SECLUSION, QUIET, COMFORTABLE

Jefferson Cabin Rental Photos and Description

The Glendale House

If you are interested in seclusion,

dark skies, endless scenic views with

the glorious Mount Jefferson as a

backdrop, birdsongs, deer and

turkey, you have found your vacation

cabin.

The Glendale House, situated on

33 acres at the end of a dirt road, is

ideal for folks wanting a break from

the urban pace. Just 82 miles from

downtown Winston-Salem, 1/4th

mile from the New River, 2 miles

from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the area

offers hiking, biking, golf,

tubing, canoeing, fishing, good

restaurants, a great arts district in

West Jefferson, and peace and quiet. The Florence Art School and Ben Long Fresco's are located in Glendale Springs, 3 miles from the cabin.

The cozy 1,100 square foot

cabin is in a most beautiful place. The

cabin has maple floors and cabinets,

two bedrooms upstairs with hand crafted

beds, sunroom drawing in the

outside, one bathroom, no television,

no dishwasher, a washer and dryer,

picnic table and gas grill on the deck,

fire place in the back yard, a birdfilled

front yard, high speed wireless

internet connection and the upstairs has air conditioning. The cabin is

fully furnished and very inviting.

This lovely cabin is overlooking the New River Valley. As the fog raises in the morning and your coffee is brewing, you will see seven bends in this historic river valley and hear the rapids below. Your view is of the undistribued Blue Ridge Mountains with very few homes in the viewshed across the river valley.

The cabin is fully furnished. It is decorated with originial art, handcrafted furniture, pottery and photography. The office has high speed internet, a fax/copier and desk. A stargazer haven.

Great Get-away!

We had a great 2 weeks! Wonderful cabin, beautiful view and very relaxing. Pat is a great host; there when we needed him and yet respected our privacy. Also a perfect place to let the dog run free.

What a wonderful place. Probably the best place we found on VRBO. The owners have thought of everything. Charming and comfortable, the cabin has everything you need for a great getaway. It was very hard to leave!

Perfect fall escape!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful week at this fantastic cabin. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful and provided a great break from everyday life. We spent most of our time in the sunroom reading and out on the deck. The photos accurately depict the space and the views - which are incredible!

It was easy to book and pay, was clean upon arrival, and the cabin/kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need. The furnishings are comfortable and the space is warmly decorated with artwork and pottery. It felt as though we were staying at the home of an old friend rather than a 'plain/anonymous' vacation rental. This cabin is a gem and Pat is a gracious host who ensured we had what we needed to enjoy our stay.

What we loved most is that it offered a relaxing respite after returning from our day's activities - all of which we'd recommend:

+ Canoeing the New with Zaloo's Canoes, located right around the corner
+ Riding our bicycles along the Virginia Creeper Trail (in Damascus, VA) and the Railroad Grade Road from Todd to Fleetwood, NC
+ Wandering the galleries and shops of West Jefferson, and enjoying a burger at Blackjack's and cheese form Ashe Co. Cheese Co.

Thanks, Pat, for the wonderful stay in your cabin. We will definitely return!

Total serenity

  • 5 of 5
Completely relaxed here for a week with our 2 dogs. The house is very comfortable, well appointed, and secluded---something we look for when we go to the mountains. Hiked down to the new river, and had a picnic. Watched the lightning bugs come out at night after the sunset at the fire pit. We hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway and drove to the Virginia line...even found a "back" way to the parkway. The weather was perfect; nice and cool. The hummingbirds were amazing on the front porch. (love the swing!). Our friends in Florida want to know more about the property, but not sure we want to share! We really didn't want to leave...ever. We will be back!

Christmas in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing time at this cabin. Everything you could think of was provided for us. We came with two teenagers who didn't mind that there wasn't a TV because of all there is to do in this area. We hiked down to the river and loved sitting out by the fire pit in the evenings. We have been coming to this area for the past 3 years over Christmas and I think we have finally found a place we will continue to rent in the future. Pat was easy to work with and very accommodating. We even had one of Pat's neighbors stop in and check on us. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are looking for peace and quiet and nature surrounding you at every turn, this is the place for you!!
