Avalon By The Sea is home away from home. Only in this home, you get the two most delicious beaches on the planet directly across the street, and just a short walk along a well-groomed trail. Oh, but first you have to walk the 22 steps to the gate through a tastefully manicured tropical garden, complete with scores of hummingbirds, geckos, and yellow warblers.
We stayed in the downstairs, with its own wrap around terrace and open-air rooms. We love to prepare food at home and after a shopping expedition in town, we found the kitchen to have all we needed. I had forgotten to check the voltage/current on the island prior to leaving and was happy to see both European and American standards easily accessible. Internet, cable TV/radio, local phone, a fine stereo system, ample closet space, a safe, security system, a booklet with all the info you need by the phone… these folks really put a lot of thought into the guest’s experience in the house.
The housekeeper is lovely, the neighbors welcoming and respectful, and the local fisherman blow a conch shell outside when they bring in a fresh catch. Well worth getting up early for…
Bequia is my favorite place on Earth and this little gem of a home makes for a perfect base from which to enjoy it.
