Taos Ski Valley Chalet Rental Photos and Description
Streamside Chalet with Private Hot Tub, 2 Bedrooms (sleeps 6) and 2 Baths
NOTE: PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER FOR AVAILABLE DATES
With large decks (800 sq ft) overhanging the Rio Hondo, in a private heavily forested mountainside setting and with a stream-side Hot Tub, Chalet Rio (with easy winter access) is a short 5 minute drive to the Taos Ski Valley and about 20 minutes to the Taos village center.
Being the owners second home, the interior (about 1100 sq ft) is nicely, artfully and comfortably furnished to blend into the superb natural outside setting. With two bedrooms, one being a very large loft with 2 Queens, Chalet Rio comfortably sleeps six. The beds are very comfortable. It has a full kitchen, large living room, large dining area and 1.5 bathrooms, including washer and dryer. With hardwood floors (and area rugs), a 2 story high wood vaulted living room, and large picture windows on all sides to view the mountain sides, the stream, the bird feeders and the aspens and blue spruce trees, the retreat setting has been described by some of our guests as 'meditative and magical'. The multicolored mini lights on the large spruce next to the Hot Tub add to that feeling at night.
The living room is large, has comfortable recliners and couches, a corner fireplace, a ceiling fan, a library of books, CDs and DVDs, Satilite TV and a stereo system. Sitting there, you can look right up the Rio Hondo, watch the birds on the feeder as well as squirrels and chipmonks. In winter, the view from the living room of winter birds, snowbanks, icecyles and the outdoor mini lighted tree can be extraordinary.
It is a large kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. It has all the dishes, stainless ware, and other kitchenware and gadgets of a home. We also provide sugar, flour and an assortment of spices
Expandable wood table with chairs seating 6 persons
The upstairs bedroom is a very large loft. It has a Queen bed and a Queen Futon, but one with a comfortable spring mattress. There are two sets of drawers. The downstairs bedroom has a full closet and a Queen bed. During the summer, when the windows are open, you can hear the stream at night which most guests enjoy.

About The Owner
Lane and Ann Kirkpatrick have lived around the USA, but having become familiar with New Mexico, we made a decision 21 years ago to become permanent residents here. We have our primary residence in Corr ales, NM and always enjoy our escape and retreat to Chalet Rio alone or with our family and friends.
The Owner purchased this chalet in 2004
Why The Owner chose Taos Ski Valley
Lane and Ann Kirkpatrick bought this property initially because of the great skiing at the Taos Ski Valley and because of all the other exciting activites we saw going on in Taos. It wasn't long after purchasing the Chalet that we realized what a great place it also was in the other 3 seasons with hiking trails accessable right out our front door, beautiful wildflowers and a clear mountain stream in the summer and golden aspen leaves around the Chalet in the fall. AND WOW!.... to escape the Albuquerque heat in the summer has been a real blessing!
What makes this chalet unique
Year round hot tub
Solitude and privacy
Decks look down on the Rio Hondo
Dense forest and greenery
Big picture windows everywhere
Easy winter access
Guestbook comments from the owner
"Some really good things to do are go to the ski lift, play in the river, hike, go fishing and go horseback riding, looking for chipmunks - there's lots of them. This cabin was great. I loved the hot tub. I might come in the winter and ski!
P.S. Once I went horseback riding I loved it so much that I think I will quit soccer and start horseback riding. Thanks"
