An updated BBQ area located poolside features stainless steel BBQ's just re-done AGAIN!!! in 2014, granite counter and gas burners; the outdoor tables and chairs also located poolside are ideal for dining 'al fresco' at sunset or under the stars with the warm tradewinds, swaying palms and the gentle sounds of the breaking surf!

Depending on the season it is not uncommon to wake up in the morning to brilliant rainbows, spot sea turtles bobbing in the water in front of our parklike grassy knoll and watch Humpback whales breaching through the ocean's blue canvas; all truly a breathtaking and awe-inspiring natural work of the Island's magical art.

This is our second home and it we are committed to keeping it clean, fresh and nicely appointed; we know you will enjoy it as much as our family, friends and of course as much as we do!

About John

We wanted a second home on Maui and thought why not? – let's make this a vacation home for others to enjoy as well! Kevin grew up partly in La Canada, California and partly in Hawaii on the island of Oahu in the Kahala area while his father was a cameraman on the original Hawaii Five-0. He is a professional photographer of 35 years as well as a Realtor/Partner with John and sister Marion in The Fairbanks Group at Coldwell Banker. Ray is from the mid-west 'Indiana' and although home base is now California it is even tough to keep him off Island!

John spent several years overseas in Germany with his family but calls Southern California his first love; he was raised a beach boy! Maintaining his successful real estate career in So Cal for more than 25 years (BTW - he will sell your house on the mainland and get you into a home in Maui; he decided it was time to begin a new life adventure!

So here we are...without pets; our second home does not allow them. Our first home is resplendent with them!

When not in our Kahana home, we live in Altadena, California close to Pasadena - home of the world famous Rose Parade and Rose Bowl and amazing architecture.

Perfect location for our favorite restaurants in West Maui. Love the uniqueness of the property with only 16 units right on the water away from the hustle bustle of the big resorts. Would love to live here full-time someday! During 'Whale Season' the view is spectacular...you can almost feel them on our lanai! In addition we have a rack for Kayak storage that is exclusive for our home and available for your enjoyment!

Perfect first time Maui vacation

This was our family's first visit to Hawaii and we felt like we were at home in this wonderful condo (4 adults and 1 teenager). Plenty of room for our family with all the amenities we needed; beach towels, chairs, coolers, boogie boards and a kitchen with dishes, cookware and plenty of utensils. We had most of our meals at the condo and used the grills at the pool to cook a couple of dinners. We walked on the beach at sunset, enjoyed the stars through the sky light and fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. It's a perfect location with so many exciting places to visit close by and easy access to drive anywhere on the island. From our first inquiry of the condo to the day we returned home, John was extremely helpful and wanted to ensure that our stay at their wonderful home was exceptional. He gave us so many wonderful tips and ideas and called to make sure we had everything we needed. Simply amazing! We would love to come back and stay at their wonderful paradise home again. Mahalo!

PARADISE FOUND

Spectacular may just be an understatement! Imagine awaking to breathtaking ocean views & ending your amazing day with a postcard worthy sunset. That was just the beginning! All this & more in a private oasis like setting that includes a private beautiful beach not run over with tourists. Be mesmerized by views of Molokai & Lanai. Imagine taking it all in: kayaks passing by, sail boats in the horizon, sparkling blue ocean water, pristine sands, whales & turtles….if this is not paradise I am not sure what is! Now if the beach isn't your thing there’s the gated & relaxing sparkling swimming pool. We seemed to forget all the tourist attractions. What else could we ever need or want? Our home away from home had it all! The owner, John, is gracious & makes sure you’re settled in! There’s a true pride of ownership in this amazing decorator perfect home. Many vacation properties are “rentals” reflecting that “very generic” look. Not the case here! This is John’s home away from home & it shows. Elegant furniture, great ambiance & very clean!. Real, not peek-a-boo views beckon you from every room. Sit on the balcony, relax. You may wonder if you ever will go back to the mainland. We never wanted to leave! Talk about amenities… There is nothing we could want for, having all we could imagine & more. If we wanted to cook there were nice appliances, spices , cooking utensils etc We felt at home, only better! There were even beach chairs & beach stuff…Does John think of everything? What I am trying to emphasize is everything just seemed to be quality & perfect! You can even BBQ! Seriously… why even leave this paradise? Of course if you want some night life you’re close to everything. John even leaves you a list of suggestions. Lahaina is a short distance away, if you want to just get away for just a couple of hours. I doubt you will! We stopped at Costco on the way in – close to the airport & stocked up – later we found great supermarkets not too far away from the property. Next time I may even skip the Costco experience. Usually after 7 days or so I can’t wait to get back into my own bed! Not the case here! I was teary eyed leaving & can’t even begin to express how sad I was when I closed the door behind me as we left. I look forward to our next trip in this picturesque setting . A fairy tale dream vacation come true! We look forward to making new memories here again very soon! Aloha!!!

Outstanding beach-front home away from home

Our two week stay at this condo was outstanding. The only thing I wish we could have done differently with the condo was to stay there longer!!! Alas, we had to return to real life! :) Our goal for this trip was to relax from our busy lives and this condo was the perfect way to do this. We spent entire days by the beautiful pool with our three children, grilling our lunches and dinners there poolside. The beach, just steps from the condo door, was just sheltered enough to allow our 9 and 7 year olds to play in the water using the boogie boards, noodles and other water toys provided in the storage closet. We did take several day trips to other areas of the island to see the additional world-class sights Maui has to offer (a whole other review in and of itself!) and our kids kept asking when we could get back to the condo and the pool!!!

The condo was very well accommodated and included all the kitchen essentials we needed. Although, our 2 month old baby was too little to use them on this trip, the pack-n-play, high-chair and even baby spoons provided would be extremely helpful for anyone renting the unit with a baby.

The owners are incredibly accommodating and friendly; moreso than I have ever found when renting other units. John, numerous times, stressed that if we had any questions to call him directly, which I did once while we were there. He returned my call expediently and answered all my questions and then some! Since we were staying for two weeks, John and Kevin provided maid service twice while we were there, which was greatly appreciated.

Overall, I would highly recommend this rental unit! Falling asleep under the stars above the skylights to the sound of waves crashing on the beach, this was a vacation me and my family will never forget. When we visit Maui again we will absolutely be renting this unit without hesitation!!!

Possession of Heaven for 10 days

We stayed at this gorgeous location from 9/17 to 9/26/14. It was best vacation we have ever had. The location is perfect with a view of the ocean. The condo is in excellent condition and equal or better than the residence of probably the majority of those who would call this place their temporary home. It has everything you could possibly need, including beach towels and toys for the ocean. The living room ceiling has numerous skylights which allow you to view the stars when laying in the loft bedroom. There is also beautiful stain glass in the master bedroom which glimmers with the morning sunshine. Open the windows and sleep to the sound of the ocean. The amenities of the condo include a swimming pool and barbecue grill. (The owners even included an infant highchair and stow away bed. They leave nothing for the imagination of what you could possibly need.) Bring the food and wine in and you could stay and have a great time without leaving the property. If you can pull yourself away, the condo is located only miles from Lahaina, which is the center of activity on this side of the island.

Kahana Vacation

We spent 8 fun filled days at this vacation condo. We found the accommodations exceptional as the condo had plenty of room for 6 adults. It was nice to have a pool in our front yard and the beach steps away. The owners were great as they arranged a condo refresh half way into our stay. They also provided a wealth of information on activities and restaurants. The condo is nicely furnished and the beds were very comfortable. One of the best things about this vacation home is that you are minutes away from Ka'anapali and Lahaina. During our stay we went snorkeling to Molokini, rented scooters (they have motorcycles too), rented a paddle board and paddled at the beach in front of the condo, snorkeled at black rock by the Sheraton Hotel. Great places we ate at included "Star Noodles", "Mama's Fish House", and "Honu Pizza and Seafood" (the pizza was killer!). This vacation home is definitely worthy of a return trip.

Clean, Comfortable, Well Equipped

My wife, three sons and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Kahana Outrigger. The unit was exactly as advertised. It was very clean, and the kitchen was well enough equipped for us to prepare and enjoy several meals. Even beach towels were provided. The common lawn just above the beach was a terrific place to sit and enjoy the sunset. Beach chairs were provided as well. Kahana is just a short drive from beautiful beaches at Kapalua and Ka'anapali with free parking at each. John sent us a packet of information listing among other things, nearby restaurants, markets and beaches. We felt as though any activity or excursion on the island was within easy reach. We would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay on Maui.
