La Palma Vacation Rental house: Puntagorda

Simple but pleasantly presented and well kept house it proved an ideal base to explore the west of the island and is well situated to provide access to both the north and the south of the national park within an hours drive. The garden was a great place to just sit back and relax.

Great local market in Puntagorda on Saturday and Sunday, unfortunately arrived on a monday so weren't able to take as much advantage of it as we'd like. There also seems to be a good selection of restaurants nearby but we only went to a couple. La Muralle (?) on the road to Tijarafe, a restaurant built overhanging a cliff with amazing views especially at sunset, great food at great prices. And La Bernegal (?) in La Garafia. Only open until 18.00 this little gem is a perfect lunch/early dinner stop to recharge those batteries after walking up and down those mountains.

The owner was pleasant and offered us advice on the local area, even brought round some games and dvd's one day while we were out. Not to sure about the internet access but we didn't ask, nice not to worry about such things really.
Only downsides were a lot of flies, some good old fashioned fly paper might be a good idea and the fairly long distance from the airport.

All in all though a fantastic stay and would thouroughly recommend this place.
