FARM HOUSE APARTMENT ON CHARMING OLIVE FARM NEAR PISA, LUCCA AND FLORENCE

Vicopisano Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bed, 1 Bath, Sleeps 2 - 4 - Stunning views over Medieval Village

A farmhouse apartment in Tuscany and a perfect base for exploring Tuscany.

Situated on an award winning organic olive farm, surrounded by olive groves, orchards and sweet smelling pines.

Apartmento Limone is a one bedroom apartment situated not too far from the centre of Vicopisano, often referred to as one of Tuscany’s most beautiful villages and best kept secrets.

The apartment offers both rustic charm and simplicity so typical of Tuscan rural houses. This is the ideal place to stay if you are looking to immerse yourself into a typically authentic Tuscan lifestyle.

The apartment has its own private entrance and is situated opposite the main mill house with lovely views over the gardens, fruit trees and olive groves.

You will be able to see the farmers at work, the mill where the oil is produced and sample the wonderful tastes which are produced on this charming farm.

The bedroom has a traditional Tuscan wrought iron bed (queen size) and a single bed which can be used as a child’s bed or as an additional seating /lounging area.

There is plenty of storage in the way of a large wardrobe and antique dressing table and the bedroom is air-conditioned.

In the Kitchen, living and dining area there is a fitted kitchen with a cooker hob, electric oven and a fridge with freezer compartment.

For those who like to cook up a local dish whilst on holiday there is a fully equipped kitchen along with some award winning olive oil to get you started!

Additional pull down/Murphy beds are also available in this room. A large ceiling fan keeps the room cool in the warmer summer months.

If you need to pick up supplies the village center is just a 2 minute drive away or for those who like walking it’s a 10 – 15 minute picturesque wander past the kiwi plantations, and Medieval towers.

Come in the spring and witness the fruit trees in blossom and buttercups meadows, visit in the summer and see the surrounding sunflower fields.

In September you will see the harvest of the grapes and in October you will see the harvest of the olives but to see the olives turned into the golden nectar you must come and visit in November!

Vicopisano is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful region of Tuscany such as the cities of Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena, as well as being just under a 30 minute drive away from the Pisan coast, its beaches, Thermal Spas and Golf course

Surrounded by a beautiful landscape of sunflower fields, pine covered hills, and olive groves this is an ideal location for walking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking.

About Marie Kidd

The Farm Il Frantoio di Vicopisano came into being from Nicola Bovoli and his family’s love for food, quality and the Tuscan landscape.

The adventure began in the Eighties when they bought a farmhouse, a mill and about ten hectares of olive trees in the beautiful medieval village of Vicopisano, on the lower slopes of the Monte Pisano.

Today the organic farm produces an award winning olive oil, a wonderful red wine from the Sangiovese grape, and various other organic produce which is available for purchase not only throughout Italy and at the farm's own shop but also in exclusive outlets in America.

Nicola and his wife Lucia are both from Tuscany and have 2 children; Simona their daughter lives on the farm and works in the office and is very much hands on in the business and she is also a qualified and professional olive oil taster, nephew Francesco and his wife Valentina also work at the farm. Francesco works the land, tends the olives and sometimes jumps off his tractor to offer guided tours round the mill and farm! Valentina helps with bookings alongside Marie & Lorenzo who will initially deal with your booking enquiries. Marie & Lorenzo are not Bovili family members but have come to know and love this idyllic place on the hill and the hospitality of the family, they both live close by in the village. Marie is British and will be on hand for all English Language enquiries, although all the Bovili family do speak English and there will always be a family member close at hand during your stay.

Marie Kidd purchased this apartment in 1980

Why Marie Kidd chose Vicopisano

The property was purchased initially with a view to starting the olive oil business, however it was the love of the Tuscan landscape and the favorable micro climate which swayed the decision for the Bovili family to settle in this area. The farm is surrounded by almost 3000 olive trees, a large vineyard, a rich orchard and a sweet smelling pine forest. At the heart of the estate stands an ancient olive oil mill (Frantoio) where all the freshly picked olives are turned into the golden oil .

What makes this apartment unique

The farm (Frantoio) is also ideally situated close to the village of Vicopisano and all its amenities. The village is known as one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany and is ideally situated close to the city of Pisa and it’s international airport and within easy reach of the beautiful Tuscan cities of Lucca and Florence and just 30 minutes away from the Pisan coast and golf courses .

Excellent Way to see Tuscany

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here while we vacationed in Italy recently. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the people that own and manage the property are very nice. Its not a luxury hotel but if you want to really experience Tuscany this is a great place to stay. Its very peaceful and you are close enough to be able to walk into village. We would definitely stay again.

Apartamento Limone

  • 5 of 5
Apartment was on a working organic Olive and Vineyard and was immaculately clean and tidy. All creature comforts were provided with the added benefit of the shop selling wine and oil right next to us. The farm was quiet with stunning views over the medieval town and towers which had a small but adequate selection of bars and shops. The location of the farm made it easy to find from Pisa airport and allowed us to discover all the main cities and attractons by car on each day with no more than a couple of hours return trip. If it was peace and quiet you want, the local walks are just as relaxing so it made for a romantic stay.
The family that owned the farm were extremely helpful and very friendly; the olive tasting was a real treat and we would recommend this place without hesitation as a base to explore Tuscany.

Great holiday in Vicopisano in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at this apartment and had a wonderful time. The apartment is situated on a farm surrounded by olive trees and grape vines and is very beautiful. The Bovoli family who own the farm were most kind and helpful in every way. We certainly felt we were experiencing Tuscany first hand. The apartment was quite big and well equipped with all that we needed.
The location ideal for visiting other places in Tuscany. We visited Florence, Luca, Pisa and many other places and were able also to relax for a few days on the beaches. We enjoyed most evenings eating out on the patio and enjoying the lovely view of the castle in the village. We will certainly return again in the future.

A triumph of marketing over substance

  • 2 of 5
We booked at last minute due to our first choice being cancelled. The 27 page welcome pack and the high price for a 1 bed apartment promised a very special place. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The apartment was a hastily and I'll conceived conversion of a office suite. The bedroom had several phone jacks and ancient strip lighting. The bathroom was a conversion of a staff toilet which could on.y be made into a shabby type of wet room. The floor tiles were wall tiles ad were lethal when wet. Although there is a review which is glowing in its praise, although it doesn't actually mention the facilities in the apartment, rather drones on about their problems with their journey. The electrical appliances were either still boxed in their packaging or were obviously unused. The kettle had never had water in it! The terrace was just the rough concrete path to the front door. The patio furniture was very old, shabby and the metal struts of the parasol were so rusty that it couldn't be opened. There were 20 steps to the apartments and not 15 as stated in the advert. There was just a thin door between us and the apartment next door. We could here every move the residents made and presumably they could here us. We could go on but think we have outlined the short comings sufficiently enough to enable other holiday makers to make an informed choice. The owners need to up their game if they want British visitors.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments your and your feedback has been taken seriously. We are very sorry our apartment disappointed you. Our aim is to offer clean comfortable accommodation on our family run olive farm so guests can immerse themselves into a typical Tuscan environment.
We are sorry that you found the apartment highly priced. After much research we believe the rate of €70 / £56 /$89 per night to be fair for a 1 bedroom apartment in this location at this time of year.
We advertise the apartment as being simply decorated with modern comforts such as fully fitted kitchen, air con and free WiFi. The farm building did have another use before we converted it into an apartment and great care was taken during the renovation. We were very concerned with your comments about the bathroom especially from a safety point of view, to date no other guests have brought this to our attention but due to your comments we will investigate and correct any problems. The photo in our ad is a perfect representation of the bathroom, and it has never been a conversion of a staff toilet.
You state that the patio furniture is old and shabby which we must disagree with as the patio furniture is brand new; we have looked at the parasol and agree that it needs to be replaced immediately. You mention your disappointment with the patio; but we do feel that the photo of the patio area perfectly represents what guests will see in real life.
The entry steps are not really proper steps; they are approx 1” deep and were intended to aid people walking up the slight slope. We counted 15 steps in a row and there are occasional random steps also 1” deep close to the entrance. Obviously we will amend this info in our ad.
Our previous guest comment is genuine and is on another well known traveller site here you may contact this guest for feedback.
The apartment has only recently opened and we are sorry we left the new appliances in their boxes; we didn’t think this would offend, but would on the contrary reassure guests that all was brand new.
It is with sadness that we have not been able to offer you the holiday you were seeking. It is a shame that you didn’t speak to us during your stay, as you saw us on many occasions at the farm and we welcomed you both with your lovely dog. If you had expressed such disappointment at the time we would have happily refunded your money and helped you find different accommodation which would have been possible as this is a very small community.

FANTASTIC HOLIDAY IN AN AMAZING APARTMENT ON AN OLIVE FARM IN TUSCANY - WOW!!!

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at this charming apartment for 11 days and it was amazing. The farm where the apartment is situated is beautiful, and the family who own the farm were so kind and friendly. They couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We really felt at home and we certainly felt like we were in the heart of Tuscany. The apartment was well equipped with everything that we needed, which was really important to us as we have an eight month old baby. The apartment was really big and airy and traditional italian. We loved it. Although we visited lots of places in Tuscany, it was also just lovely to walk around the farm looking at the beautiful fruit trees and grape vines. The family helped us with directions to places, and lots of information was also provided in the apartment on arrival. We used the welcome pack provided to try out recommened beaches and restaurants. It was such a great help. We were also given the most gorgeous fruit freshly picked off the pretty trees. It was delicious. The apartment is ideally located for visiting many other places in Tuscany. We went to Pisa, Florence, Buti and a couple of beaches, but there is so much more to do and see. There is a small supermarket in the village a few minutes away, but if you want a larger supermarket, there are a couple about 10 minutes and 15 minutes away which we visited a few times.
Our plane was delayed by a few hours on the way out to Pisa, and I got a text and a phone call from Marie saying that she was aware that our plane was delayed and that she could order us a taxi when we arrived in Pisa, as our car hire office would be closed - wow, what a service. We were so grateful. When we got there our taxi was waiting. I don't know what we would have done if Marie hadn't have arranged this for us as we arrived after midnight. We have never been given this kind of great service. The next morning rather than having to get a taxi back to the airport Francesco drove us there, waited for us to collect our car and let us follow him back to the farm so we didn't get lost. We got an amazing service from day one and this continued all the way through our holiday. We had a lovely patio outside the apartment where we spent most evenings eating lovely italian food and drinking a glass of wine. We had a lovely view of the farm, and during the day we also had a gorgeous view of the castle in the village. We are already looking at flights to go back soon. It was fantastic and can't wait to return.
