10 out of 10- Wonderful, cozy home to spend a vacation

My fiancee and I, along with another couple, spent New Years week here this year, and we couldn't have been happier with our decision! First, the home is beautiful, with every room thoughtfully decorated and furnished having a charming, country feel. There is a spacious, very functional kitchen where we cooked several meals, and a very homey dining room and living room area with a wood stove that worked great and gave the living room a perfect, woodsy Vermont feel. We were extremely comfortable sleeping the 4 of us, and yet we barely used the downstairs floor where there are a few single beds (there are 3 floors). Using the ground floor or even sleeping on the living room couch which is very comfy, one could easily sleep 6.
The house is up the hill from the road (which is quiet and barely used) and in the midst of the VT forest, and so you have complete privacy from neighbors. And yet the location is very convenient. You are only a mile or so from the town of Mt. Holly (basically just a few stores and a stop sign), and about 15 minutes from the larger town of Ludlow, where there is a grocery store, some nice restaurants and plenty of boutique stores, etc., as well as skiing at Okemo which is next to Ludlow. There are also lots of trails reachable from the house (as well as a groomed facility at Okemo) for nordic skiing or snow shoeing.
The owners could not have been more accommodating or helpful. We had some car issues, which caused us to have to push back our stay by a day, and they accommodated the change on basically zero notice. When we finally arrived, the owners had a fire in the wood stove waiting for us. They also helped us with restaurant suggestions and even lent us a few pairs of snow-shoes when they weren't using them to enjoy the trails nearby!
If you are looking for a cozy escape into the VT countryside, with a great mix of relaxation and outdoor activities, I couldn't imagine a better option. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks, Abe and Kathy!
