This four star rated cottage is located next to the lake in the grounds of Ballycurrin House and Estate. The cottage has unparalled views of the lake and is furnished and equipped to the highest of standards. Sleeping six, all rooms are en suite with a large living area and seperate kitchen overlooking the lake. There are two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom with room for an additional bed if required.
My husband and I recently spent the most wonderful few days at the Lakeside Cottage and would highly recommend a stay here to anyone. On arrival, we were met by John who was so warm and very informative. We were even presented with a basket of fresh home-made scones to welcome us!
The Cottage is situated in the most idyllic of settings with the stunning Lough Corrib to the back of the house and a mysterious crumbling castle ruins to the front. Although it is an ideal base for touring Connemara (Cong, The Quiet Man Bridge, Ashford Castle etc.), we were really quite reluctant to leave the tranquility of the cottage each morning, preferring to linger on our private patio with its breathtaking views.
The cottage itself really is a home from home with every convenience imaginable available (My husband and I would even go so far as to say that the house was better equipped than our own!!). The three bedrooms and the living areas are so spacious, that you could very comfortably fit a family without that usual boxed-in feeling that you often get from holiday rentals.
The gardens are sprawling and just beautiful, with many mature native Irish trees, a secluded and safe spot to let the younger family members roam free.
Our advice to anyone visiting Connemara ..... go check out Ballycurrin Estate, you definitely won't regret it!
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and it couldn't have been more perfect. It was a charming house situated right on the lake with beautiful views and a cozy atmosphere. We were welcomed exceptionally warmly, and felt right at home. The house provided a fantastic base for both relaxing and exploring the area. I would certainly recommend this picturesque, lovely cottage for rental.
