Hi my name is Maura and i am 45 years old. I really like doing holiday rentals and I love meeting and speaking to all my clients from all over the world. I try and make all my visitors as welcome as possible and am readily available to help with all queries my guests may have.

Maura Hanafin purchased this cottage in 2008

I had passed this house many times over the years as my friend lived close by and even though it was derelict i could see its protential. When it came on the market my husband and i decided to buy it. Sean, my husband, did all the restoration work himself and we are now very proud of the cottage as it is today.

This cottage had a really nice feeling to it and the views from it were spectacular, and even though your close to Dingle town there is a real sense of peace and tranquillity in this cottage.

Far and Away Cottage - lovely cottage, great owners, beautiful location

The cottage is beautifully situated on a hillside. There are beautiful views in every direction; from the back of the cottage -- looking south over stone fenced fields and rolling hills and beachside cliffs, down to the bay, with mountains in the distance to the east and to the west, and, from the front of the cottage -- looking north up stone-fenced fields with only a few cottages, and several grazing sheep. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, with spacious bedrooms with large windows in their slanted ceilings; so beautiful to look out at the stars at night and down the sloping fields to the water in the distance. We liked that the cottage was set apart in that there were no cottages right next door, yet there were cottages set back at quite a distance in their gardens, across the road, so we didn't feel completely alone. The space of the bedrooms and the ease of having an en suite bathroom for each bedroom was luxurious. Water pressure was good. Water warmth was good. The beds were comfortable, with comfortable pillows. The photos of the sitting room show chairs yet it is even more comfortable than that because there are actually two full size sofas available, nice for stretching out on at the end of the day. It was great to have a washer and dryer. The cottage is a one minute drive to Dingle town proper. Maura is so pleasant and intelligent and funny, and was so nice to work with throughout the entire process, from first inquiry about availability, through having a fun chat the evening before we left. I think Maura is actually the best attribute of this rental. Thank you, Maura. We would like to visit Far and Away Cottage again.

This beautiful cottage was everything we hoped for and more. It was comfortable, cozy, quiet, immaculately clean and had great views. Maura was quick to reply to our inquiry, and was so friendly and helpful both before and during our trip. She had homemade bread, along with butter, jam, milk, tea and coffee stocked in the kitchen. She checked on us during the week, and even brought another loaf of her delicious bread to us after we commented on how much we loved it. Her recommendations for pubs, restaurants, shopping, scenic drives and other things to do were spot on. She made you feel as if you we're staying with a close friend. The week we spent in Dingle was our favorite of a three week Ireland vacation, and we can't wait to return! We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore southwest Ireland.

WONDERFUL RENTAL COTTAGE!!

It is amazing to me how time flies. I have been meaning to write this review since our stay in Maura's little cottage back in Sept - but how quickly do we get back into the same busy rat race of life after returning home from holiday? But as I was looking back thru my pictures last night of our recent trip to Dingle, Ireland, the wonderful memories my husband and I made came rushing back. Those are the precious things I will always cherish from our stay. I simply cant begin to thank Maura enough! First, let me try and share what a gem she is as a true Irish lady. We are from the States, and as we were trying to decide just were to call our "home base" for our Irish vacation we referenced our favorite travel recourse - VRBO. We have traveled thru-out the world and have had nothing but excellent luck booking our lodging thru this site. As we finally narrowed our search down to Dingle, there were such cute little farm houses in the area. We contacted several owners, but Maura was absolutely the most prompt and helpful owner we have ever worked with. She put forth extra effort to contact us on several occasions, and answered so many questions about the area and her cottage. It was so helpful as we were totally unfamiliar with the country. She even mailed us a map before we flew out providing detailed directions to Dingle from Shannon Airport as we were not going to have access to our phone/digital directions (that we have grown so accustomed to). As we arrived into Dingle, we instantly felt a since of warm welcome from Maura. She met us in town, and personally showed us to the home - a sweet little bungalow recently renovated . We were so impressed to see some crusty home made brown bread, fresh croissants, jam, butter and milk waiting for us in the well stocked kitchen. The home was so clean and well kept. It was very obvious that she took great pride in her property. She made fantastic suggestions of where to eat, and to go out in town. The home was located on a beautiful lot overlooking the Dingle Bay and beautiful countryside. It was just the right balance of privacy, and closeness to Dingle. Several nights we cooked in, but it was only a 1 min (1 mile or less) drive to the town center were we enjoyed the rich culture of the town. We took day trips to nearby Ring of Kerry and drove the Dingle Loop and this property was a wonderful central location for our travels. She was the perfect hostess - We would recommend this place without reservation to anyone l

Wonderful Vacation

I have always wanted to travel to Ireland and see what my father always talked about on his trips there. I was not disappointed at all. My hat is off to the owners/caretakers of this beautiful cottage. From the squeaky cleanliness of every nook and cranny of the cottage to the wonderful beds after a day of visiting the Dingle area. Our stay was one of the best vacations we have taken in quite a while. Cozy and comfortable are an understatement for this cottage and the beautiful surrounding area. The views were amazing.
The amenities were plentiful and there wasn’t anything we felt was left out. The people in the area were extremely friendly and helpful as I needed to be pointed in the right direction a few times. I loved the convenience of being able to walk to town. The eateries, restaurants and pubs were fabulous. This is without a doubt somewhere we want to go again. We travel quite a bit and these accommodations beat the big hotels by a long shot.

Great Vacation Home

We were greeted with excellent brown bread with strawberry jelly and butter. They had all the essentials left already there (coffee, tea, milk, etc.) Very nice welcome to start a very nice week. Town was beautiful. It has countless restaurants and pubs for an authentic Irish experience. Whether you want to relax by the bay, grab a few pints, go for a hike or bicycle tour, visit the historic beehive huts, or take the kids to the aquarium, it is just an incredible town, and peninsula. The owners were wonderful hosts. We hope to come back again next year. Thanks for everything Maura.
