Photos and Description of the Boonville vacation cabin rental

YELLOW CABIN

Yellow Cabin sleeps three comfortably, and has all the amenities that are needed for a comfortable stay: small but full kitchen, blankets, towels, a queen size bed, a futon couch/bed and chairs, rugs, a pot belly stove, and a full bathroom.

The cabin has no cell phone reception, TV, radio, or Internet connection, but there are unlimited views, privacy, a private lake, and great star gazing at night. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and all the food you need!

OVERVIEW

Wild Mountain Farm, Yorkville, is a beautiful country retreat in the Anderson Valley.

The property has over 100 acres of unspoiled California terrain, several cabins, and a small lake. Away from smoggy freeways, honking cars and city stresses, Wild Mountain Farm offers a level of relaxation that only comes with being off the grid. Surrounded by oak trees and wildlife, the Yellow Cabin is a contrast of cozy interiors, offering the ultimate room with a view.

- Perfect for family vacations, reunions, creative retreats, or couples getaways.

- Dogs are always welcome.

- Come get away off the grid.

WHAT TO DO THERE

Wild Mountain Farm has opportunities for outdoor adventurers, as well as more easygoing options to unwind. The property has its own hiking trails, and lies close to rafting and kayaking on the Russian River and longer hikes in state parks. For the less ambitious, there are quiet reading nooks, well-stocked fireplaces, and outdoor picnic spots with spectacular panoramic views of the Anderson Valley.

NEARBY

Wild Mountain Farm is nestled in a valley with only one highway, above the fray but still close to destinations like the nearby Navarro winery and the Red Tail Brewery. You can indulge in fine dining or casual family restaurants in nearby Boonville and Healdsburg. Bigger towns like scenic Mendocino and Healdsburg offer perfect daytrips, and the rugged Northern California Coast is beautiful at any time of year.

EVENTS IN THE VALLEY

The Anderson Valley is home to a thriving food culture, with the festivals to prove it. The Pinot Noir Wine Festival kicks off in May along with the Boonville Beer Fest. There are cooking lessons for the epicurious at Apple Farm, and the Healdsberg Jazz Festival in June attracts music lovers from all over the world.

About Niki Lopez

I am a native Los Angelino, but my fondness for Northern California is rooted in a family history that enjoyed getting “off the grid” before there even was a grid! My family established a presence in Napa Valley long before Beringer Vineyards was inviting Hollywood stars to visit what is today considered to be one of the top wine regions in the United States. I am a retired landscape architect, but retirement hardly means slowing down for me. It was only natural that my love for NoCal’s beauty and spirit would lure me to Anderson Valley to create Wild Mountain Farm -- nestled high in the mountains, but comfortably appointed, and only a short drive from the Valley’s growing diversity of restaurants, artisan galleries, wineries and festivals.

Why Niki Lopez chose Boonville

Wild Mountain Farm is a perfect off-the-grid retreat in a beautiful natural setting. I can enjoy the many nearby Anderson Valley activities, or take a peaceful nature hike with my dog.

So Peaceful and yet so close to the city

This property is amazing! Only about 100 miles from San Francisco this retreat is a super easy getaway. The expansive valley and hillside views, private hiking trails, beautiful mature oak trees and dramatic sunsets made it so we didn't want to leave. The Yellow Cabin, although small, is equipped with high ceilings, tall french doors, cheerful color palette, efficient pot belly, comfortable seating, and a spacious loft. This was more than adequate for the 2 of us and our 2 dogs. Everyone had a great time exploring the hills, the pond, the meadows, and the Rocks. Niki was very accommodating and so easy to work with.

Great refuge after wine tasting!

We wanted a spot to retreat to after a day of enjoyable wine tasting in the Anderson Valley and this is it.
The Yellow Cabin is 'off the grid' but it is comfortable, clean, modern and attractive. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the hill tops of the valley and the swimming pond. Since it was a hot day, the pond was a welcome addition to our stay. Another plus was that the owner allowed us to bring our little French bulldog, Bella. She is well behaved and clean as a whistle but all too many establishments prohibit pups, which is a deal breaker for us.
The dirt road up to the property was no problem for our Toyota Highlander and the road is so well cared for, I don't imagine it would be a problem for most vehicles in the dry season. We'll be going back in the Spring, when the road is wet, so perhaps the 4 wheel drive will be useful on the steeper parts.
Overall this is a terrific find. The kitchen was fine and the refrigerator spacious. There was no cell phone service, internet connection or 'entertainment' center other than a small ipod dock. Music, wine, comfort, beauty and good company. What more could I need?
