THE SPENCER STREAMSIDE CABIN IN GARDEN VALLEY

Garden Valley House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Perched on a bluff overlooking a stream and verdant meadow that's also home to beaver, elk, deer, and native trout, this wonderful two-story vacation rental cabin (about 1.5 hours north of Boise) has stunning vistas all around! Loaded with amenities like a wood fireplace and WiFi, you can luxuriate in the hot tub or rock on the six-person glider on the deck as you savor the sights and sounds of gorgeous Grand Valley.

A wood stove, much like one old Billy Crouch might have used, is the centerpiece of this charming vacation rental cabin's cozy living room. In winter, throw a log on the fire, sink into the plush chairs and sip some coffee or hot chocolate as you chat, or watch the cable TV or a movie on the DVD player. Or, check the local attractions on the laptop with the free Wi-Fi. A vaulted ceiling and plenty of windows give you ample space with great views of the landscape outside. In summer, venture out over 200 feet of private access to the stream nearby. Streamside also has a space on its nearly two acres for volleyball and outdoor fireplace and fire pit, so bring some napkins for those s'mores and toasted marshmallows.

The master bedroom of Streamside is in the loft and comes with a queen bed and a postcard view of the meadow outside. There's also a full futon in the loft. Another bedroom downstairs has a double bed. This cabin has two full bathrooms and plenty of hot water.

Little Crouch, just a few minutes away, is actually a popular stopping off point on the Boise/Lowman/Banks loop - a favorite daytrip by car - where motorists can grab a bite to eat on their way back to Boise. There are four eateries in Crouch where you'll find good but not exotic food. So, if you're cooking in the cabin, should be no problem. Streamside has a big, modern kitchen with plenty of cabinet and counter space, a microwave for quick snacks, and a well-stocked spice rack.

When you stay in this rustic but comfortable vacation rental cabin, you're just minutes from the Middle Fork of the Payette River, so you can expect excellent fly-fishing for native bull trout, cutthroat, browns, and bulls. There are river runs for kayaking, rafting, and just plain tubing in rapids that go all the way to Class 5. The entrance to Boise National Forest is close by where, of course, you can hike, hunt (in season) and bike. Hikers, you'll be close to 12 trail heads. Snowlovers: Garden Valley offers 250 miles of groomed snowmobile, snowshoe and x-country ski trails for a total of 250 miles of trail. Soak in geothermal hot springs or experience the newest tubing hill in Idaho. Lots of parking for snowmobiles and trailers and pets are welcome.

By the time the government named the post office after local miner and homesteader William "Billy" Crouch in 1934, this beautiful area had already played host to trappers, miners, loggers, and a legion of Roosevelt's conservation workers. Only their spirit remains. What's left, however, is the same pristine beauty that has always characterized this region and is waiting to astound you and keep you coming back!

GREAT GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
We rented this cabin with 2 other couples with the idea that there would be enough places to sleep for everyone, and there sure was. This cabin was right on the money and the property itself was perfect. Great hot tub and wonderful information right on the table as you walked in. More than enough blankets and pillows and great location in the valley. If you are up here you must hit Silver Creek Plunge, it's an amazing natural hot springs pool. Many thanks go out to the owner/managers of this property for making our stay perfect . . . . without any communication or face to face . . . . they did an amazing job!! We will be renting this cabin again in the future

MOM AND DAD GET A BREAK FROM THE KIDS!

  • 4 of 5
Our stay started badly with a frigid house and no firewood to be found. It was eventually resolved after a heated conversation with Vacasa and my husband insisting that waiting for over an hour for the thermostat to go up from 55 to 59 wasn't acceptable. We would have loved to start a fire, but I guess early November was to early for firewood at this house.
The issue was resolved by the local property manager as quickly as she could buy firewood, round up her husband to look at the furnace, and get to us. All in all, a few hours. After we got the house warm, we started to enjoy our getaway.
The house itself is rustic. We found it clean and it had everything we needed, even shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The towels were plush.
The subdivision was fairly remote. You could see about 8-10 houses from the front windows of the house. The back deck was wonderful. You look out onto a big field and nice stream (no houses in sight!). You could hear the stream very well from the back deck. We went on a walk one afternoon for about an hour- just down the road- and enjoyed the scenery. The further down the road you get, the more remote. We even saw a white tail deer at one point.
The DirecTV is basic, so no food network :( . The beds are ok. I found them hard and not very comfortable. But I am used to a pillow top. If we were to stay again I would bring a light foam mattress topper with me. (If the owner were to buy a memory foam mattress topper from Costco, it would remedy this problem for both beds)
The stairs are really steep and tall, so I would never bring my younger (toddler aged) kids here. I'd be to afraid of them diving off the top. There is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom if you don't want to deal with the stairs.
The TV upstairs has no cable, and is an older (non flat screen) model. You could probably play movies on it if you had the right cables.
The internet is dsl and decently fast. We found it handy when I was trying to teach my husband backgammon and forgot the rules.
By the end of our stay we had achieved our goal of total relaxation without the kids!

I'm glad we were able to resolve the heating issue and provide you with firewood as fast as we could. Most importantly we are pleased that after the initial troubles you were able to relax and enjoy your stay. Thank you for your honest and detailed review. We appreciate it.

GREAT SPOT!

  • 5 of 5
We loved this cabin!! Some of the features are older, but some have been recently updated. It's a great mountain cabin. We loved the hot tub and the fire pit. The six of us were very comfortable and had a great time! We it had a small problem with the hot tub, but I was really impressed with how quickly and thoroughly it was addressed. I expect that from a rental in the city - I didn't expect that in a more wilderness setting! The repair person was very kind and polite, even patiently let our seven year old think she was 'helping.'
It was great to have two full bathrooms, and the kitchen and linens was very well stocked! The washer and dryer were a nice bonus.
My personal favorite was the outdoor space. The deck was a great spot to watch for wildlife and just relax!

BEWARE1

  • 1 of 5
I wish I had rented directly with VRBO but instead this property makes you go through Vacasa I walked into the property and was embarrassed!!! I am 62 years old and took my friend for a special 64th birthday to this cabin. First impression carpet was fifthy!!! Refrigerator was dirty, empty beer cans thrown off deck no one bothered to pick up as well as trash. Now the hot tub---Jets work for maybe 15 sec at a time and when we turned on hot tub light and the jets did their thing the floating dead skin and what ever else was in there we got out fast!!!Hopefully we don't catch anything....

Positive: view was great, kitchen well equipped, bathrooms were clean.

Will never rent from vacasa again not even I am sorry or anything!!!!!!! VRBO has always made things right

Owner's Response: I apologize for your visit- there is a phone number at the cabin you can always call with any issues for immediate resolution. I have investigated the fridge and the trash down the steep hill to the creek and we have resolved the issues that caused this oversight. White carpet was a poor choice for a rustic cabin and though it has been cleaned, the stains kept popping up. The owners are now replacing the carpet and the hot tub and it will be complete by May 2013. Thank you.

GREAT FEBRUARY GET AWAY!

  • 5 of 5
It snowed the night we arrived and it was absolutely gorgeous the next day! We enjoyed the hot tub, the barbeque, the sound of the creek, the full moon, the herd of elk that settled across the road, and the fact that we could bring our two fidos (they loved it too!). We loved every minute. Thank you.

JANUARY 2013

  • 4 of 5
I booked this cabin for myself and friends to spend the weekend and celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed the view except had hoped to see at least one animal from our deck and didn't see anything except birds. It had a homey feel and we were comfortable. There were 4 of us and we fit comfortably.
The only problems were the drive was not plowed which turned out was not really a problem once we figured out where the drive was and drove through the snow. The other was the microwave didn't work and the tv being old we had trouble figuring out how to watch the dvd's we had brought. Both of those problems were fixed quickly by the caretakers. They did a wonderful job and were quick as well. Being in our 50's and 60's we did find the stairs a bit difficult as the steps are high. But even that just gave us a laugh and made us slow down. Great time had by all. Thanks!
