Large Villa with private pool, in a scenic quiet location near the sea

Villa Sedir is a charming part restored farmhouse part new stone build using local stone and timber and is owned and maintained by a friendly local family.

As well as the bedrooms this well planned Villa has 2 kitchens, 2 living areas and 4 bathrooms. The layout is perfect for two families, or a family with older children/older parentsso that not all facilities have to be shared by everyone.

The views from the pool area are of the hills and forests as the surrounding area is not built up. The great pool has plently of sunshine, sunbeds and and has flower filled gardens surrounding the edge of the pool and terraced areas.

It is one of the closest Villas in the Village to the sea, a short drive or bus trip away or even a walk for the more energetic.

Most families are content to stay by the pool and relax, with trips to the nearby market or restaurant for supplies.

Alternatively there are many interesting activities, ruins to explore, beaches and beauty spots in the area

Kaya Village: Kaya is one of the rare places where you will truly find the unspoilt side of Turkey and experience real Turkish culture and Village life. It is the perfect place to relax or to explore the forest trails and beaches and bays of the Turquoise Coast.

Neighbours can been seen tending to their animals and bustling about with domestic chores or collecting wood and herbs from the hillsides. A must is to sample their delicious home made yoghurt, cheese, honey, fresh Village eggs, olives, oils, jams and vinegars as well as a wonderful range of sun ripened fresh fruits and vegetables.

Kayakoy Ruins: Kaya Village is located around the historic ruins of Levissi. Approx. 400 ruins of lie nestled against the hillside, forming a unique open-air museum. Levissi (or Karmylassos) was abandoned as part of a forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. Exploring the site via worn pathways weaving between houses and churches is a wonderful experience.

The ruins of Levissi were the inspiration for the Louis De Berniere’s novel Birds Without Wings. 'Birds Without Wings begins in the early 1900s in an idyllic town in South West Anatolia during the declining years of the Ottoman Empire. It traces the fortunes of one small community in which Christian and Muslim lives and traditions have co-existed peacefully over the centuries, and in which friendship, even love, can transcend religious differences.'

Climate and suggested activities: April, May, October - perfect for walkers, mild yet warm weather, spring flowers in the Valley

Kaya Village is located just 8km from the harbour Town of Fethiye in Southwest Turkey where the Mediterranean and Agean Oceans meet.

The beautiful coastline is referred to as The Turquoise Coast . The iconic Oludeniz beach is 10km drive. The quieter Gemiler Beach bay is just 5km away.

Many historic sites and the stunning Saklikent Gorge are within 1 hours drive from Fethiye and are worth a visit as well as other historical sites, beaches, beauty spots and museums.

The Villa is 1hr 15 min from Dalaman Airport and 3-4hrs from Antalya airport.

The Village itself is in the Kaya Valley, a flat area surrounded by mountains, natural pine forest and unspoilt beaches. Fethiye town has a big open Market day, an old bazaar type shopping area, marina, ancient rock tombs, a knights island and castle and a Roman theatre.

The location of this Villa is fantastic as beaches, resorts, shopping and popular sightseeing areas are easily accessible but the Village itself is quiet

Notes: Internet dongle will be available on request. Good Wireless Internet Access can be found at a quiet restaurant only 200m from the Villa. As all bedrooms are upstairs elderly guests who have problems with stairs might not be comfortable. Alternatively they could use sofabed and downstairs bathroom. Larger groups may be able to rent property next door aswell sleeping up to 18 people.

We stayed in Villa Sedir for three weeks with 6 people.The owner showed us the property the first day. Everything was clean and tidy. The swimming pool and court yard were very nicely kept. The house is in a beautiful area, with Gemiler Beach and the abandoned Greek village of Levessi very close. The drive to Fethiye through the mountains is only 14 km. The owner took us on his boat to the islands from Gemiler beach. The sea is beautiful. We enjoyed the vacation and would love to stay again.

Have just returned from a three week stay in Vill Sedir. We are a family of five, our children are 14.16 and 18 yrs. Our holiday was lovely. Clare, Ahmet and family looked after us extremely well. The pool and gardens are tended to daily by Ahmets sister who was very discrete and friendly. She brought us fresh fruit and made wonderful herb and cheese pancakes on our last day. Ahmet took us on a tour of Gemiler bay in his little boat and cooked us a delicious meal of fresh (huge) fish and vegetables. The villa suited us very well as the children enjoyed staying on one side of the house with us on the other. Air conditioning and clean, comfortable beds meant we slept really well. The pool, terraces and garden were lovely and well maintained. We felt safe and private. Buying fresh fish, meat and veg easy and local. Lots of good places to eat, and cultural days out.

We rented Villa Sedir and Villa Gulay (next door, same owner) for one week late May 2010 for a 50th Birthday celebration. There were only 7 of us but we like to have our own space so these villas were perfect.

Ahmet and his wife Gulay are lovely, helpful people and the villas are well equipped. There was an issue with a shower not working and also no toaster and these were sorted straight away with no fuss. The pools are kept spotless and the gardens are beautiful with fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs for free. We enjoyed apricots, peaches, lime, cucumber and mint to name a few.

The nearest restaurant Kinali is great and they will deliver if you are feeling particularly lazy! I would also recommend Villa Rhapsody and Istanbul restaurants (they will both collect and return from the Villa). The local dolmus (bus) is great and will take you to Gemiler beach, Hisaronu or Fethiye. The fish market in Fethiye is a great experience; choose your fish/shellfish and then for 5TL have it cooked for you with salad and bread at one of the surrounding restaurants...heaven!

This was my second time at Villa Gulay and I would definitely come back. Once you get used to the rural noises (local wildlife!) it is one of the most relaxing places to spend some time but within easy reach of lots of activities (horse riding, quad bikes, para gliding etc) and many historical sites and places of interest.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday at Villa Sedir. The Villa was comfortable and clean with everything we needed, the pool was also cleaned everyday. We would recommend a car as Kayakoy is away from the main towns and resorts however there are taxis in the village. The Village has a few restaurants, mini markets and you will find water sports at the beach (ask for Ozzie.) We were made welcome by Clare (representative) and Almet (owner of the villa). We would defiantly go back and would recommend this Villa. Hodge Family England
