This open concept two-bedroom - two-bathroom 1760 ft2 waterfront cottage has just been painted and updated inside! It features 2 wraparound decks with unobstructed views of sunsets up the Strait of Georgia. It is located on a picturesque bay with rocky outcrops and a black sand & gravel beach; perfect for swimming, lounging, walking your dog or launching your kayaks. The beach access is just a short walk from the front door.
The cottage is about 30 years old – it has a casual vibe and a lot of character. The living spaces and furniture are designed for comfort and we encourage you to “put up your feet, sit back and relax” as you enjoy the ever-changing ocean views and hypnotic sounds of the water.
All of the living areas as well as the master bedroom have sweeping views across the Strait of Georgia and the coastal mountain range. The cottage has 2 fireplaces; one in the main floor great room, and the other in the den off the master bedroom. The kitchen is open to the living area, has a sit-up eating bar and is conveniently located by the main floor entry.
The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and is located on the lower level. It features floor to ceiling windows that face the ocean and open to let in the cool ocean breezes. The master also has a 3-piece ensuite bathroom and direct access to the lower deck.
The second bedroom has a double bed and is located on the main floor. It has 2 windows with views of the mature trees surrounding the property. It is adjacent to the main 4-piece bathroom.
As an added bonus, there is a cozy sleeping cabana with a double futon bed/lounger that is perched about 25 feet above the beach. It opens on to a private deck with amazing views of the beach, Strait of Georgia and coastal mountain range. (By the way – it is the perfect spot for sipping cold drinks and watching the sunset across the bay)!!
The cottage is fully equipped, from kitchen crockery, utensils and appliances, to bedding, linens and a full-sized laundry room – it even has an outdoor clothes line! There is a teak dining table for 4, a barbeque and plenty of seating on all the outdoor decks.
The living area includes a flat-screen TV and a small radio/CD player. There is seating for 4-6 at the dining room table. The cottage is also equipped with high-speed internet access.
The Bonito Beach Cottage is located on a quiet cul-de-sac, between Schooner Cove Marina and the Fairwinds Golf & Country Club. There are also many other golf courses within a 30-45 minute drive. A major grocery store and gas station are a 5-minute drive away. Parksville is about 15 minutes to the north, while Nanaimo is only 20 minutes south on Highway 19.
For those who like to hike and bike and just walk the dog, access to the 600 acre Fairwinds forest reserve is less than 1 km from your doorstep. There are many kilometers of trails, through the coastal Garry Oak forests with 2 small lakes and an abundance of wildlife.
Located between Schooner Cove Marina and the Fairwinds Golf/Country Club, this is the perfect base from which to enjoy your Vancouver Island vacation. Take day trips to Victoria, a 2 hour drive or Long Beach/Tofino - 2.5 hours away.
