Church Street Cottage (4* Visit Britain) is ideal self catering accommodation in Bath. The 200 year old holiday property is arranged over four floors. When you step in off the street you are in the lounge with original ceiling beams (watch your head if you are over 2 metres!). This extends to the dining room and from here step out onto the balcony and enjoy fabulous views over Lyncombe Vale valley. On the first floor are the second bedroom with double bed and bathroom and on the top floor you will find the spacious main bedroom with a double bed and magnificent views. From the living area, you descend to the fully equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, coffee machine and dishwasher. There is an eating area and a separate utility area with washer/dryer and freezer. Outside is a totally secluded, south facing garden with rockeries, a pergola and garden furniture for you to enjoy the peace and quiet. A parking permit is provided for one car.

Bath is the ideal base for a short break. There is so much to see and do in this World Heritage Site, including visiting the rich choice of museums, art galleries and historical sites such as the Roman Baths. The vast range of both high street chain stores and designer boutiques are all within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the cottage. Round every corner you will discover something new. Come and browse the antiques shops or look for that special gift in the many independent shops. Bath is home to a great variety of eating establishments. Newest additions are Jamie Oliver's 'Italian' and a River Cottage canteen at the comedy theatre 'Komedia'. There is something for every pocket here. You can feast on the wide cultural opportunities in the city. Theatre and cinema are both excellent. There are a number of festivals taking place throughout the year; literature, music, comedy, etc. To relax, enjoy the natural hot spring water at Thermae Bath Spa!

Local Information: The cottage is situated in Widcombe, close to Bath city centre. Church Street boasts Henry Fielding's house (author of the first English novel, Tom Jones) and the 15th century church of Thomas a Beckett. The 18th century Widcombe Manor is an historic 9 acre estate 'in the city' whose grounds back onto the cottage. Views of the Prior Park Palladian Mansion can also be seen from Church Street. Walk past the Church and you are en route to Bath's skyline walk via National Trust fields. Widcombe Parade is just by Bath Spa station and boasts two excellent gastro pubs, the White Hart and Ring o' Bells, as well as two coffee shops. Between Widcombe parade and the cottage is a garden centre with a farm shop selling fresh, organic and locally sourced produce. There is an excellent cafe for breakfast and lunch

The cottage is situated in a quiet road with parking available outside the door - tokens required - provided by the owner. The cottage is clean and well maintained and the views, as described are breathtaking. It is a brisk walk into Bath and there are local shops a few minutes away to provide newspapers etc.The cottage is ideal for visiting Bath, local walks or trips in the surrounding area. I would recommend it for couples and not really families as it is on four floors and both beds are doubles.

A hidden gem of Bath

We were looking for somewhere to stay in Bath that had the option of self catering and came a across a wide range of b&b options. Price was not a good indicator of quality as the Church Street Cottage far exceeded our expectations.

The property is split over 4 levels and is furnished to a very high standard - so good you could easily move in tomorrow. The kitchen probably has more utensils and cookware than your current home.

A charming cottage that we have recommended to friends and an option you should strongly consider.

An Excellent Self Catering Accomadation

A very clean, spacious, well maintained and well stocked, comfortable accommadation. Highly recommended and in a well-suited location requiring just a short brisk down hill walk into the town centre. Good communication and professional service from owners. If you want a self-catering break staying at a base in Bath this is where to stay!
