Overview

Cripple Creek Cabin Rental Photos and Description

*** ACCESSIBLE YEAR ROUND! (4WD/AWD advised for late fall/winter/spring months**

As you arrive at the cabin in early evening, a small group of deer raise their heads from the grass to see who the new guests are. Several hundred feet in the distance, the cabin can be seen; the deck and stairs seem to be illuminated by tiny stars. Stepping inside the door, the real-cabin interior is very present – log walls, hardwood floors, wood-paneled roof. The wide open living space includes a well-furnished kitchen, an elegant dining area, a very comfortable living area, and, of course, a log burning fireplace. The warmth of the Rocky Mountain southwestern décor is tastefully present throughout the cabin. Despite the rustic feel of the cabin, you realize that you’ll be lacking very little in the way of modern comforts – land phone, three big screen televisions with satellite cable and DVD players complete with a library of movies, and a wireless internet connection. The bedrooms are as warm and inviting as the main living area with queen-size beds and comfortable furnishings. In the last few moments of daylight, you peer out, just as the deer had peered at you from the grass, and view that you are in rugged seclusion in a true, Rocky Mountain cabin.

About Sid & Denise Rubey

My wife and I had a growing family and wanted our children to have a place where they could explore the landscape and develop a respect and love for nature. As a couple, we also have been able to have alone time to rejuvinate our marriage.

Sid & Denise Rubey purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Sid & Denise Rubey chose Cripple Creek

We chose this property because of it's privacy, fantatic view, and proximity to many attractrions.

What makes this cabin unique

We love getting up early in the morning to have coffee and watch the deer walk though the grassy knoll for an early morning snack.

Peaceful Perfect Solitude

  • 5 of 5

Rubey Ranch was exactly what I was looking for! The description is accurate and the cabin is secluded, nicely appointed, with a great deck, and knock out views. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The day it snowed, the driveway was plowed right away, but it was still very beneficial for a winter stay to have 4WD, which the owners had suggested appropriately. I loved it. I hope to stay again! Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Silence and Solitude

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin to have some time away in the mountains. The location was great, the cabin was wonderful. I loved my time there. I even got to know another ranch owner and had a wonderful time exploring bear trap. Absolutely beautiful place.

Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual girls getaway at this beautiful cabin. We are all artists so we brought our art projects and created all weekend. The cabin provided inspiration and the views were incredible. We built a fire with the wood provided every night which made the cabin so cozy during the big snowstorm. We were secretly wishing that we would get snowed in for a day or two extra. Thanks for everything. We will be back.

Excellent Christmas Stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We got to stay for the week of Christmas and can say the stay was excellent. The cabin was warm and inviting and felt like home. The Christmas tree and decorations the were up made it a fine Christmas away from home. Everything you could need for a comfortable stay was provide and the location was great. We had several things planned for each day of our stay and were centrally located to each thing and the cabin was secluded enough that were away from the hustle of anyone being around you. I would recommend the stay for anyone, we will be back!! Thanks again for a great stay!!

Picture Perfect Family Memories

  • 4 of 5

We decided to plan a long weekend getaway in the mountains with some of our extended family this fall. We wanted to stay near Cripple Creek, because we'd taken a family trip there in the mid-90s, and thought it would be fun to revisit the town and see how things have changed. Rubey Ranch seemed like a great choice - close enough to Cripple Creek and Florissant to give us access to entertainment options, but far enough away to give us the feeling of "getting away."

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location is quite good. Once we learned our way around the area, we discovered that it's very easy to get to several different attractions, including the casinos in Cripple Creek, the fossil beds, and Pike's Peak. You have the feeling of being quite a ways off the beaten path, but it's still pretty easy to access county-maintained roads, grocery stores, etc. The cabin has a wonderful view of Pike's Peak, and we had a great time walking around and exploring the area nearby. My 2 year old LOVED the "rock playground" (rock formations) out back.

The cabin itself is picture perfect. We visited in October, which is a beautiful time of year. The main room has high, vaulted ceilings, lots of windows (you can watch the sun rise AND set from the same spot!), and a huge fireplace. There's a beautiful wrap around porch with a swing that faces Pike's Peak - nothing better than having your morning coffee and watching the sun rise over the mountains. I would LOVE to go back in the summer when it's a little warmer, because I think I'd spend all my time on the porch. The master bedroom is very large and comfy. The second bedroom is a bit smaller than we expected, but still very comfortable for two adults. The cabin has a landline, satellite TV and Wi-Fi, so we didn't even have to go without our modern comforts! We made a grocery run on our way to the cabin, and found the kitchen to be well-stocked with all the basics we needed for cooking.

Sid and Denise were amazingly helpful hosts. We had some trouble with the hot water heater when we first arrived (it is a tankless hot water heater, and the pilot had gone out), but were able to get it up and running with a little coaching over the phone. They keep a book with lots of information on activities and entertainment nearby, which was very helpful. They also provided wonderful directions and suggestions via email. We had a wonderful time at Rubey Ranch, and I would certainly go back.

Excellent relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Great place Sid and thanks for letting us stay there for the week before moving onto south Colorado.

The wildlife around the cabin is fantastic, the deer on a night (torch needed) and on a morning are great. The cheeky chipmunks running around, the Wood Peckers and of course the Humming Birds! Got some great pictures of those.

Cripple Creek, The Wolf refuge centre, The gold mine, Gorge Bridge, Canon City are just a few places to visit. The dirt road from just east of Canon City to the old mining town of Victor is must! 27 miles of hold onto your seat! A 4x4 is not needed as it says on most web sites, just drive carefully! But its great, honest!

Thanks Sid for the stay.

Robert and Tracey.
