Wonderful holiday in Casa de Esteiró
We spend a wonderful 10 days in one of the 2 bedroom apartments at the Refugio at Casa de Esteiró, in October 2011. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and getting to know José and his household was the best part of the holiday. Every morning we enjoyed our breakfast in the beautiful dining room of the lodge. Over breakfast we chatted with José and discussed our plans for the day to which he always had the most wonderful suggestions about places to visit in the surrounding area. He also told us stories from his life and his extensive travels which we really enjoyed. The apartment is tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and warm, and every consideration is made to ensure the stay is comfortable for guests. The bedrooms are very comfortable with fine views of the garden, the living spaces cosy and well appointed with fireplace, seating and amenities. You can sit outside in the garden or by the pool and enjoy the sunshine or take a short stroll down to the river and the beach which is breathtaking. It is a short walk to the town centre where you will find numerous restaurants and café bars, and anything else you might need such as banks, the post office and the tourist office. Our favourite restaurant was an 800 meter walk from the house on the board walk beside the river just next to the beach. From Cominha its possible to explore this unspoilt region of Northern Portugal with its beautiful historic fortified towns, dipping in and out of Galicia,Spain and visit the wonderful National Park of Penedes Geres.

Owner's Response: It's perhaps worth pointing out that these visitors stayed for almost two weeks in the second half of October, and the weather and facilities were clearly good enough for them to enjoy an excellent "off-season" holiday. In fact, the weather reached 30º on several of those days, which is only a little unusual - October is often a great month for enjoying northern Portugal, at very reasonable prices and without crowds of tourists.
José and his wife, the owners, really do go out of their way to ensure their visitors have the best holiday possible, and will always help them find the best spots to relax in, the most interesting places to visit and explore, those hidden gems that are so hard to discover.
We're delighted these particular visitors enjoyed their accommodation so much - they are holiday villa owners themselves, so they know what they're talking about!
