Luxurious 2 bed/2 bath apartment in private-gated complex in Central London

This is a private and secured Newly built Apartment complex in central London on the 1st Floor in a private gated complex with car parking and is furnished to a luxurious standard with full bedding for either a short weekend Break, a week-long stay, or on an ongoing monthly basis. The Apartment comfortably sleeps 4 Adults. The Property benefits include: Ensuite double bedroom with power shower, a second bedroom with connecting door to the main bathroom with a bath and shower. The flat is fitted with most modern amenities including a Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Central heating and electronically secure entry system . The lounge has a Juliette Balcony with a dining area and Breakfast table. The Apartment is a short 10 mins walk to the Exquisite Green Space of Victoria Park with its deer park and lake. The Apartment is 5 mins walk from 24hr Supermarket and is 5-8 minutes walk from the closest underground Station.

DIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORTS: From Heathrow Airport:

Take Heathrow Express to Paddington National Rail Station. Walk to Lancastergate Underground Station (just by Hyde Park - takes 3-5 minute walk) and take the central line (red line) and Change at Mile-End Station (takes 15 - 20 minutes) onto the District Line Eastbound and get-off at Bow Road Station (1 stop ). Alternatively, take the Underground Service from Heathrow (Picadilly (Blue) Line) and Change at Holborn Underground Station for the Central (Red) Line and Change at Mile-End Station (takes 7 - 10 minutes) onto the District Line Eastbound and get-off at Bow Road Station (1 stop ). The apartment is a 5 minute walk from the underground station.

From City Airport

Go to London City Airport DLR Station and take the Docklands Light Railway towards towards Stratford. Get off at Bow Church Station (10 tube stops - about 15 mins) . The apartment is a 5 minute walk from the underground station.

DIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORTS Cont..: From Stansted Airport

Take the Stanstead Express Rail Train to London Liverpool Street. This should take approximately 55 minutes. At Liverpool Street Station, Change to the Central (Red) Line Underground Station heading Eastbound and Change at Mile-End Station (2 stops - 3-5 minutes) onto the District Line Eastbound and get-off at Bow Road Station (1 stop - 2 mins). The apartment is a 5 minute walk from the underground station.

From Gatwick Airport

Take the Gatwick Express Rail Train to London Victoria (Takes about 30 minutes). Change at London Victoria to the Underground Station and get on the Victoria Line (Blue Line) North Bound and change at Oxford Street Underground Station for the Central Line (Red Line) East Bound. It should take about 10 - 15 minutes ( about 9 Station Stops) to get to Mile-End Station. Not a place to recommend

We are very seasoned travelers and for the last 10 years have been traveling to the U.K. and other parts of Europe. All of our stays have been self-catering. Menai Place is good from a security standpoint, and the exterior of the apt complex was well-maintained; however, it is not a rental that we would revisit or recommend for several reasons:

1- You cannot see or receive the contract until you have paid the high non-refundable deposit.
2-The sample contract sent during the rental process is different from the actual one that you must sign at check-in.
3-The contract is a standard contract for a long-term rental which requires tenant liability for all utilities which is not applicable in a short-term situation.
4-The website mentions a very high optional cleaning fee. In the contract which is to be signed in the presence of the owner at check-in, the tenant is required to have the apt. professionally cleaned on departure or the cleaning fee will be imposed. While the owner said he allows the tenant to clean the apt. himself, this is clearly a different and unexpected requirement than “optional”. The owner also states at the time of contract signing that the tenant is responsible for laundering all bath and bed linens on departure which is another unexpected requirement for the tenant at check-in.
5-Hefty fee for use of the internet beyond an amount immeasurable while in the apt.
6-Not enough glasses, plates, etc. We purchased 6 glasses for the kitchen.
7-Mold in the master bath room shower and kitchen counter. See pictures 1 and 3.
8-White upholstered furniture much in need of cleaning.
9-A requirement that the owner photograph the tenant’s passport, “the Anti-Terrorism Law”, according to the owner. We have not encountered this elsewhere in the UK and do not know where this photo ended up.

One of the odd requirements which is not stated anywhere in the contract or on the site is that before you take possession, owner takes videos of the entire apt., saying that it will be compared to another video upon departure.

Pillows and duvets were a disposable, lumpy, heavily-used type. When removing duvet covers for laundering on departure, multiple slashes in the duvet linings were revealed. See picture 2. Only one worn towel per person and no additional hand towels. Toilet paper not provided. In the bedrooms there were no side tables so you put everything on the floor.

This is just a summary and we recommend others to be aware.

Owner's Response: We are totally shocked at this extremely false review and the the abuse of the review process that is meant to help guests select apartments. The simple points below highlights this:

a) You cannot book or pay for our apartment without first fully reading and fully accepting the contract after which you then make a payment as payment is via HomeAway itself.
b) All terms including internet access, cleaning options and all avoidable costs are all detailed on the website prior to making an enquiry let alone proceeding to making a payment of any sorts. The apartment is always photographically recorded with guests so that baseless accusations can be easily refuted WHICH IN THIS INSTANCE IT IS .
c) It is illegal in the UK to change contract terms from the one initially agreed.

It is a shame that someone will abuse the review system for their own personal agenda whilst making extremely false accusations contrary to the true reality which the simple irrefutable points above clearly shows.

Good property located in London.

The property was located in a nice area with a short walk to the underground station. Babs was very helpful and very nice. The location was safe and secure. The only issue was that the internet usage went very quickly. If you are from the states please be careful of your internet usage. The washer and dryer took some working and you can't put large loads in. If I can I will get another place with Babs. There is a gas station located across from the tube station which you can find all the food and toiletries that you need. We had a great time staying there. Book with Babs, all communication is done via email. Enjoy.

Great Property, Great Guest.

Great Property. Has a very good location, not in the center of London but only a few minutes walk to the tube. 15-20 mins into central London. Also very close to Olympic park and stratford. Great area. Babs is a great owner, explained everything in advance so there were no shocks when we arrived. Apartment is very good. I would come back whenever i am in London next.

Very convenient for seeing London

We stayed here for 5 nights with our 7 year old son. It is a wonderful apartment which is equipped with all you could possibly need for your stay. The apartment is very clean and the kitchen fabulous for anyone wanting to cater for themselves. If you dont want to self cater then the apartment is ideally located to explore the numerous cafes and restaurants. For tourists it is very easy to get to the Olympic park and the shopping, Greenwich and the park there or to get the tubes into central London or to Docklands. Babs make the booking and checking in process very easy and offer helpful tips re shopping, dining etc. We would definitely stay there again if visiting London.

It was called Bow, because the bridge was arched like unto a bow, a rare piece of work, for before that time the like had never been seen in England.' Bow is now primarily residential area for the City Professional and boast an amazing Park (Victoria Park) with has its own lake and Deer park in the center. Bow also has an amazing network of water-way canals with interesting pubs and walk-ways. Bow is famous for its historic Bow Bells of London immortalized in legendary English Poems of olde.
