About Senda

My husband Mario is a teacher and I am a public health researcher. We both work at the university. We have lived in Wash DC for over 15 years and we love DC! We have two daughters who go to school at Capitol Hill. We live upstairs in a row house. The apartment that you plan to rent is at the lower level and it has a private entrance. If there are any problem downstairs or need something, we are upstairs ready to help out.

Senda purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Senda chose Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill is a fun place to stay. You will find lots of young people and young children. It is a very family friendly town. The metro and bus service are just around the corner. You do not need a car at all. The row house is old and antique. It has its own character but we updated the apartment in four years ago. It is still new and modern.

Not as described 2 rooms, one bed, one couch.

  • 3 of 5

I'll start with the bad, its not two beds, it's a bed plus a pull out couch so right off the bat the description is misleading. If I knew ahead of time the second bed was actually a couch we would have looked elsewhere. The unit is small, and probably good for a couple and a small child. Four adults can not fit comfortably in the unit. It's a walk through, which means in order to get to the back bedroom you have to walk through the first bedroom. The Pictures show a light/bright unit, there are only three windows also we were left a message telling us that the blinds and windows needed to be left closed. It is an up and coming neighborhood which is why there are bars on windows and doors, not a place I'd have my wife/kids walking around at night.

The location is ideal. Right off of metro stop easy to get to and some decent shops/restaurants within walking distance but again every night walking home we were bombarded by homeless asking for money.

Owner's Response: I apologize you did not have the chance to review vrbo summary before renting the apartment. The leather sofa bed with an actual mattress is being noted in the vrbo. Ill be happy to change the bed frame. Thanks for the feedback. Two rooms are annexed that are also mentioned in the vrbo. I have two young kids living in the house for than ten years. This exclusively historic neighborhood is a family-oriented community where there are many young kids reside everywhere in this location. The playground for young kids is across the street from my house. I am sorry you don't feel safe at night but this is city; there are people everywhere especially unscaled amenities that residents and customers enjoy strolling outside in right across the park. We are under the grid of Capitol Hill Law Enforcement which is why this particularly Eastern Market is explosively popular today. Needless to say, bars on the windows are typical for historic homes and it's normal. The elongated apartment is bright as I would say that most apartments have limited windows. This one is three wide bay windows and back windows. We never had a problem with previous renters. Again, I am sorry you didn’t have a good experience.

Comfortable space in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

My family of four enjoyed our four night stay in this apartment. It was very clean and spacious. The kitchen is nicely upgraded and well stocked and the beds and furniture are comfortable. You are super close (5 minute walk) to Eastern Market station and a lot of great restaurants. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is fantastic! It is clean, well equipped, safe and only steps from the Eastern Market Metro stop. I recommend it to anyone that wants to stay in a vibrant neighborhood. There are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance as well as the iconic Eastern Market. I will definitely book this apartment for my next trip.

GREAT LOCATION NEAR GREAT RESTAURANTS

  • 4 of 5

Our 1st time visit to DC was wonderful! We met our grown son and the space met our needs for 2 baths & 2 Bedrooms. Only drawback was that you had to walk thru 1st BR to get to the 2nd BR. Very clean and updated kitchen & nice Bathrooms. We walked to Barrack's Row almost every night to eat & enjoyed The Matchbox, Las Placitas and several good Italian places. We highly recommend this location near metro & within walking distance to Library of Congress.

Beautiful Apartment and Close to Everything! Walk Across the Street to the Metro.

  • 5 of 5

Everything you need is within walking distance! Safeway grocery about 15 min walk but Rite Aide and small organic grocery just across the street. Really enjoyed riding the Metro subway everywhere for cheap, but if you like to walk, it's only about 15 minutes to the Capital and National Mall area. The apartment is very cozy and the 4 of us slept very comfortably with an a/c unit to keep us cool. The landlord lives right upstairs, in case any questions or concerns. Loved it here & look forward to staying again!

Our 10 days in Washington DC

  • 5 of 5

My 21 yr old son and myself stayed in this apt for 10 days while we vacationed in DC. The apt was perfect for us!

First of all, the location and the neighborhood was awesome. The metro was only 1 block from the apt which was so convenient. There was also a grocery store nearby as well as restaurants, shops, a CVS pharmacy, and a Dunkin doughnut coffee shop. We walked wherever we wanted to go in the neighborhood and always felt safe. We were close enough to walk to the Capitol too.

It was so nice to have a spacious apt to come back to at the end of a sightseeing day rather than a cramped hotel room. We had everything we needed. Comfortable furniture and plenty of kitchen necessities.

Located in the Capitol Hill Historic District on one the 'best blocks', everything Washington has to offer is at your fingertips. The Eastern Market Metro is half block. An assortment of restaurants and shops are two blocks away in Barracks Row and one block away in Eastern Market. Within walking distance you will find the bustling with an open air market that filled with full of organic fruits, meats, vegetables and lots of household, clothing and other cool stuff.

In addition, the Washington Nationals baseball stadium, the National Mall, and all the major historical attractions, theater, music and nightlife are easy access. It is even walkable to the Capitol building historical areas.

Best of all, Washington National Airport is a 15 minute trip by automobile or an easy Metro ride and Union Station is easy by DC Circulator bus or even walking within 20 minutes. Capital Bikeshare is within shortest distance to be reached.

Come and enjoy our beautiful city!
