The 'whispering' pines. Set in a stand of mature pines, on a beautiful bay, ShangriLodge is the definition of serenity.
Peaceful yet convenient to many amenities.
We had a blast for this New Year's when we visited the Shangri-Lodge. Such an amazing house - well-kept, clean, roomy, cozy and with an atmosphere of rural Wisconsin. Everything was in perfect order, all just like described, and then some - the owner did not mention that the house is a perfect friends-and-family destination. I appreciated the effortless communication with the owner as well, easy to deal with.
I highly recommend this property to everyone, you will have a great time!
What you see is what you get...plus some. The house is lovely and clean with plenty of room for everyone. We played in the water and lounged on the deck. The guys did the "fishing thing" and had a good time (best luck at Cranberry Lake) and the gals ventured into Hayward for some shopping. We would come back tomorrow if we could.
Our family of 5 and 1 friend was privileged to be able to stay at Shangri-Lodge the week of Christmas, what a wonderful cabin with picturesque setting. The lodge was just as described and the pictures on the web are accurate. The lodge was decorated for the season with a large Christmas tree (real) and all. The owners, did all the little things to make us feel like guest in their home not just renters of a cabin. The kitchen is fully equipped and was great for preparing meals. We enjoyed the warm fireplace (firewood supplied) and had plenty of snow for snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Miles of well maintained snowmobile trails are close by and we were able to rent machines (also nearby) for a day excursion. I am sure the summer is great with the lake but I’m not sure anything could match our winter visit, it was outstanding! This cabin will be on our short list of places to come back to.

Thanks for a great week at the Shangri Lodge. We enjoyed the beautiful deck and screen porch, well stocked kitchen, and bountiful games and movies for the young adults in our group. The lodge was private, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed kayaking on the Brule, shopping, a day trip to Duluth and campfires at night. Thanks for sharing your peaceful space with vacationers.
We were able to spend a fantastic week at Shangri-Lodge with our entire family. This beautiful well maintained retreat, which has so much more than described, allowed us to have our own space when needed but also gave us the opportunity to spend quality family time by a fire, watching the stars, enjoying delicious meals and playing on the beach area. There are also many beautiful nearby golf courses to choose from. Although we did not do many of the sightseeing ventures we did go into nearby Hayward to play mini golf and have some delicious ice cream at West's Dairy. The owners were extremely welcoming and made us feel like we belonged. We have stayed at several VRBO rentals throughout the years but found this one to be the most accomodating and have a very personal touch. We feel so blessed to have had this time. Thank you, Claire and Ken!
We had a great time at Shangri Lodge. The photos were quite accurate, and actually are not flattering enough! The house is very well-equipped. We especially recommend it for families. Our toddler had a blast with all of the fun toys in the kids room. The outdoor spaces are expansive and very well-kept. Ken was helpful and responsive. We definitely recommend the place!
