One of the original Further Lane homes, this classic shingle home is spacious and comfortable, with many great details. Nestled on a quiet, two-and-one-half acre property with expansive lawns for croquet, touch-football, cook-outs or whatever you can imagine! Brand new heated gunite pool will be available Spring 2015! Beautifully landscaped property with wrap-around porch as well as balconies off three of the bedrooms. Central AC & heat. A short bike ride or walk to Amagansett village and beaches. House has 6 bedrooms, 3 full and 2 half-baths, eat-in kitchen with full butler's pantry, formal dining room, living room and additional TV room/den.
This home has been in the family for years and four generations have enjoyed decades of great summer experiences here. It was always the one time and place where we could all gather and enjoy the very best of summer - or winter! - in the Hamptons. This was never designed as a showhouse, but as a place for family to gather in comfort and ease. The perfect place to come back to after a long day at the beach. It is a really down-to-earth place in an area that isn't always that way. It is still my favorite place to be. Unfortunately, currently living out of State, we just can't be there as much as we'd like.
Cressida Bainton-Habib purchased this house in 1946
There are few houses in this exclusive area that are so affordable and yet still provide such easy access to what makes the Hamptons a great place to be.
Dinners with fresh corn from the local farmstand and fresh local fish enjoyed on the front porch, by the rose-arbor are still among my best memories - although early mornings on the porch with the NY Times, a coffee and muffin from Mary's Marvelous is hard to beat! Enjoying an after dinner drink with friends, while the kids enjoy a movie in the other room is also pretty great. In short, we think this is a pretty great place to be.
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here with our family and friends and had a truly amazing time. The house is a large beautiful old structure with a big ole' rambling porch and plenty of character. I could spend my life on this front porch and die a happy woman. The yard is huge, with a charming outdoor dining area set apart by beautiful privet hedges. We decorated this area with white christmas lights and it was magical. The property gives you the sense of so much space and is completely private. The house furnishings are a little dated but the old world charm of the house is too compelling to really even notice. Every thing was super clean and tidy. The kitchen is large and a great place to sit with friends and enjoy a cup of coffee. It is not state of the art but it is warm and inviting. The house is also well located to several beaches and Amagansett and East Hampton. It is a great place to gather with friends - there is room for everyone to be together and to also find a private spot when they need it. Cressida is a wonderful host and answered all our questions without hesitation. A great place to make memories!
The house is located on Further lane, one of the famous streets South of the Highway in East Hampton. This gorgeous house is biking and walkable to several beaches. You are not far from amagansett and East hampton town centers. It has well kept grounds and large lawns where kids and can run and play for hours. The home is large, yet comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone. There are several porches around the house that were ideal for relaxing. We had everything we needed and had a wonderful vacation! We felt very lucky to be able to stay in such an incredible house in such a perfect location! It doesn't get much better. Also, Cressida and everyone we dealt with was lovely! We hope to come back.
