Most Relaxing Vacay in a While!

I recently spent 4 days on Harker's Island, NC in this lovely little "get-away". I took along my kayak, swim suit and a couple of changes of shorts and tees. The house is fully equiped with everything you need for the perfect stay. Washer, dryer, big screen TV, DVR with plenty of great movies, tons of interesting books about "the NC Outer Banks" and "the mariner's life", front porch with rockers, and a grassy yard that was completely fenced in for my black labrador retriever. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare great meals...plus a gas and charcoal grill. I loved the openess of the hugh great room. The kitchen, bar, dining room and living room are all one room, and great for friends to gather while we cooked our meals. When we didn't have time to cook after coming in from the Cape....we just strolled a couple of minutes down to Miss Faye's Fish Hook Grill for her famous Down East Clam Chowder and delicious homestyle meals. We made several trips over to the Cape and Shackleford Banks for shell hunting, (which is the some of the best on the East Coast), sunbathing and watching the wild ponies. While at the Cape we climbed the lighthouse and then relaxed on the beautiful beach for hours. It was a very convenient ferry trip over and back. We simply walked about 4 minutes down to the end of Ferry Dock Road to the marina, and hopped onto Captain Sandy's ferry. In 15 minutes we were on the shore of Cape Lookout National Park. When we were ready to return, Capt' Sandy picked us up right where he dropped us off.
The kayaking was amazing. There are lots of different water routes to take around the island....all easy to access. We had our own kayaks, but there is a kayak rental shop about 5 minutes from the house.
I highly recommend this vacation rental. While it is not located on the water, it is in a nice neighborhood, walking distance from most everything you would need or want, and just a short ferry ride over to 2 of North Carolina's most sought after vacation destinations....Cape Lookout and Shacklefor Banks. With all of the immenities, I found Cape Escape rental prices extremely reasonable. I will go back again and again!
