If sitting in the hot tub with a drink, relaxing and looking out over the river sounds like a great way to have a vacation, you are home! Relax and enjoy yourself at our Cedar Bend Cabin with our 6 person brand new hot tub! You will never want to leave! Steps away from the river, whether you like to ski, fish, bird watch, canoe, or just relax, you will find it here! If you enjoy having peace and quiet and relaxing by the river, but with all the amenities... you will love our cabin!!
My husband and I stayed at this wonderful little cabin for our week-long honeymoon June 22-30, 2013, and loved it so much that we're back more than a year and a half later looking longingly at the website (and finally writing our review!). This cabin was a welcome retreat from the bustle of our daily lives (we brought our groceries with us, thankfully, as the nearest stores were a bit of a drive away, although there is a gas station within 5-10 minutes by car with the basics). We loved leaving our phones in our bags, sleeping late in the fabulously comfortable queen bed, watching endless movies on the many free movie channels available on the TV in the living room - nice touch, thank you!!, and spending what time we could outside - although we had rather chilly weather for June, and the river was much too high to access the dock or even fully descend the stairs for the first half of our stay, we didn't much mind because we were so relaxed! The hot tub was also initially out-of-service, but the owner made sure that this was remedied ASAP, which we appreciated, and we did get to enjoy the hot tub for several days/nights. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the essentials (pots & pans, knives, cutting boards, etc.) for preparing our meals, and the interior and exterior of the property were clean and well-maintained, very inviting! The only potential downside was the proximity of the few neighbors on the same stretch and side of the river, but thankfully all neighboring houses were vacant for the majority of the time - we had the area mostly to ourselves, and it sounds as though they've added a fence on the side of the hot tub shared by next-door neighbors for added privacy! We drove in from 6 hours away, and it was entirely worth the trip. Would highly recommend to anyone in search of a quiet, largely-secluded getaway retreat!! Thank you for giving us a wonderful honeymoon, we hope to return someday! PS the surrounding area can be difficult to navigate - would highly recommend a close-up map of the area or a GPS (you may not get signal everywhere!) for your drives to and from the cabin.
My boyfriend and I generally find a little getaway between Christmas and New years. This year we stayed at this wonderful Cabin. We had a great time and felt well relaxed. I was a bit anxious to try VRBO but my first try turned out beautifully. The host provided clear guidance and a wonderful place for memories. Unfortunately for us the temperatures were far colder than we expected but despite that, we still used the hottub and outdoor fire. Kitchen has everything you need. The bed is as amazing as the view. I would encourage folks to bring groceries that they want to use becuase the town is very small so the nearest real grocery store is about 10 miles away. There are a few local convenient marts that sell basic food too. We are hoping to come back again when we can do some fishing and outdoor activities.
My husband and I spent another wonderful long weekend at this cabin!
We loved the view and how clean it was. Last time we were there it was cover with snow this time we got to see the nice fire pit. We sat in the very clean hot tub with a fire in the fire pit! Talk about a dream come true!!!!! The river was frozen over and the views of the sun set were great. Now for the best part!!!! Drew put in a big tall fence on two sides of the hot tub. We had a nice wind break and it felt very private! Thank you so much for adding that! And the neighbors are so nice on both sides. As always the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Thank you both for keeping a wonderful place for us to stay!
We had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving and my milestone birthday. The location was perfect for a getaway but not too far from amenities. We even went into Mason City on night to the fantastic 1910 Grille in The Historic Park Inn and visited the Music Man Museum and Meredith Wilson childhood home.
The hot tub was great even in outside temps of 7 degrees on Thanksgiving night. We planned on using the fire pit, which is perfectly located near the hot tub and deck, but never managed to do it.
We would highly recommend this property. Our only problem was a cold draft coming in through the in-wall air-conditioner. That was easily remedied with some foil and duck tape.
We would enjoy returning during the summer or fall. The cabin sits above the Cedar River and has great views!
We completely enjoyed our stay. It was a quiet peaceful cabin, we had lots of fun in our first canoe experience. We had separated for our honeymoon and I have to say it was worth every penny! Hope to go back again soon.
The hot tub and fire pit were wonderful. Very comfortable inside, clean and nicely kept. The home is very well maintained. Note that the blinds in the bedroom don't block any sunlight, so it gets you up early. It's not very secluded. You can see and hear the interstate since it's right across the river and there are rentals/homes right next door. There are lights all around outside. If you're looking for more seclusion and a quieter location, just a note. Other than that it is a nice place.
