New Years Holiday

Our extended family of 6 adults & 4 kids (age 3-7) enjoyed a snowy New Years holiday week in the Poconos. Activities included ski lessons for the kids at Camelback (3-day Discovery Pass was a good deal), roller skating in Stroudsburg, and even sledding on the small hill by Lake Naomi Club was a blast.
Inside, the house has a nice layout with plenty of space for cooking, eating and hanging out by the fire. We had home cooked meals each night, supported by a well stocked kitchen with fairly new appliances. The kids loved sharing the bunk room, and playing Monopoly in the loft. Outside, the property feels very private, despite being in the middle of a neighborhood. We watched the rhododendron leaves curl up as temperatures dipped into the teens, and brought the kids out to gaze across the frozen lake and throw snowballs.
If you come in the winter, know that it will take some time for the house to heat up. We arrived at 4pm, and our first dinner was a bit chilly. Then we warmed up by the fireplace, and there are plenty of warm blankets in the house. By next morning, the place was comfortable, and it remained so throughout our visit. Cell phone reception inside the house is poor, but the broadband wifi access worked great. The owner was very professional and helpful throughout the rental process, and was available to answer questions immediately on the day we arrived. As it turned out we had very few questions since she did a nice job of explaining the details via email, a few days before we arrived.
We looked at a lot of different rental listings last Fall, and I feel like we made a great choice. There's no pool table or hot tub here, no basement full of video games, but it's a clean and well appointed place that feels like... home. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to catch up on some family time.
