|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
A modern west coast farm by the sea - 1000 sq. ft. self contained suite - separate from main house, lots of parking. 2 bdrm (1 queen, 2 singles), new beds, all bedding supplied. Open self contained kitchen, living and dining room (with hdtv, dvd player, small stereo to hook in an iPhone or similar), full bathroom with towels. Large outdoor deck with patio table/chairs, 2 loungers and a brand new bbq and view of ocean and surrounding forest. There are several varieties of native trees - garry oak and arbutus to name just 2. Listen to the owls, ravens and the many song birds. Cozy up and read a book, go for a walk or bike the galloping goose trail (an old railway line that goes 60 km, from Victoria out to Leechtown - we are right on the trail at km. 28), take a trip to the beach or any near by parks or lakes. Do a day trip into Victoria, only a 30 minute drive. We always have chickens, and for 6 months of the year we have pigs, come and help us feed them.....2 day minimum booking, but 5-7 day bookings are recommended, as there is enough to do, in the area and surrounding. Summer is a beautiful time to come - it's usually warm and dry, but, September and October are beautiful as well - the leaves are changing colour, the smell in the air is different, there are lots of harvest foods available too. November to March are great times to cozy up by the wood stove (we do have electric heating as well). Check the calendar for availability or email directly. At the moment we also have 2 adult bikes for rent $30/bike for entire stay (helmet and lock included)
My husband and I both grew up in Vancouver. We spent 11 years in Hong Kong, both our children were born there and went travelling with us as much as we could all possibly go exploring. We were ready for a new chapter, and wanted to come back to Beautiful British Columbia - we settled in Metchosin, on Vancouver Island. Having travelled to several different places, we feel that Metchosin is one of those special places on this earth.
Brie Sievert purchased this cottage in 2006
A prerequisite for my husband was that we had a minimum of 2 acres, this narrowed down our choices, but worked for me because I love animals and gardening. We were lucky enough to stumble across this little town, we'd never heard of and loved the fact that we were so close to Victoria, in case we needed a 'city fix' yet away from it all! We also liked the fact the we were right on the galloping goose trail and had no excuse not to go out walking at any time of day, and without having to get in the car to do it. It's come a long way since we bought the land, built the carriage house, put in the garden, built accessory buildings for animals and our main house and a few more gardens, of which the deer sample on regularly! It will keep us busy for years to come - but don't worry, we won't put you to work........
A big plus is that we are just steps from the galloping goose trail, which is wide and mostly flat. The other is the view from most of the windows and deck of the suite - the ultimate moving painting - who needs t.v?, although there is television a dvd player and wifi :-)

Windslope Farms is where we stayed for our honeymoon. It was the perfect place to find peace and tranquility! It is on a beautifully kept hobby farm with a beautiful view of the forest and ocean in the distance. Our accomodation far exceeded our expectation. We were so happy we chose Windslope Farms. The host, Brie, was so accomodating providing us with fresh farm eggs, freshly made apple juice and soap also made on the farm. She provided us with recommendations to restaurants, even making reservations on our behalf and providing maps and instructions. Would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone looking to get away from it all. Close proximity to Sooke & Victoria.

I'm very flattered that you chose to stay at Wildslope for your honeymoon and very glad that you found the peace and tranquility you were looking for. Thank you for taking the time to write. I hope we'll see you here again!
Westcost beaches and lakes are all close by, walking distance and short drives away. Matheson Lake is a favourite of ours, it's only 3.5 km. down the galloping goose trail (which is an old railway line, converted to a 60 km trail, used for walking, biking, horseback riding), you can also drive (10 min.). We have rare trees that grow in the area - Garry Oaks and Arbutus (these trees have orange trunks and shed their bark) The wildlife is abundant with deer, bunnies, quail, owls and green violet swallows. There are 2 close weekend markets - Ragley Farm (East Sooke) and Metchosin Sunday Market. MyChosen Cafe is our local restaurant - has great food and pizza delivery too. The stinking fish studio tour is held the beginning of August and will happen again in November. Not a very far drive away (Goldstream Park) you can see the salmon spawning in October and all the eagles that are there as well. Watch Turkey Vultures migrating south, from Aylard Farm - East Sooke. A nature enthusiast paradise. You can be as active as you'd like, or sit back and do nothing, just look at the view. Victoria is not a far drive away to go for a day, even an afternoon or dinner, but if you were looking at spending several days in Victoria, you may find us just a bit far out, but we are in a great location for day trips or just relaxing and taking in the beauty of the west coast.
