We are both avid skiers who lived out west for many years and missed the mountains when we moved to Toronto. We took a ski holiday to le Massif in the Charlevoix in 2007 and we fell in love with the area for more than the fabulous skiing. We decided then and there that we wanted to build a ski chalet in the area. In July of 2010, we took a sabbatical to build our dream log home on a gorgeous two acre property overlooking the town of Baie St. Paul. I am a school teacher who didn't even know how to hold a hammer before we started! We never cease to be amazed and delighted every time we return here. Much to our delight, every season is spectacular: the brilliant autumn colours, the magical winters, and the delightful summers with all the water activities offered.

Roma Kozlov purchased this chalet in 2010

We chose this property because it's a new development with a lot of privacy and stunning views, yet it's only 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Baie St. Paul. We are part of the city and receive all the services provided.

We took raw land and created a paradise. It was exciting to create our own driveway, see the well being dug, install our own lamp posts, electricity, plumbing, etc. We know every inch of this house and property intimately!

A winter wonderland! Three families ushered out the old year and rang in 2014

This fantastic home is exactly what we wanted and Roma delivered. During record breaking cold weather we were warm and cozy! We filled every bed with friends and family and were never crowded. The 'chefs' cooked away in the spacious kitchen; the teens lounged in the living room; the kids played games both upstairs and down. The stunning views from every window change from minute to minute as the light changes or clouds roll into Baie St-Paul down below. Skiing at Le Massif was thrilling. The indoor sauna was blissful! A memory for our family will be the night toboganning on New Year's Eve! The whole hillside must have heard us laughing our way down the track! Walking through town, in and out of the many different shops and galleries really made us feel as if we had travelled to another country. We were glad to experience such an easy drive from Toronto and Montreal. We found so many hikes and local events listed in Roma's special basket that we will return to experience them all!

Owner's Response: We are always thrilled to see our guests enjoying every aspect of Horizon 77. The private snow play area and toboggan run add to its winter splendour! So glad to hear that the teenagers and younger children each found their own space!

Wonderful place!

This house in Charlevoix is exactly what we hoped for. Away from the city, yet close enough to everything. Incredible views from all of the windows; we particularly enjoyed the bedroom window views in the morning. The place is very comfortable and well equipped -- you can tell this is a place the owners enjoy using. We wish we had a day to just relax in the house and enjoy the wrap around deck.

Conveniently located to explore La Route des Saveurs, we picked up ingredients along the trail and enjoyed cooking tasty meals in the well designed kitchen. We're from California where foie gras has been outlawed, so getting some at La Ferme Basque de Charlevoix was a treat, but be careful, to sear it properly it smokes quite a bit, which can trigger the smoke alarm -- sorry Roma ;-) Volieres is a great place to buy rabbit, guinea fowl, quail and pheasant, and you can meander around the family farm to see the various breeding areas.

Hit nearby La Maison Maurice Dufour for very good sheep's milk cheese and Boulangerie La Rémy for great bread and you have the beginning of a great picnic.

Roma is a pleasure to work with. She remembered our prior conversations and had some of our favorite goodies waiting for us when we arrived.

We would recommend this place to anyone that wants to explore Charlevoix, and have already done so to many of our friends.
Owner's Response: Thanks for all your wonderful recommendations of gourmet shopping! So thrilled that Horizon 77 fulfilled your dreams. Thanks for taking such great care of our home. Please send your friends from California next autumn! The colours in the Charlevoix are spectacular, and there is so much to discover!

This property is kept perfectly. We visited with a total of four couples. The dining area is huge as is the living room. Great place to play board games or cards while making gourmet meals. We found the sleeping wonderfully private with two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. We loved the gigantic wraparound porch with its fabulous views of the St Lawrence and the mountains. The location is situated nicely between Quebec City, national parks and the casino at La Malbaie .We visited them all. The art galleries and shops are everywhere around. We loved our vacation here. Owner's Response: Always wonderful to hear that our concept of four private bedrooms actually works! We put a lot of thought into the plan and every detail. We love our state of the art kitchen and the open concept of the dining and living areas. Glad to hear you explored all the way to la Malbaie. The Charlevoix is a special corner of the earth! Come back!

This immaculate home resort really is a piece of paradise. With the wrap around deck, state of the art kitchen, gorgeous bathrooms and luxury accommodations it's tough to leave the chalet once you arrive, but there is so much to see in Baie St.Paul and the surrounding area! Roma has set up a great folder filled with information on local attractions: one of a kind galleries, world-class restaurants, unique boutiques, and outdoor adventures for any time of the year. I'd like to return soon and I would definitely recommend this chalet!

Surrounded by sea and mountains, Baie-Saint-Paul - the birthplace of Le Cirque du Soleil - has inspired a vast number of artists and artisans with the purity and natural beauty of its landscape. Countless are the art galleries, boutiques and activities for visitors to enjoy, including hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling and golf. Baie-Saint-Paul is a paradise of beauty, hospitality and scenic adventures!

Take a walk along its many narrow streets lined with charming boutiques and art galleries—it’s a great way to discover and fully enjoy one of Québec’s oldest municipalities. Nearby Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, a scenic six-kilometer drive down the mountain to the St. Lawrence River, is another favorite of visitors.

There are many day trips to choose from, including a free ferry ride to Isle-aux-Coudres, 'Island of Hazelnuts', discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1535. Home of the famous Pedneault Apple Cider Orchards, one can tour the small island by bicycle. For the adventursome, the area offers sea kayaking, river kayaking, canyoneering & whale watching excursions. If you love the mountains, the provincial parks, Grands-Jardins and Hautes Gorges offer various hikes at all levels and distances. Our favorite attraction, le Massif Ski Resort, boasts the highest peak in Canada east of the Rockies, and is hosted by Jean-Luc Brassard, the 1994 Olympic Gold Medalist in mogul aerials.

In the heart of this World Biosphere Reserve and natural larder filled to bursting, Charlevoix’s chefs and agricultural producers prepare a cuisine that is renowned far and wide. Some specialties are cheese, emu, and chocolate/raspberry/wild blueberry pie.
