Nestled high in the mountains of Escaleras the charming casitas of SolRisa offer a rare, breathtaking view of both lush jungle and expansive ocean. The property includes a private waterfall, exquisite wildlife, and infinity pool. Dominicalito Beach is a five minute drive down Escaleras Road. Find world class surfing in Dominical, monkey watching in Manuel Antonio National Park, and experience the beauty of the famous 'Whale's Tale' in Uvita.
I took my son to Costa Rica for two weeks this summer for a graduation present. Solrisa was our last stop. We stayed four nights. Though we really enjoyed the other two places we stayed, Solrisa was my favorite by far. The view is stunning. Both the swimming pool and the casita deck look out, first, over the beautiful manicured tropical gardens, a favorite hangout for butterflies and hummingbirds. Beyond the gardens are the trees. We got our best views of toucans and aracari from Solrisa. They were always in the trees, about twenty yards away from the back deck. We had a sloth in one of the trees during our whole stay. Finally, beyond the jungle is a spectacular view of the coastline below. I loved to just sit in the pool and enjoy the view. Can't wait to go back with my wife.
The Casita was itself also a very nice surprise, way exceeding my expectations. I was surprised to find all the conveniences of home at the Casita. This was the only place in CR where we could count on hot water. Likewise it was the only place we stayed that had a full sized refrigerator, microwave (though we weren't smart enough to operate), and even a washer and dryer--that was a nice luxury. The kitchen is a nice size and has plenty of pots and pans and dishes--not something you can always count on in a VRBO. The bed was big and comfy and the bathroom was large and well-equipped.
Like most of the places we stayed in CR, there was no AC. That was not at all a problem. It is high enough above sea level we were never uncomfortable and never missed having AC.
The waterfalls were an awesome bonus. I wasn't really expecting that to be so beautiful. The hike is a bit steep, but has rope railings most of the way down and the experience is well worth the effort. Not only were the falls spectacular, but we even found a type of poison arrow frog (little red one) that we hadn't seen on either of our two guided nature treks.
Larry was great to deal with stateside and both Don and the caretaker were warm and hospitable as well. Without reservation I wholeheartedly recommend Solrisa.
Our stay at Solrisa was unforgettable. Unforgettable for so many different reasons. Our casita was equipped with everything we needed and more! The views are breathtaking, the landscaping was beautiful, the owners and caretakers (the mrs caretaker is the best cook in Costa Rica) are so welcoming and extremely humble. We were visited daily by several Toucans and arose every morning with the passing of the Howler Monkeys. The pool was well maintained and steps away from either casita. The waterfall was about a 10 minute hike through the jungle, well equip for the young (we took our 14 month old and he enjoyed every rock and when the water hit his head standing under the falls) and elderly. Once you enter the jungle there are steps and rope to guide you the whole way to not only one waterfall but three! This was not our first visit to Costa Rica but this was our most enjoyable stay!
We highly recommend Solrisa!!
Our family rented both casitas at Solrisa and words can not describe how perfect our stay was! The personal attention we received was outstanding. The casitas were very clean and had every amenity. We also purchased traditional tico meals from the caretaker. Spectacular!
Highly recommend staying at Casita Solrisa!!
