RUSTIC HOUSE

The Rustic House in Vila Franca (VF) was the perfect place to stay while in Vila Franca. All around, we were extremely happy with this place. The house is located high on the hill in VF, overlooking the wonderful small city of VF, the Ilheu, and the atlantic ocean. The house has a a large wrap-around balcony for you to take in the views. We ate breakfast on the balcony each day, also perfect place for a cold glass of vinho verde. The house was clean and large. We have a total of 4 people is at times, it felt too big, but we are not complaining. The owners were very sweet people. You can tell that they wanted us to enjoy all there is to offer in VF and their house. They stocked the refrigerator with goodies (cheese, juice, etc.) that helped us for the first few days. There is a supermarket in town where we were able to buy more food. The owners were very helpful in evaluating local restaurants. The grounds of the house were beautiful. The small garden, variety of flowers, cool stone-work, all make for a enjoyable walk around the property. There were only a few neighbors who lived by the house. We never saw them. It is extremely quiet up at the house. The house is a short ride into the center of VF. VF is a perfect place to stay because of its central location. We were able to visit all parts of the island while staying in VF. Restaurant Atlantico was great! The local wreck fish was superb. We also recommend Garajao in Ribeira Quente. A must see! IN VF, you must go to the place where they make the queijada's do vila franca. The Morgado Family has a bakery in town where they bake fresh queijada's each day. The local beach in VF was perfect for swimming and relaxing. I would highly recommend this property to friend or family. We think we stayed in the one of the best houses in portugal. We are so hapy with our trip. Thanks again for all the memories!
