EXCLUSIVE SECLUDED VILLA ABOVE AVLAKI BAY. FABULOUS VIEWS, POOL, AIR-CON, WI-FI

Agios Stefanos Villa Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps 8+2, 4 en-suite bedrooms, spacious, contemporary accomodation, air con

Nestled in mature olive groves above Avlaki Bay, with breath-taking views over the headlands of northeast Corfu, Villa Aurora provides an ideal setting for the perfect family holiday. Relax in privacy on the terrace or by the pool and gaze across the olive groves at the flickering sea, the lighthouse on the islet of Kaparelli and the mountains of Albania beyond. Set in an acre of grounds, with mature gardens, Aurora offers seclusion yet all essential holiday amenities are close by. The unspoiled beach of Avlaki, with its two excellent tavernas, is within walking distance whilst the fashionable restaurants of Agios Stefanos and the lively resort of Kassiopi are 5-10 minutes’ drive. In its fifth year of rental, Aurora is contemporary furnished and provides spacious, well-appointed accommodation, ideal for two families holidaying together. The swimming pool (10 x 5m, depth 1.0 - 1.9m) is surrounded by a large patio. Dinghy sailing, windsurfing and boat hire are available on Avlaki beach.

Coast/beach: The road that leads to Aurora continues as a unmade track through the olive groves to Avlaki bay. The white pebble beach and crystal clear water are exhilarating. Sun beds and umbrellas are available and the two excellent beachfront tavernas, will keep you replete throughout the day. Hiring a motor boat is a fun way to explore the idyllic coves that are the signature of Northeast Corfu’s beauty. The North coast (ten minutes’ drive) has many slowly shelving sandy beaches, ideal for children.

Local activities: Greek Sailing Holidays, established in Corfu in 1995, offers dinghy sailing and windsurfing hire and tuition in the warm Mediterranean holiday environment of Avlaki. The light winds in the mornings are ideal for sailing instruction. Fresher conditions prevail in the afternoon enabling novices to practice their newly acquired skills and opportunities for more experienced sailors.

Corfu Divers is a PADI registered dive centre in Kassiopi offering the complete set of PADI dive qualifications starting with Discover Scuba all the way to Dive Master. In addition, guided snorkelling tours are organised daily off one of the three reefs of Kassiopi.

Dimitris horse riding (just inland from Avlaki beach) offers a variety of horse riding tours, for children and adults from beginners to experienced riders, within the beautiful Erimitis peninsular. The school has been created with rescued horses and each has its own story.

The recently refurbished Hydropolis water park is situated on the north coast of the island, attached to Gelina Village & Resort, just before the village of Acharavi, about 20 minutes’ drive. The larger Aqualand water theme park, at Agios Ioannis in the centre of Corfu, is approximately one-hour’s drive and is great fun for all the family.

Eating out: The highlight of any Greek holiday has to be sitting by the water’s edge on a warm summer evening, savouring freshly prepared local produce, as the moon reflects on the waves breaking gently on the shore. Conveniently, Villa Auroa is located close to some of the best restaurants and tavernas in North East Corfu. Just below the villa on Avlaki bay are Cavo Barbaro and Avlaki Taverna, both serving meals from freshly cooked local produce. Above the Villa, in Sinies, is Tavernaki that specialises in traditional Corfiot dishes and provides a home delivery service.

The picturesque bay of Agios Stephanos is a short drive (taxi ride), where there is an excellent choice of restaurants, Tavernas and bars, including Eucalyptus Taverna, Kaparelli Taverna run by Costas and Galini Taverna run by Nikos. There are one or two bars, that the teenagers can retreat to, whilst their parents enjoy a local coffee.

The small fishing village of Kassiopi offers an even greater variety of tavernas and bars and one or two nightclubs. Amongst the best in the area is Trilogia Restaurant, around the headland with excellent food and magnificent sunsets.

A fun alternative is to travel to Agni by water taxi from Agios Stephanos where there are three famous restaurants: Agni Taverna, Toula’s and Nikolas, each outstanding in different ways.

For those very special celebrations catering arrangements can include the delivery of a freshly prepared supper or the assistance of a local cook to prepare a meal for you. Our house manager would be pleased to discuss your individual requirements.

We started holidaying in Greece when our children were young as we were always assured of a friendly welcome. We had heard so much about the beauty of North East Coast and arrived in Avlaki by chance some 20 years ago. The peaceful, sheltered bay with its crystal clear water obviously left a lasting impression. Having visited, and thoroughly enjoyed many other Greek islands, fait drew us back to Avlaki and we realised the benefit of instant relaxation when returning to somewhere you have visited before. Avlaki has hardly changed in this time, except for the gradual development of privately owned villas in the olive groves above the bay, one of which we are extremely fortunate to own.

SIMPLY THE BEST VILLA... EVER

  • 5 of 5
This is our ninth year of arranging our own self accommodation villa holidays directly with the owners, and we were not disappointed. Villa Aurora is the best we have stayed in, it is the ultimate in luxury. Just read what everybody else has said about it… there not wrong.
The villa is set in beautiful, very secluded gardens with an unspoiled view overlooking the sea and there are no immediate neighbours to worry about. In the distance you can see Albania, which even at night, is a stunning view whilst sitting on the comfy sofas on the terrace with a glass or two of the local wine.
The inside and outside are kept spotlessly clean and the pool is very well maintained.
We made good use of the BBQ a few times, there’s a local butchers in Perithia, together with salad and feta from the local supermarket… nice!
There’s plenty of places to eat and drink in the surrounding area, from the busy Kassiopi, which has plenty of bars and tavernas to choose from, to the more quiet and tranquil Avlaki.
We did go to a few of the beaches, but to be fair, when you’ve got your own very large pool, you don’t need to go to them too often!
The most memorable evening for us, was being picked up by the speed boat taxi service from Agios Stefanos and whisked around the bay on a fifteen minute ride to Taverna Agni, the food is very good and including the boat charge, very reasonably priced. Highly recommended, best to book in advance!
Thanks Charles for letting us stay at you wonderful villa, we will be back.

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS

  • 5 of 5
I chose this villa for a special family holiday and that meant making sure there would be enough space for a family of seven adults. The description, location and photographs on the website were attractive and seemed to fit our requirements. In reality, the villa is stunning inside and out. The photo's don't do it justice. I think I walked around speechless for the first 15 minutes taking in all the features. My family still can't believe we lived in such understated luxury. The furnishings create a homely atmosphere and everyone gets a quality bedroom. Outside, the private pool is wonderful, as are the grounds. We loved the balcony dining area where we spent most evenings. The level of privacy is perfect, and I can't imagine tiring of the open views across the strait to Albania.

The design and layout of the house is superb, and there is so much space we couldn't use it all. My youngest daughter only discovered there was a dining room half way through the week! A maid came to clean three times and the pool was cleaned at least twice. We felt spoiled and none of us wanted to leave. There was everything we could have hoped for and more.

For anyone planning on staying here, a car is essential for getting to the local shops, restaurants and beaches as the villa is situated in a secluded location at the bottom of a steep unmade track.

Avlaki riding school was brilliant and the owner Alison took the girls on a good cross country treck. Another fun and inexpensive way to explore the locality is to hire a quad bike, moped or buggy locally. We also hired a boat from Giannis at Agios Stefanos bay and spent a superb day snorkelling and exploring coves along the coast. Here there are also several seafront restaurants where you can sit at the waters edge with views across the cove. Service was excellent and prices reasonable certainly when compared with UK.
The nearest mini-supermarket is a 5 minute drive away, and has a good deli counter with home made produce, and a bakery round the back.

All in all, a great week made very special by your lovely villa.
We will recommend you and would love the opportunity to return.

Geoff and Angela, St Helens.

BEAUTIFUL VILLA AND LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Villa is in a truly wonderful location on the hills overlooking Avlaki bay. We had a wonderful time taking in the wonderful views from the various balconies around the property. Kids really enjoyed the pool area, and the large pool even allowed for some exercise lengths as well. Inside, the villa is very well kept and the cleaning service is a real bonus, as is the Air Con.
Close by are several Tavernas in Avlaki and San Stefano for easy evenings out and trips to the beach if you want a change of scene. As a family we have stayed in many wonderful villas around the world and this is certainly up amongst the best.

FABULOUS!

  • 5 of 5
We had a fabulous week at Villa Aurora!

The location was great and it was very convenient if you wanted to go to Kassiopi (if you need a 'town') or visit San Stefano and the other picturesque bays nearby - we did hire a car and so it was easy to get around.

The villa was very clean and beautifully presented. It is very well equipped and comfortable, and stayed remarkably cool even when 35 degrees outside. The aircon was useful in the bedrooms in the evening. We loved the outside living and dining space with the cooling ceiling fans, and the fantastic views across to Albania from the verandas and the pool area - the pool was clean and refreshing.

Our favourite day out was to hire a boat (from Giannis in San Stefano). We took a picnic and had a great time wandering up and down the coast, visiting the various coves and bays.

Our favourite restaurant was The White House in Kalami - we went there on three evenings out of seven. That is only about a 15-20 minute drive away.

In summary, our family of five had a great holiday at Villa Aurora. We have absolutely no complaints whatsoever and it was a pleasure to deal with Charles, the owner, and Natuska, who welcomed us in Corfu. We have no hesitation at all in recommending this villa to our friends and family.

VILL AURORA AVALAKI

  • 5 of 5
Had the most fantastic 2 weeks holiday at Villa Aurora. The Villa offered everything and more and we can honestly say we didn't want to leave. It has amazing views and with 10 of us in the villa it offered something for everyone, the owners really have thought of everything. The service from start to finish was brilliant, i can honestly say i dont think we have ever had help and service like it. We have stayed in Corfu 3 times before and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else from now on. Words can't describe how happy we are with our holiday. If you want great service, views, luxury, relaxation, no end of beautiful places to visit then this is the holiday for you. 5 Stars.

WONDERFUL VILLA IN A WONDERFUL PART OF THE ISLAND

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed an absolutely fabulous week at this villa. The property met or exceeded all our expectations. Particularly good was the attention to detail and the small touches which made it deel very homely and welcoming. The villa makes very good use of space, particularly outside, and would be well suited to larger groups than we had with us. Also, it was very clean on arrival and well maintained throughout, plus everyone who visited including the pool man and the cleaners were very friendly and reliable.

We really enjoyed the area - so beautiful, peaceful and friendly. Our favourite beach was Kerasia (Agni was also nice) and there are lovely tavernas at Agios Stefanos (particularly Eucalyptus) and Avlaki. The local restaurant in Sinies (Tavernaki) was excellent for home cooked food and very reasonable. Would recommend Trilogia in Kassiopi for a nice meal and amazing views of the sunset.

If you get the chance visit the abandoned village at Palaio Peritheia, and further afield the monestery at Palaiokastritska (plus the views over the bays up the hill as Lakones) and the ruined fort at Angelokastro. Worth a day trip.

We really did not have time to explore as much as we wanted to, so I hope that we can make a return visit soon!

No complaints re. the owners whose information was spot on, and whose help was much appreciated.

Highly recommended.

We have requested a telephone connection to install wi-fi but changes required to the local network to facilitate this have been delayed, though we remain hopeful for 2013. The comfortable outdoor seating area is ideal for relaxing and discussing the important issues of the day like 'where are we eating tonight'. The extendible dining table comfortably seats 6/10 people, perfect for that freshly prepared lunch or supper. The terrace leads down to a large patio area by the swimming pool (10m x 5m, depth 1.0m - 1.9m). The sun loungers may be shaded from the mid day sun by the olive trees and the large cantilever parasol. A cafe table and chairs provide the ideal spot for breakfast in the morning sun.
