the charm. Following a great ski/board day at Gore (5 minute drive), the hot tub was the perfect place to unwind. Dinner around the farm table then some nights were games by the rustic fireplace or movies and bar games in the family room. There's plenty of room outback to snowshoe or sled (both available). We can't wait to go back!
