We bought this home in Nov of 2011 after a year of searching. It did not take much to convince us this was the one. This home nestled in the Nantahala National Forest is a match made in heaven.
This lovely cottage has 2400 sq ft of indoor space and nearly 3000 sq ft of outdoor deck space. It has 2 bedrooms; in each is your own private bathroom. The master bedroom also hosts a gas fireplace and garden tub for those looking for that romantic getaway. Downstairs is a 1/2 bath off from the kitchen. The down stairs sofa converts into a queen sleeper for extra guests or children. This cottage has real hand hewed beams and knotty pine floors throughout. There are antique stained glass windows in several areas of the home. The décor in this unique home is that of a country cottage with rustic old world charm. It is not your typical 'vacation rental' in the mountains. You will not find Bear décor here. This home includes an office area with free WI-FI and free domestic long distance calling (no international calling). There is also a library with a large book selection, and a sunroom with 5 sliding glass doors which you can open on those beautiful sunny days.
If you want to spend time outdoors, the options are endless. You can take a dip in the in-ground salt water pool, soak in the 6 person Jacuzzi, relax by the outdoor fireplace, cook lunch on the gas grill, or take a much needed nap in the oversized hammock. We even keep a jar in the kitchen so you can catch fireflies with your children. We want your stay to be fun, relaxing, and most of all memorable.
Note: We only rent this home for 8 months out of the year so please book your vacation as soon as possible, as reservations fill quickly. We offer 4 months with access to the pool and 4 months without the pool at a cheaper rate.

My husband and I live in Summerville, SC (15 minutes north of Charleston, SC). We both work full time and have 2 wonderful kids. Dylan is 19 and Katelyn is 13. I work as a Office Administrator and my husband is a Maintenance Reliability Planner. We live a short drive from the beach but prefer the peace and comfort of the mountains.
We vacationed so much in the mountains; we decided to buy our own place. We stumbled on this place in Nov 2011. It was not in the best condition when we found it but we knew it had a lot of potential. We’ve put a lot of sweat and tears into fixing up this place from what it once was, but it has been well worth it. We've overhauled the pool, replaced the jacuzzi, replaced the roof, painted inside, redecorated, etc, etc.... Each improvement made this place a little more like a slice of Heaven.
We are so happy to be able to share this special place that our friends call “magical”. We welcome you and your family to our home. We hope you’ll make many happy memories and our home your vacation tradition.
There are so many unique things about this place. Yes, the pool and hot tub are new and very nice but there is so much more to this place. It is nestled in the mountains and trees and once there, you forget about the rest of the world. Almost all the windows are stained glass and are very old. The floors are knotty pine and the ceiling features authentic hand hewn beams. There are many cozy spots inside and out of this home. It's decorated with many antique items that will take you back in time. It's only a few minutes to the local grocery store and other attractions.
