Taylor School House Cottage is located on Main Street in the heart of the artist community of Taylor, Mississippi. Painter, Sculptors, Potters, Photographers, Woodworkers, Furniture makers, and Writers live in the heart of Taylor, lending to this incredibly vibrant and unique small village. Many Ole Miss art professors are living and working in Taylor and the surrounding area. This is the new upscale destination point for the extension of Oxford's growth.
We are located six miles south of the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Traveling seven minutes straight down Old Taylor road is Oxford's downtown square and the Ole Miss campus. Old Taylor road which begins in the heart of the University at the Ole Miss Grove is a direct route to your weekend retreat. This 2,500 square foot home, built in the early twentieth century, sits on one and half acres of beautiful green space. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a 40 ft. living and dining room area, open kitchen, kitchenette, front porch, large back covered deck, 2 car covered carport and enclosed utility porch with a full laundry room.
Taylor School House Cottage is located between the Historic Taylor Main Street and the new Plein Air community. The world famous Taylor Grocery Catfish House, that has long been drawing international visitors to Taylor for it's succulent catfish, hushpuppies, ribs and live music is a stone's throw from our home. Across the street from Taylor Grocery is the Big Truck Theater and Art Gallery, which is a local venue for music and events.
Plein Air is a new addition to Taylor with an old fashion traditional neighborhood town square, located one and half blocks from Taylor School House Cottage. From our home you can walk to the Saturday Farmers Market, Antique Store and Olivia's restaurant located in the heart of Plein Air.
Location: Taylor, Mississippi USA (6 miles to the Ole Miss Grove and the heart of Oxford Square). Heading down Old Taylor Road from the University is a seven minute drive straight to your retreat. Enjoy strolling through Taylor Arts community or head into Oxford Square spending your day shopping in the upscale stores surrounding the square. Visit Square Books,one of the most exceptional independent book stores in the country and kick back at some of Oxford's great restaurants such as ~ City Grocery restaurant & bar, Big Bad Breakfast, Snackbar & Ajax just to name a few. Be sure to visit Bottle Tree Bakery and pick up some of their delicious bread and pastries to take home.
Your stay in Oxford would not be complete without taking a stroll through Rowan Oak, William Faulkner's residence and serene grounds in the heart of Oxford.
