Large playhouse close to trails and AuSable River calling your name!

This huge 4000 sq. foot playhouse has five bedrooms (sleeps 8-18) with 2.5 baths with an acre of yard for parking, campfires, volleyball, etc. Garage space available. Stay in this home and you are minutes away from one of the most beautiful rivers in Michigan. The National Huron Forest boarders the backyard with trails for cross-country skiing, sledding, hiking. Snowmobiling, foot, horse, and ATV trails are also minutes away. Hunters, there is plenty of state land to go around! This is also the 'Kirkland Warbler's Protected Habitat' for some great bird watching. Save hundreds of dollars by not renting canoes! Six are available with agreement. Inside you can enjoy various activities such as: foosball, billiards, ping pong, cards, games, puzzles, etc. Three gaming/video T.V.s and a large HD 46inch is ready with a 150+ video library. No pets allowed in house, but kennel available in garage.

This is the perfect spot for a family vacation you will always treasure.

About Lori or Darren Mort

We are a humble couple with 4 adult children (2 in and 2 out of college). My husband and I ventured to this beautiful part of the state and fell in love with this area. After two+ years of remodeling and tweaking we're ready to share all of the fun we've had as a family with others who wish to do the same. We currently live mid-state and both are teachers.

Why Lori or Darren Mort chose Mio

Besides the spacious, comfortable living quarters with all the amenities you could want, the river really caught our attention because it is wide with a current that allows you to relax for a smooth ride whether you are canoeing, rafting, swimming, etc. This is also a designated trout stream area. The various trails are exciting and well manicured for quads, snowmobiles, motorcycles and horses. Most trail heads are within one mile from this property. So it makes for a fun stay no matter what the season happens to be!

What makes this house unique

Whether it's for one couple or quite a few with their families, this large 5 bedroom home has up and down decks with swing, picnic table, and patio furniture. There is a large fire ring out back with plenty of yard to play your favorite yard games. Bocce ball, croquet, volleyball and croquet gulf have been enjoyed. Back decks face the National Huron Forest. So much to do and see! If you need down time--it's here! If you are the active type, there are so many choices! Ideal location with 9 river inputs from Mio. Hence, the river rides can last from 1/2 hr. to 7+ hours long. Single or Small groups certainly can afford this type of fun!

Our family has had priceless experiences here...from canoeing on the peaceful, au naturale AuSable in the summer days and evenings, to the warmth of the cozy cabin and exploring the beautiful forest and area in the winter, we have had blessings abound here. Thank You for the great memories!

Fun the Whole Year

This property is one of our favorite places to visit. We try to get here at least once in the summer and once in the winter. The size of the house allows for lots of friends to come along and join in the fun. With all of the space for the kids to run around, this place is a parent’s paradise.
In the summer the woods are beautiful and the river is breath-taking. A gentle canoe trip down the AuSable is a great way to spend the day. Afterwards, unwind with your friends on the deck and let the kids play in the yard. When evening comes, move to the fire ring and enjoy a fire with a few drinks.
In the winter it feels like you are a thousand miles away. The forest is still a main attraction with a great sledding hill a short walk away. Or just take everyone to the sand hill for some down hill fun. When you get back make some hot chocolate and sit by the fire. The evening usually involves cards, stories, and laughter.

Fun Weekend at Mio

This cabin is a great place to get away with family and friends. There is a full kitchen, all appliances included, a living room, and a sun room with a fire place. There are five bedrooms with plenty of beds to hold several people with 2.5 bathrooms.The area is quiet, and in reasonable distance from a nearby store for any supplies. There is a pool table and dvd/vcr players for inside entertainment. There are trails for snowmobiling and cross country skiing, and it is a short distance from the Au Sable River.
I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a place to bring guests, or just a quiet vacation for yourself. I enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to going back.

One of my favorite places to go with my family and friends in the winter. Plenty of open space for the kids and parents to relax or enjoy games and activities with each other. A multitude of wooded trails with a breath taking river view only a pleasant walk away. Many fond memories of sledding, snowmobiling, sitting around the campfire and playing cards with friends and family. Perfect place to relax, enjoy Michigan outdoors and bring friends and family together.
