An excellent place, full of character, to enjoy the best Greece offers: sea and countryside + Acropolis and Athens city center, all from a most convenient base.
It is located in a place looking like a far Aegean island, feeling like you are away from it all. You can't believe this place is only 50 km from down town Athens!
Acropolis, a World Class monument, its famous new museum, all major archaeological sites, the picturesque old Plaka and the modern city are at a little more than an hours reach, along with numerous cultural and recreational possibilities.
Schinias in Marathon where villa is located, is a top rated beach of Athens, boasting more than 6 km of sandy beach, with crystal clear and mostly calm waters, and a rare cone forest reaching to the water edge!
The Villa itself, is a rare example of traditional architecture, built with stones from its own land, in an inspired 'castle like' design.
The intended abudant use of natural and low treated materials, like stone, wood and iron, create a feeling of immediacy, comfort and inner relaxation in a way that few places can do.
It is tastefully decorated in a country but luxurious manner, with antiques, hand crafted wooden and iron furniture, that invite you to unwind in casualness comfort and style.
The house is built in the gated settlement of Judges & Attorneys.
It is positioned on the cliffs, 50 meters above the sea, providing privacy, and great views to the picturesque bay underneath and the Aegean sea.
Schinias, belongs to the municipality of Marathon, where the famous ancient battle took place and where the world renowned Marathon run originates.
With an inherent affection to Architecture, tradition and aesthetics, owners were set to make their dream vacation villa.
Michael purchased this villa in 1996
One of the joys of travelling abroad is to experience different places and feel the local culture.
Architecture and tradition are important cultural parts of a country's culture, especially for travellers. So, having the opportunity to stay in a Villa which is a rare example of the vanishing local architectural forms, building materials, and inspired design, is an important advantage for many travellers. Universal and plain identity buidings, that you can be in any place in the world will add litlle to your Greek experience.
The Villa is located in a quite settlement, overlooking the sea and next to a 'top rated' sandy beach of 6km long with a rare cone forest in it's back reaching the water edge.
Yoy nave the option to enjoy the sea and nature as you wish as there are busy or isolated spots to choose from.
Small villages or bigger cities and a lot of archaelogical interest places are within easy reach for you to visit and spend your holidays interestingly.
Besides, the city centre of Athens, is within an hours reach.
Thank you so much for a beautiful experience in your amazing stone villa.
Our families from Australia loved the location, the views were amazing and it was perfect for our wedding preparations. We had some unforgettable memories with our friends and families.
We will be seeing you again some time in the near future.
We will post some photos of our wedding on your facebook page.
Thank you again
Stone Castle Villa was a vacation of itself! Away from the congestion, noise, and dirt of the city, this amazing villa provided the quiet recovery to our daily journeys to Athens. The Owner, Michael was a great friend in see to our arrivals and the details of our stay. His hospitality was most gracious. The villa was in perfect condition with all of the elements for fixing a fine dinner with proper spirit glasses, dishes, and cooking pots and pans. An elevator from the street level parking makes things very comfortable. Security 5-stars. Will choose to stay here and recommend to others. Bill, Seattle, Washington
We spent a week here with our three kids and loved every minute of it. Driving into central Athens was surprisingly easy. It was so nice to come back to this place after spending the day in Athens. It feels very remote and relaxing. The house is very comfortable and has an authentic feel to it (even though it is new construction). My kids loved jumping into the Aegean Sea from the rocks just down the hill. Several little Greek villages are within a 15 minute drive with great beachfront restaurants and shopping. We loved feeling like the only tourists. We will definitely come back.
We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing week at this villa. We were a group of 4 families totalling 14 people. First of all, the owner Michael was the most welcoming that you could imagine, cooking us a veritable Greek feast as we arrived late in the evening. The property was the best equipped we have ever stayed in - with every kind of kitchen utensil you could imagine. It had the most stunning views of the sea directly in front and we could just sit and watch the magnificent sea views at our leisure. We all went down to the local stretch of sea every day - it takes 5 minutes! The sea was the clearest we have ever seen and swimming in it was magical. We also drove to the local stretch of beach at Schinias which is about a 5 minute drive away - we ate fresh fish at the lovely taverna. It was all in all a most relaxing week - the location was quiet and peaceful and we also did star watching at night. A perfect week for all.
Wonderful holiday location. The villa completely lives up to the pictures on the website. Well equipped and very well supported by the owner. Quiet location with excellent views over the Aegean Sea. Short walk to the rocky cove with various access points to the sea with good snorkelling. Little shop nearby that provides all the essentials.
Stone Villa Castle exceeded our expectations! Waking to the view of the sun coming up over the sea each morning was simply paradise. Our party of 18 people took advantage of the short walk to the Rocky beach as well as the short drive to the sandy beach. We also loved swimming by the pool that was maintained daily by the owner. Michael was a wonderful host, welcoming us with appetizers and drink upon arrival and making a traditional Greek dinner our last night in Shinias. He also lent his GPS when traveling to Cape Sounion/Temple of Poseidon which was welcome. The Villa is secluded, so you will need a car to get around.
Understand there are many steps within the house itself on several levels. This was not a problem for us, but anyone with difficulty negotiating stairs, beware. The elevator from the street level was welcome, when bringing baggage in. The kitchens were stocked with necessary spices, oils and all tools needed for making meals. We utilized the bar-b-que
grill several times! This place was a dream come true!
